Sansui au 7900 is definitely a buy. I have one which i restored and has a superb sound. It is not true it gets very hot. The weak link as other X900 models, is in the preamp transistors which get leaky and noisy with age. On the other hand, restored, the preamp has one of the best sound i listened to and as a whole is one very sweet integrated amplifier.
I have had an AU 7900 since 2007. Bought used. I have had it into several repair technicians over the years who cannot figure out why the thing sometimes runs super hot. Too hot to touch in the back. And this is while operating on very low volumes for only one hour. Some of them do run hot. I wish this was better documented on the internet.
I have a older Sansui AU-6500 Integrated Amp. These are really musical and full bodied sounding units. So much better sounding than a lot of the late 80's -90's equipment, which may sound more accurate but "thin" in my opinion.
I have an AU-5900. Use it as a pre-amp. Excellent combo with MANY power amps. Its currently paired with an Adcom GFA-545II pushing some Canton Ergo Passivs
Hi really great video as always I have the 6900 myself. Even if it can sound weird ... anyway ... there is a switch on the back that separates the preamp section from the power amp section. Sometimes it is possible to get better sound putting the switch on separate and use two good quality RCA jumper. Cleaing the rca outs helps of course. Switches can degrade the signal quality. I am pretty sure this amp shares with mine a very nice characteristic .... the ability to throw a nice soundstage. I live for a great 3D soundstage. I know .. the acoustic quality of a room is more important to get this ... but some electronics are better than others. Thanks a lot and kind regards, gino
That line and the up models like the Au 7900 are a joy, but they ask a little fortune for them, you need to be profane to buy one. I got a modest AU-4900 that I got so cheap that I can't believe it, full recaped, and the clarity and that nice midrange, you are not gonna get it on new equipment for a similar price. Those 70's Sansui are great
Never had a Sansui. Only Luxman, Quad and Marantz. Sold all my Marantz. Curious about the Sansui sound. How does it compare to the typical Marantz sound?
I strongly suggest x900, especially this model due to price. I am listening to au-5900 right now. I have one model from 7 different Sansui lines, and also several Marantz, Pioneer, Yamaha, Hitachi etc. It is my favorite one so far. Most balanced in terms of clarity, detail, mids and smoothness. May be less warm and more detailed but I'd say most balanced.
Can I play 6 ohms speaker with au 5900 Sansui amplifier. There is written 4 or 8 ohms speaker connection in au5900 amplifier. Not 4-8 or 4-16 ohms speaker connection.
Nice video. Can you please give a short list of $500 vintage amps that have great clarity and magical upper bass thru mid mid frequencies (ie. 100-2500 hz, Voice and piano). Thank you for your recommendation.
Hello everyone! I apologize for the bad English and for that I use Google translator. I was impressed by the sound from Canton Ergo RCL with different vintage hi-fi units. I use JVC JA-S71 top model from 1976 year (80 wpc) with Canton Ergo 91DC. The sound is super detailed but I think it lacks enough bass. The question is. Is there a big difference in the performance of the two Canton models or the amplifier is not suitable enough for them. Greetings!
Thanks for the answer! The situation is such that the amplifier is professionally recapped, and in excellent general condition. Before that I tried it with JBL L80 (too much and lazy bass no detail) as with Quadral Rubin (everything is perfect there). But both a pair of speakers are my friend's. Thinking that Canton are high-end, I bought it blindly and it turned out to be a bad solution. Now I will sell them. You never know how analog technology will surprise you. Greetings!
Apparently at the moment the prices of Canton Ergo are on the rise. Only two days after I put them up for sale they sold for 425 €! Now I use JVC SK-700 and everything looks good. In my opinion it is good that the speakers and the amplifier are from the same production period. I think so. Greetings!
I checked the sansui aux-911dg and it doesn't sound too bright and harsh. I prefer the Pioneer A-88x sounds more natural, does this AU-5900 sound warmer than the 911dg?
@@sarahX.. The Au-777a have a better medium than the Au-5900, the Sony ta-4650 is better again, the sound is similar to 300b or 2A3 valves, very smooth and natural !
the sound is affected by the obsolete elcos and other components. a recapped amplifier will always sound better, although there are also people who think the old lifeless amplifier sounds better.🤪

Nice soft and open sound. Never harsh. Nice!
Those Sansuis really are beautiful pieces!
A lot of headroom plus a great phono section on these AU models, too! Thank you for showing.

Please tell me while testing the Canto Ergo RC-L speaker systems, are you using the Canton Control Unit RC-1?
Thanks, regards.
I never used the controller. I sold the cantons and kept the controller, will test it out on my heco's
@@vintagestereo If you sell a controller, I would buy it. Is he with regulators?
Do you think these are worth €700 thinking of buying one would like to know your thoughts thanks
700 is to much 450/500 top
Thanks for the reply appreciate that there’s that many models it’s hard to know the true value but thanks again that will help me out.

I am using headphones and it does not sound musical, but rather flat sounding. It is full bodied but boring to me. Does anyone agree to that?
tengo uno y lo menos que tiene es ser plano
