I am currently building a mono-red dragons deck with Homura, Human Ascendent. I have a version of him at the helm of a phoenix tribal deck, so I wanted to try the dragons out and see how they do. It's worked pretty well so far, but I'm pretty new to MTG so I'm sure it'll improve as my learning grows. Thank you for sharing!
Love how informative your videos are. It's cool to see the high budget and low budget options. Wonder if it would be feasible to have a low budget decklist for commanders like these, when showcasing the higher budget builds :)
By this time there have been released so many cool new cards for this deck: Roaming Throne, Throne of Eldraine, Cavern-Hoard Dragon, Bone-Hoard Dracosaur. Realm-Scorcher Hellkite provides great spot removal. I would also include many of the cheaper dragons from Baldur's Gate as they create Treasure tokens and also trigger Lathliss: Patron of the Arts, Swashbuckler Extraordinaire, Reckless Barbarian. Vengeful Ancestor gives us more control and Thunderbreak Regent would be great as well. I wanted to make a Miirym deck, and I probably will, but mono-coloured decks are easier to play and seem much more efficient.
I like the new format with the explanation. Keep up the great work. I agree on the fire diamond logic and setting up the next turn. Often I have sol ringed into a diamond of sorts and the table cringes.
One thing to remember about most of red's looting effects are not actually card advantage because you spend one card on casting something like Faithless Looting and also have to discard a card to draw 2. You have the same number of cards in hand as you did before you cast FL.
This is the mtg equivalent of having to read a persons upbringing before getting to a recipe on their blog. Except this is interesting, because learning why people play what they love, and how they came to adore it, is actually attention worthy.
I also have Red Cmd deck with Lathliss as commander, I actually run a few cards in this list!! Thank you for the ideas, I wanna make it a scary, I also cherish Lathliss, one of my first MTG cards, that deck is actually the first ever Magic deck I made, just gone under many changes, and of course Drakuseth!! Drakuseth is easily my favorite in fact I have one for each of my decks with red haha
♥️ Lathliss and the Ur Dragon are my two dragon tribal commanders. The Ur Dragon has good amount of ramp and card draw. Unfortunately I only have 1 Goldspan Dragon and is currently in it.
awesome vid - I think the difference with signets v. diamonds is that signets provide color-fixing - but it's a fair point, maybe diamonds are under-appreciated in mono-colored decks. That said, you still might benefit from felwar stone over fire diamond, as it is superior on turn 1 regardless (you have at least 1 addl. mana to do something, even if it's off-color) and more similar to an arcane signet.
I throw Lathliss with Garax into my Tiamat deck and flooded it with dragons. I'm debating putting in a Conflux and Door to Nothingness. Trying to find the Black Dragon from the original Kamigawa block, Dragon Arch and Dragons Blood, and Kilnmouth Dragon.
My partner built a Tiamat deck and I set to optimize it as much as we can afford at the moment. It's really greedy and really fun. I really love lathliss though and I'd really like to build a mono red dragon someday
Extraplanar Lens is a universal effect. So anyone who has a Mountain would tap it for RR instead of R. With Snow lands, only people with other Snow-Covered Mountains get the benefit. It's a small edge, but it is still an edge.
Atarka,World Render, She gives every dragon Double strike when they attack you get a crucible of fire some dragons down give them trample watch there creatures, and life go down
So jealous and happy at the same time not by the dragon deck but more of you get to play it with your family.
Viewing this in october 2024 is painfully ironic considering the mana crypt/lotus/extortionist situation ☠️🔥☠️
Your calm voice & the soothing music about lulled me to sleep.🤤😴
Great video👍🏼
Dude. Your voice is perfect for this. Keep going.

Fantastic!
This is a good video for beginners.
Im definitely taking some inspiration from this deck list to make my lathliss deck, thank you for this help
Good call on no wipes -- a lot of those dragons just remove people's stuff anyways, and unsealing is basically a wipe if you cast a 7 drop

Awesome brew! I find mono red the hardest color for me to brew!
It's a fun deck. I got maybe two thirds of your cards in my Lathliss deck. But feel I really need an Ugin...
I also build an Lathliss text but i builted more around treasure tokens zu built a mana ramp fornde expensic dragons i will cast :)
I love Invasion of Tarkir. I'm playing it in my Miirym deck.

I've been burned by Fellwar stone a few times, so it's not as high on my list as other people's.

How about Nogi, Draco-Zealot? Won't make any tokens with Lathliss, but he can easily benefit from those Dragon-specific enchantments :)

If Panharmonicon is on the field when you cast demanding dragon, does the ability trigger twice?
Yup!
@@commanderbydaenen sweeeet. I was lucky to get the artifact today.
Why can't you use Mountain instead of Snow Covered Mountain? I'm new to the game, so I'm still learning the basics.
would like to request a fully competitive build. as best as it could possibly be for tiamat deck, my card pool is restricted to mtg arena
I play 2 dragon decks: Ur-Dragon is one of them, the other is Miirym
So why snow lands? As a new player why would I want them?

@@commanderbydaenen ahh ok. Cheers
Love this
What’s the song name?
Dragon Rojo, by The Mini Vandals
I hess. this doesn’t fit this specific deck well, but gonlin and dragon speaker shaman are great to cheat out even more dragon cards for cheap😁
We used to run both of those, but they got cut for better ramp like Dockside and Mana Crypt. They're great when you're just starting out, though.
16 6 mana spells when you want to play your commander that turn? Seems pretty clunky
