Great Rural Towns in Idaho to Retire or Buy a Home.

  • Want to find a rural Idaho town to get a mortgage to buy a house and breath fresh air? What Californian doesn’t right? Today we are looking at great rural towns in Idaho. California's favorite landing spot for retirees and the Zoom Boom..
This is the 11th video in the series. We did the entire US, New Hampshire, Montana, California, Oregon, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Colorado, and Tennessee so far. Today we look at the Gem State.
With the towns in this video, we are looking for that sweet spot. A decent place to live that isn’t too close to any major cities, easy on the crime rate, not 5 hours away from a hospital or so far out they have horrible internet.
The health care knocked a bunch off this list.
In the last video, I explained that not all states have 10 good rural towns and I don’t want to waste your time with some towns that are a real reach just to get to 10. Got it? Get it? Good.
    Let’s take a look.

Summer is in the 90's with occasional excursions over 100 degrees.
Winters generally hover around 5-10 degrees, with occasional excursions down to -30.
Its almost ALWAYS windy. With -30 degrees you get a wind chill of -70 degrees. NOT mild winters.

    • @deuswulf6193
      @deuswulf6193 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Eh... A lot of Californians were moving to Idaho since the 50s, and the state became even redder as a result. In fact many of the beloved Idaho towns, such as Coeur D'Alene, developed the way they did because of that migration. California is more red than people realize, they just never control the areas that matter. Look at the district map and how they voted. Many of those are doing what those back in the 50s and 70s did, they are fleeing to Idaho to make sure it doesn't turn into another California situation. The corruption seems to come from the big cities and Idaho doesn't really have those, not, at least, like those in WA, OR and CA.

Its a has been. Nothing good left. No, I'm not being pessimistic, but honest. A lot of people can't handle honesty so they never grow. A good place to live? I was born here 64 years ago and have always called myself a man without a country. And never claim to be an American. Simply because it did go to Hell in a hand basket. @@sinsinnomore5555 Pure hyperbole on your part.
We also both know that the vast majority of fast food joints that do pop up, are largely employing younger teens and adults for work experience, which is how the rest of the US used to operate.
Furthermore, it is simply a lie to think that more homes is only about adding a taco bell on a street corner. You know that is not true.
There are many jobs in Idaho that need workers, high paying jobs. Local startups that need educated employees. Do you think Idahoans that go to college in order to look for good jobs out of state? Unfortunately that is happening. Idaho does not necessarily retain that group.
Economies are the lifeblood of any civilization, and those need growth.
Growth is natural and quite frankly, required when it comes to long term survival. There is a saying, if you don't grow (and not based on population), you are essentially dead. A city or state that does not grow in some form is "dead". This is kind of a universal rule.
Again, growth does not have to be based on population. All things must continue a process of developing.
You say 100 acre lots are being sold to turn them into 10 acre lots? So? There is no problem with that. Most of Idaho is federally owned land, or owned by mining and logging companies. There is a limit to the growth, and the rest will remain untouched.
The world is changing regardless of what you do, so every small state that wants to survive going forward will have to plan and develop accordingly, otherwise it won't survive with a lack of good growth. Emphasis on good.
A lack of population where its needed is just as bad as too much where it isn't. Balance is one of the biggest considerations. Idaho still has a lot of growing to do, especially because the economy and political power (influence) demands it.
Remember, the electoral college cares more about state population. If you want to have influence going forward, a means to defend that liberty, you should remember that as well.

The population in ID has towns with negative population growth because the cost of living hasn't kept up with the pay scale nationwide. You seem ok with the empty cities in mid Us that once had Americans building American parts, for American companies to sell as American profits. Ports, highways, and parks are owned by foreign countries, sold out by politicians that are selling a states resources not making $ off of the population. That attempt failed in 08 when the land companies first bought up Id and states just like it, to exploit during the bubble obidenbama planned when appointing Wall st CEO's, V. isa corp, Monsanto and Halliburton. Blck Rock owns lots of land, not the fed.
Fast foods businesses that used to be a teenagers summer job, is now on average for 28 year olds.

I came from Kansas to Utah to get away from the awful weather 8 months out of the year and lack of scenery, and I ended up hating Utah because everything revolves around the Wasatch Front, which itself is an urban hellscape. Idaho reminds me exactly of the type of rural which I come from in pretty much every way, with nice dry weather and mountains, so I ended up in southeastern Idaho.
I do a lot of work in the Intermountain West and some in the PNW. I would personally say the PNW begins West of the Snake River. Idaho and Montana are definitely Intermountain West, but somewhat of their own category of such.

I get it alot of u people don't want other people to move to Idaho. But really please be nice to people. They just want what we have peace and quiet. Freedom to buy where they want. Just think if they had said that to our for father's, where would we be now ? U really hate bullies that say don't come here, but we r friendly and caring people just not to outsiders.

Pretty spot on, I’d replace Idaho City (do not have California plates on your car if you move there) with Victor which is down the highway from Driggs. There is less humidity in some places here, people from places like Washington who are used to high humidity say the air is dry and sometimes their nose or throat dries. I'd recommend bringing a humidifier or stay more hydrated than usual. It's decent weather here, but it's just strangely dry which can make a hot or cold day unpleasant, especially if you have pollen or grass allergies
