The thing that impresses me the most about Dubov’s play is that he hardly ever goes for the top three most obvious moves. He’s not quick to grab material yet is always on the attack. Love his games!
Dubov had really amazing games in the blitz and rapid sections with no losses. That is something even magnus couldn't manage. He found beautiful positional sacrifices and many other games from the rapid section qlso deserved to be covered. He did really well in both tourneys and wish him more luck in classical since he is loaing some magic and touch in that time format.
Dubov deadly in blitz/rapid because he gets into very complicated positions, where he thrives, and puts the opponent into time trouble. This suits him well as he doesn't always play the "best" moves, but a lot of "Dubovious" ones, but in classical it isn't as effective. Would be great to see him find the balance in classical because I think on a good day he can beat everyone.
#suggestion I am wondering if you can cover this game from 2020 which gave Hans Niemann the GM title. In the game there were no captures. It's IM Hans Niemann vs GM Sebastien Maze Sunway Sitges Open round 9
Dubov is an amazing player, just wish that we can see him challenge for the big 10 or maybe even the candidates tournament or something like that, but I love his style of play the most 😎
@11:38 what if black plays Bf8 instead of taking the rook? Is it Qd5+ and then if king moves to H7, you can take on Qxe4+ with check, or if King goes to H8 instead, then rook takes bishop with Rxf8. And the same checkmate variations occur with queen and rooks which will make short work of black no matter what he does. Agadmator probably should have explained it imo since it would likely be played by most players instead of Bxd8 which just leads to mate or clearly bad/losing position as shown in the video.
#suggestion From the 2023 world rapid and blitz championship any interesting game where white didn't open with e4 or d4. Preferred the rapid and a b3 or english opening would be nice. Thank you.
Dubov is playing with hearth and even a player with big character, like Joko in Tennis, I remember he refused playing with mask. My chess idol and hero.
However in last game Pragna could (and should) have played Qh2 after Dubov's Qxh3+. There is really a cool move which gives Dubov win even if this was played.
Does anyone play to lose a tournament? No. He just miscalculated that one but even if his draw stood he’d be playing Magnus for the gold so I can’t say he would’ve won “if he wanted”.
@@rstinger94 I agree but most games that he drew ..he didn't even try to win..it was like he didn't want to play..for example game against artemiov..he was up on time..because his opponent was late ,and he had the white pieces but he offered a draw after move three.
Yep luv seeing Dubov attacking play. No-one plays in his unusual brilliant style. Just wish we saw him more and that he would be a bit more consistent in Classical.
Everytime you listen to a dubov interview he gives the impression that he doesn’t really care about chess. I wonder what would happen if he actually cared
In game 3, other than time being against him, is there a reason why Pragg didn't play Qh2 to block check instead of Kg1? I can't find a continuation for black that leads to as such devastation with Qh2
Thank you for covering dubov games. He is always entertaining. #MMA What do you think of the matchup between Islam Makhachev vs Leon Edwards for the Welterweight belt if UFC decided to put it together? How does Islam fair against Leon & who wins in your opinion? Thanks again.
Regarding the recent controversial DRAW.... What if chess governing body decides to omit the DRAW option itself? Stop the 'per move' time increments after a certain number of moves say e.g. 90 onwards. Let there be finite time limit allocated say 15 minutes (or different depending on time format). Then, in so called 'drawn' positions, let people repeat moves until someone's clock runs out... This can be one possible solution. This will also help reduce some seemingly illogical consequences like Classical tour winner getting decided on rapid or blitz due to multiple draws in the original format Or Armageddons where merely a draw with black pieces (although with reduced time) gives one a WIN...
"How to support the channel?" is bad grammar. "How to support the channel" is a noun phrase, and an incomplete sentence, as it has no verb. It could be "How to support the channel:" with a colon, or "How can you support the channel?", "How can I support the channel?" or, with a passive verb, "How can the channel be supported?" Those are complete sentences. I do understand that such questions are common on the 'Net these days, with a lot of non-native English speakers posting. Myself, I favor the colon, but aside from that, any sentence with a verb will do. I guess the colon doesn't imply a complete sentence. There is also, "How can one support the channel." Aside from that matter, you are a great chess puzzle spotter, and it's even better that they occur in real games. It gives you an idea how hard they are to spot in time controls; and a strong enough player to explain a lot of what's going on. I also like the pics, and the human drama behind the games, too.
