Thank you Fresh Drama for posting these segments they are memorable and for those of us who loved the drama and seen it at least 5 times it gives us an opportunity to see to these segments.
I don't like how people were so brutal toward's CSS's mother. She's not perfect duh. But people praising Empress as a good parent to CSS is absurd. Empress is a good person, but if she was a good parent she wouldn't have such kids like the crown prince or the evil spoiled 5th princess. CSS's mom, even tho she could've done better towards her but if you take a step back she has 3 good human spawns. Whereas Empress is good to CSS, but she has 2 failed spawns. Seems like the audience love to cherry pick situations.
It comes down to specific children needs specific teaching methods. CSS responds to kindness and empathy. Later on when she finds out that her prank effected the Empress and LBY she regretted it and changed, while when her mother try to force her to learn with corporal punishment she resisted. The reverse was true for the Empress' children, they only reposnd to harsh punishment and take any kindness for granted.
LBY was also raised by the empress. He turned out fine. The crown prince was weak but not evil. He should have never made the crown prince. That was the emperors fault

In CSS mom,you can also say that only one didn't like her teaching method, so it must not be a bad teaching method, following your logic of course. There are no perfect parents in the real world, why would you think it wouldn't be the same in a drama.
More than being strict FLs mom kept on comparing her with others...it was fine to be this strict If FL was always with her...mom came back after many yrs and suddenly started controlling and comparing her...she felt sad...she wanted to be recognized by mother...her mother loved her ,but didn't know how to show it to her like her father , aunt or empress..so FL felt her mother doesn't care for her...even in palace mom kept on insulting the FL(thinking it's for her own good)..but crushed her self confidence in front of others...tat was really bad

this is what separates Ling Bu Yi and Shaoshang from the prince and princesses. they're not afraid to take responsibility of their actions and just endure it, just knowing that they have exacted their revenge and made a point in front of the royalties is enough to them. the fifth princess is just shameless, just as Shaoshang said, she waited to get her revenge after the celebration to not disturb the event but the princess' actions before and on the day of Empress' birthday shows that she does not give Her Majesty any respect at all.
The emperor and the empress are unrealistically generous. Most emperors/empresses would take side with their wayward misbehaving children even if they know that their children is to blame. These two are not like that. Its impressive, but its also unrealistic.
At the end concubine yue reprimanded Miss Luo about chun tian's act. Concubine Yue is very clever she identified well ahead of time that Miss Luo is pretentious as this girl harms niao niao. Concubine Yue delibrately called her out infront of niao niao and ling buyi so that they could see her real face, but niao niao as usual failed to pay heed to this warning.
