Please recall the facts re Saquon, Joe Schoen, Brian Daboll and now the deeper insight into John Mara thanks to Hard Knocks.
1) Saquon clearly and repeatedly expressed his overwhelming desire to remain a Giant for the life of his remaining career - this despite the "minimums" the Giants got away with re his mandated rookie deal and his "franchise tagging" for a year-to-year deal after his rookie deal ran out
2) Giant tradition is one of two-way loyalty and many, many players over decades AND the Giants organization have the mantra "Once a Giant, Always a Giant" - Tiki Barber, for one, understands and knows this mantra and he and many of his era's teammates live this mantra to this day - as do many other Giants and their teammates from their respective eras - From Simms to Carson to Strahan to LT, etc. All guys, btw, who were career Giants, and rightfully so
3) Saquon, despite his injury history, contributed mightily to the Giants in the years he was there and on the field and very productive, if not essential, to whatever limited offensive performance there was. Obviously, those Giant teams had many holes (OL, WR, Daniel Jones' inconsistency and, of course, on D where last year exposed in inability to even tackle at an NFL level) and obviously under-performed expectations during Saquon's tenure with the team
4) This administration, obviously led by Schoen and Daboll, paid Daniel Jones $140 mil - who WAS NOT their draft responsibility. Jones is proven out as mediocre at best and obviously prone to significant injury time lost. And now, most laughably, is the widespread notion of "how are we going to replace Daniel Jones?" because he is mediocre, we expect further injuries to befall him and he will likely not lead Giants to glory
5) Now, the also laughable "bailout" position re Saquon and the Eagles is "if he is great with the Eagles, it doesn't mean that same performance level would have been hit with the Giants had he been resigned because the Eagles are better and a real Super Bowl contender" - This is the most joke-worthy position of all when it could have been avoided by simply re-signing him
6) Schoen is now "on-the-record" as having a "cap" for Saquon, demonstrated by his question to Saquon's agent of, "is it OVER $12.5 mil apy with $25 guaranteed ?" because "we're not going to go there" meaning over that # - and the "is it in the Division?" comment is a ridiculous "cover my butt" comment because Schoen knew there would be fallout - as John Mara knows his fan base and market and rightfully designated Saquon as "the most popular Giant" in his Hard Knocks discussion with Schoen on the status of the Saquon saga
My opinion is that the Giants should have signed Saquon for "Eaglesque" money. He was a true and loyal Giant. This will become apparent this year because Saquon's replacement, Devin Singletary, is a decent NFL player, but about half as productive career-wise as Saquon. He is no Saquon and this will become very apparent early in the season when Jones is forced to throw to him as a third option under pressure. He will also not break runs like Saquon did.
I think the 2024 Giants go 7 -10ish and then all the off-season cries will be heard, especially as the Eagles go deep in the playoffs and Saquon is a leading part of the Eagles' success.
We go 5-12. Saquon comes back and destroys our defense. Torches us for 105 3 tds. And these same people saying “ oh well it was time to move on” will be the same people yelling “ why did we let saquon go Joe Shoene is dumb!”😅😂

Is it still true that Mara’s nephew is head of talent management? Because there is a serious talent development issue with the Giants and that situation seems like it could be caused by nepotism. Maybe move the nephew to a less important role
They got rod of the rb because hes a running back if saquon was the qb they would have paid him. Barkley is going to make us look dumb this season. But the Giants are heading into full rebuild mode, once all the DJ excuse makers have nothing left this season. Theyll try to find something tho, its what excuse makers do.

While Danny duds was throwing away games, fumbling stumbling and not reading defenses, saquon was carrying breaking and torching defensives. He got hurt on some wildly freakish plays, running down field slowing down only to have a defender slide his foot under him, saquon danced too much in the backfield cus he didnt trust that O line. That same O line people like you will use to excuse DJs trash play, but youll use it to hate on saquon. Sure you didnt want him here suuurrreeee
