    I wish I had seen this 2 years ago, I have battled so much getting started with homeschooling, I have been super over whelmed...since finding your FB morning basket page has been a tremendous help and I am slowly changing my mindset from thinking I need to be so rigid .... who knew school could be full of fun. Thank you so much for doing this video, I feel so much pressure has lifted off my sholders.... and games...who would have thought!!!

    By the way Iove your planner. I was recording my things the exact same way on a piece of notebook paper. This is more convenient and all in one place.

    I love this! We do unit studies also and we add in themed sensory bins or play dough set ups with plastic animals and things from dollar tree.

    First- this was fantastic! It’s late n I’m in bed but I’ll be rewatching to take notes. So thank you. I have to say though, I was so distracted because I was so interested in your colorful little library. What is all that well-organized goodness?! Omg 😍

    You're fantastic, so glad I've found your channel! I've been inspired that after we've done the three R's I'm going to have a much more laid back and fun/interactive approach to the other subjects. I always feel pressure to 'record' what we've done, but that's the dry boring part my daughter dislikes and I'd love to rid myself of it! We'll also be incorporating much more gameschooling, and appreciate your video on car schooling too. We frequently travel up and down Scotland on 5 hour long journeys, so these will be great addition to audiobooks! Really look forward to more of what you do, and many thanks for sharing all your ideas and resources!

    Thank you for this! I have been dabbling with the idea of unit studies, but I definitely felt overwhelmed not knowing where to begin. This is the best info I've found! I'm a step by step person so thank you! I would just love to rummage through your bookshelves and game closet... WOW! Jealous :)

      @TheWaldockWay  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I know I am covering them to my standards it may not be to the states but we don't test so I don't really care. With the ocean unit for example we studied and mapped where all 5 oceans where (geography), studied the animals in the ocean and the ocean depths etc. (science), we drew ocean animals (art), we read about Jacques Cousteas and Eugunia Clark (history) so I just kinda mentally check off do I have something for everything?

    I was wondering if you could guide me in the right direction for a unit study or something similar that is all about my child? I want to spend the first week or two learning everything about my son, his goals for the year, what he wants to be when he grows up, what a perfect school day would look like, his feelings, etc. Hope this makes sense and TIA

    This is my first video to watch and my first toe-dip into the concept of making one's own curriculum or unit study. So forgive my ignorance or if I may have missed this detail, but how do you ballance out all of the necessary subject like writing, math or history when you are doing a unit study that only seems to focus on science, for instance?

  • @13monthsofhomeschool12
    @13monthsofhomeschool12 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @TheWaldockWay

      This year they are planned out using Passport to Adventures which was her request at the beginning of the year but if an interest arises we stop and follow that. So yes and no? 🤣

    Thank you for this video. Our brains work very similar. I've been struggling with unit study planning for yearssss ( I was over doing it and trying to schedule each little thing by day) and I literally just figured this method out last night, just from being exhausted. I was nervous and thinking this is too "easy" am I doing this right? Then, I woke up this morning with an email from Waldock way, which prompted me back to your blog and your article for unit planning and it all just clicked so thank you again. I have a quick question about your must haves ( spines). Do you keep them seperate and How do you incorporate them into the unit study. Do you go over those materials first, or require her to read those certain books, materials, etc or do you read them to her. This is that last piece I can't seem to figure out. Thank you in advance for any assistance.

    @thewaldockway you have a lot of materials for one single unit study. Do u think its neccessary? Im thinking it will cost a lot of money if one does this with all units. I would love to see a simple unit study.

      They all disperse back into spots like my office, her toys, etc. I don't store them all together long term. Just while we are doing the unit and I use the Organizer Logic Basket for that.

    I kno kids learn best wen it’s Child lead learning. We use TH-cam videos for learning and these could be used for a unit study. The Sticker Books could be used for art work. Some kids apps may fit as well.
