Finally breaking in the new engine

- After 4 months of waiting for the factory rebuilt engine to arrive and get it installed, I was finally able to take the Sierra up for its break-in flight. Follow along as I share the process I followed, and how it's turning out.

Just finished the overhaul (after 12 months) in my Sierra. Now looking forward to breaking in the engine myself towards the end of the week. Wish me luck!

@@WingsOverTO I flew a sundowner for nine years then bought a beech debonair. I flew that for fifteen hours and it ate an exhaust valve on departure at three hundred feet. Thankfully we survived the off airport landing, the plane was totaled.
My bride and I both wanted to fly again so we searched for a Sierra and commanders, two doors now a must. We ended up with our 112A.
Glad you both came out of that Debonair safe! What a horrible experience.

Glad everything is going well. The spread sheet is impressive. It used to be the mineral oil was changed out after 25 hrs. Has that changed?
That's still pretty standard, but I'm leaning toward having it changed as soon as I feel things have stabilized. The oil collects a lot of metal particles during the break-in process, and I'd rather not have those floating around any longer than necessary. I'm at 13 hours now and will probably have it changed now.
Looking good! Is the cfi independent? I'm looking for one.
He is. He works out of Burlington and Oshawa. Maybe Brampton too. Would one of those work for you?
