My family visited Winter Haven and Bartow from SF Bay Area CA on 4/18/23. New constructions & road work everywhere. Winter haven is congested with too much growth. Bartow is coming up.
Yes, too much IRRESPONSIBLE growth. WH wanna be BIG no matter what. Lived in an established 50's neighborhood for 25 years - Tiny, empty lot next door removed a magnificent oak to build cookie-cutter home 7 foot away from me! New home(s) with unacceptable room between each other. Privacy is now a luxury due to bad zone and building planning. It's making much of Winter Haven an ugly eye-sore of congestion.
Thank you so much for the very refreshing video. We are moving to Winter Haven from San Diego. It was between Winter Haven or Port Richey. We are choosing Winter Haven.
I am new to the area and it all seems rather non-descript. Not being critical, just don’t seem to find a hub of activity. Is there a “downtown” area or central location with restaurants, etc. With all the lakes, etc the area seems very chopped up. Thanks for any streets or intersections that might be helpful.
Hi Barb! I would love to provide you the info. Check out Central Avenue first. It's off Hwy 17. That is the "downtown" area. There are a few good small restaurants there and many bars to choose from. Most other restaurants will be on Hwy 17 such as Carrabba's Italian Grill. If you stay on Central Ave, cross Hwy 17 then go to Lake Howard Drive, you'll run into four bars right on the lake. Very nice atmosphere. The best times to go for live music are Fri through Sun. I hope this helps you out. If you have any other questions, let me know!
Hi Tammy Our potential address would be 3404 Fox Ridge street. Are you familiar with that neighborhood? Anything you could share would be greatly appreciated. I love your authentic content.
Oh yes, you and I will practically be neighbors! It's a very nice neighborhood and near Garden Grove Elementary School where my daughter went to school years ago. The neighborhood isn't far from Legoland and Hwy 27. You can take hwy 27 to I-4 then either go east to Orlando (about an hour's drive) or west to Tampa (about an hour and a half drive to two, depending on traffic). Thank you also for the kind words, it's much appreciated!
