My illustrious Great-Uncle was, and remains Sean Treacy who was shot by the English on Talbot Street Dublin. He was just 26 years old ❤
There's a block of flats in Dublin 1 named after your uncle. By all accounts he was an absolute gent

If you want a Glimpse, just a Glimpse of what the English were Doing, just have a listen to Christy Moore Song which is Called....ON A SINGLE Day, and that will give you an accurate account of what Food was Shipped from this little Country, on a SINGLE DAY IN 1947, as our People Starved and died by the sides of the Roads and in the Ditches of Ireland........Dan Breen was a Hero, with so many more who spilled there Blood for Ireland going down through the Centuries!

I have a copy of his book, My Fight For Irish Freedom and what a read it is, riveting would be an understatement. His biography costs less than a euro on kindle. Well worth a read. Breen was a force of nature.

I’d be very interested to hear about his time in New York, he ran a speakeasy and apparently gangs in the city were intimated by him and didn’t try to extort him.

It is possible to be both depending on your view point. I regard him as a brilliant tactician and fearless fighter for Ireland's freedom. The British of course class him as a terrorist because he stood against their oppression, but what they really can't stomach is the fact that they were beaten by them. Have you ever noticed how the British film industry made numerous films about the gallant French, Norwegian, Polish etc resistance fighters who fought the ruthless Germans? Did they not see the irony?

HERO -shot several times and still stood up for his country. The word terrorist - all war is terroristic. The state perpetrates way more terror than any guerrilla army. The Irish Proclamation gives to the people the right to rebel by any means necessary, just as the Declaration of Independence in the US. The Officials and Provisionals too --they had a right to defend themselves by military means.
How was he a terrorist more like a freedom fighter fighting against terrorism
