  • Watch this video to see how you can use ABA therapy techniques at home when playing with your child. This video displays NET (Natural Environment Teaching), Tacting, Building Rapport, and Pairing all in one play session. We love showing you how we engage with kids at the clinic to boost communication, social, and functional play skills!

Is there in naturalistic teaching some kind of record? maybe a sheet, app or something else. I haven't seen any type during the videos I've watched so far.

Thank you for your question! Keeping extra notes would be great for updating BCBAs on progress! The goal of NET is to teach programs that are already opened by the BCBA for the client, as well as teach them other contextually appropriate topics. Taking data on programs would be a component of ABA NET in the way that the BCBA prefers.

How long do you continue teaching? Is there a time during NET where they can just play and are not asked questions?

Great question! NET is separate from reinforcement time, peer play, or free play. Since NET is defined by probing programs and new information, once we are no longer asking questions, the NET session has ended. NET does not have any requirements of time or limit to program probing. It is up to the therapist's discretion to decide what is appropriate with their BCBA's guidance!

Additionally- BCBA's may or may not have NET requirements for their specific clients. Any requirements would be considered add-ons to NET planned by a BCBA.
