I disagree on the artifact, decrescent is equally viable. They just allow to him play differently, hollow makes him more passive but more explosive. Decrescent makes hitting him even more punishing, and ramps his passive faster. My decrescent is maxed so it is basically a free counter set on top of his ls/pen.

I think you got it backwards. double edge makes him more passive/rely on counters. sheph makes him more active by raising his kill threshold on a lot of tanky units especially revive based anchors like destina/ruele.
