    I'm still shooting a 1999 PSE Thunderbolt, but am planning on picking up a new bow this fall. Bought it brand new and have shot it in an on again and off again manner over the past 24 years, but I started hunting seriously this past year and I'm ready to move on. I've been watching your channel for about a year now and I've loved the honest nature of your videos and the manner in which you present information to the public. I honestly wouldn't go to anyone else for advise. Thank you.

    Pulled my Alaskan out of the box. Checked spec on A to A and brace. Right on from the factory. Set poundage. Timed cams, they were slightly off and needed one twist. Put on a whisker biscuit and shot a dozen arrows to settle the string a bit. Switched to a Vapor Trail Pro VX. First shot was point high/tail low. Moved the nocking point up a hair. Bullet hole. Zero side to side. With a 400 spine it shot bullet holes with 100, 125, and 150 grain points. One of the easiest bows to tune I have had as of late. Not bad for a $499 bow, considering I have had much more challenging times tuning the big flagships in some cases. Also worth noting, the peep settled in the first couple shots and there is now zero peep rotation. Bear strings are better than Mathews and Bowtech for sure, and at least as good as Hoyt and Prime. It looks to me like Bear might be thinking of dropping the Alaskan from their lineup soon, get one now if you want an extremely high value bow.

    I was looking between the Whitetail Legend Pro and the Alaskan and I went with the Alaskan. Such a great bow! The draw cycle felt better, it has a rock solid back wall, and it’s a very quiet bow.

    I bought a Cabela's Uproar which is basically a Whitetail Legend Pro riser with the Alaskan style Cams and is rated at 345fps. Just put a GAS string on it and QAD drop away rest and 4 limbsaver dampeners and it's shooting really well with some heavier arrows amd is quiet.

    Hey Nate, how about a review of the Whitetail Legend Pro? I’m looking into either the Alaskan or the Whitetail Legend Pro. I’d like to see the difference in the cams, as I know the WLP has the EKO, and the Alaskan has the DHC. I’m a long haul trucker and watch your videos all the time. I truck through your neck of the woods often and would love to stop in the shop. I drive nights with a partner, tho, and we have to keep it movin’. Thanks for a lot of great info and valuable information.

    Price aside, how does the Alaskan compare to bears flagship bows like the execute or the refine? And it’s my understanding that any cast riser is not indeed cast into the riser. It starts out as a cast block of aluminum and then machined into shape whereas more expensive bows start as a forged block.

    • @averagejackarchery
      @averagejackarchery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the Alaskan replaced the HC in the lineup. Different cam altogether though, so the feel isn't the same. Also, more color options were added to the Alaskan when it was launched and more have been added since. I believe the HC didn't have a limb stop option as well when it was released, but I don't remember fully.

      There is some confusion between last year's Resurgence RTH bow package and Resurgence LD. The Resurgence shares the same hybrid cams and ATA as the Alaskan last year. I own one of each, and they have identical measurements, speed, and performance. The original Resurgence came as a ready to hunt package, and the Alaskan was a bare bow. This year, the Resurgence LD has a single Cam and a single idler it is not the same bow as The Resurgence RTH. My Resurgence is shooting 305fps with upgraded strings and a 28 inch 5mm axis arrow at 300 spine with 100grain broadheads. It's a great Bow and hard to beat at the price.
