You know what would be an interesting topic? Solar panels. There are several videos on TH-cam that discussed the topic but I've only seen 1 local TH-camr (who also happens to be a reality TV winner) tackled it and the only reason he tackled it is because he was asked by the company to be their product endorser. I think the reason why local TH-camrs don't tackle it is according to the other one, mas maganda daw magpa-solar panel kapag ginagawa pa lang yung bahay. It took him a long time because apparently you need to secure some kind of permit to have it installed plus so many other things. It would be good to hear an unsponsored video about different solar panel distributors or other renewable source of energy. Like meron na ba dito sa Pilipinas nung maliit na version ng windmills? I forgot what they are called. And what if you also want to use that along with your solar panels? How does one go about it?
Ito pa naman yung type na content na gusto ko gawin pag nag TH-camr ako hahaha kaso walang budget ee. Pero sana nga may mag discuss ng mga ganitong topic sa TH-cam Philippines.
Based on my own experience, hairline cracks on the plaster (internal) occur due to shrinkage which occur whithin 1-5 years after completion of the building. Repair method: cut V-groove and fill with suitable concrete filler i.e. fosroc nito mortar or similar. As for water seepage on basement: Water seepage occur if you touch the water level on the ground. Repair method: If not properly sealed using tanking system, the repair method normally used is injection grouting suitable for water seepage location. For the roof slab, normally a screed of 50mm on top of the concrete slab has to be laid. As for the repair using cementitious waterproofing is only for short term solution, as roofs are exposed to extreme weather condition a thin layer of cementitious waterproofing will only last for about a year( longest). As for the straight-line cracks on the joint of the roof (between wall and floor slab), a proper details ought to be adopt hacking joint area by around 100each side and incorporate stainless steel mesh using stainless steel screws and re-render/ re-screed allowing water to flow away from the surfaces. Using products is good but only for short term solution, properly detailing is more of long term solution.
For a flat concrete roof, there are several good options available locally. Even a concrete screed will require a waterproofing membrane. I agree, that the flexible cementicious waterproofing is not sufficient for an exposed roof. A torch-applied modified bitumen waterproofing membrane with two layers would be the best option and will last about 30 years. Another option would be a polyurethane based membrane. Available in the Philippines for example Sika Darco K10 Premium Polyurethane Waterproofing Membrane. This may last about 10 to 20 years. Both types of waterproofing membranes should be checked regularly and can be easily repaired.
sa totoo lang di po ako house geek or something. wala po talaga ako alam sa bahay and stuff pero dahil sa inyo sir Slater maraming salamat at may natututunan na po ako tungkol sa mga ganitong bagay 100% recommend ko sa mga family and friends ko thank you again sir! and continue to make more this content! thank you so much!
Hi Slater, informative and reassuring as usual. Home repair always gives me the jitters, but you're very reassuring. Can you do tiles? Especially regrouting/maintenance. Be safe.
Currently building my house, me being so mitikoloso lalo na sa light switch just like sir slater. Weeks from now makaka lipat na kami. Hoping to get a heart like from sir slater 💕
Real estate ang job ko. Problema ko din yan sa ibang house na pinapakita ko sa mga client ko. Kadalasan sa mga house may cracks sa mga side wall and i really dont know how to answer them. Kahit yung bahay na inooffer ko is wala pang isang taon nakatayo. Ngayon alam ko na ang isasagot ko. Thanks Mr. Slater!
I think the most crucial is what type of soil the foundation of the house would be on. If clay soil or sandy soil, the type of preparations before the foundation, materials and technical knowledge applied are the most important.
I really love how Slater imparts his knowledge. It's very structured and easy to understand. Hang ay kaayo mosulti nganu mahitabo ang usa ka butang with some examples. I was an engineering graduate myself back in 2009 although wala nko napractice akong course, but still you can still learn from a fellow engineer or in my case engineering graduate. hehe. Slater is a man of value and humility, although he's an A+ man yet he remains humble. It's a good thing he's sharing his knowledge to his fellow pinoys. Anyway, I'm a guy though not straight, but I can say slater is handsome. His best assets are his nice, cute eyes, his height and of course, his brains. Pogi points for Slater, the man. bagay jud sila ni Krissy, they are people who have substance, value and humility. Keep it up! ^^
I'll surely comeback and rewatch all these kind of solutions once I get to have my own forever home. And that's my long time prayer. Thank you for very informative videos sir slater. More videos to come! ❤️

How about cracks in prefabricated concrete wall. I've notice our house had, what was once were hairline cracks, become larger cracks. Although No water seeps through, I'm just concerned if it's safe to just use concrete epoxy on prefab wall.
Walls cracking (as long as they are not load bearing / no carrying any weight) are typically okay - unless tabingi na yung wall or you can see through the other side. Would still he hetter to have someone check if youre unsure. :)
I really really need this, masyado na akong nag woworry sa mga cracks dito sa balay. This year lang natapos ang bahay pero may mga hairline cracks na. But seeing this video, nakaka wala ng worry. Thank you

OMG thank you for this, Sir Slater! Main problem namin dito sa house namin ang moisty interior walls, most likely because of our exterior walls and poor paint job (they just applied waterproofing paint and that's about it). May good pointers na ako for future repainting and repairs dito sa bahay. 🤟🏼
Content suggestion Engr. Slater Explain what is Moist walls? Its causes. Its effects. What to do when you have moist walls in your house. Thank you! Civil Engineering student here po.
Based on my own experience, working in Germany 20 yrs ago with light block AAC, AAC blocks move left/right an up/down on temp an there none weight bearing. movement ties is a must. also if your course is up to a concrete pillar you put 10mm polystyrene sheet between the the two then fill front on back with flex mortar the same at the top when height of the wall reaches the concrete slab. (light block is none weight bearing) the slab will sag at times.
Very timely and informative. Thanks a lot to the super handsome Engr. Young! Maybe next time, you can give us advices too about how to prevent leaks from installed polycarbonate roofing especially the dugtungan in between and sa dulo attached to the wall.
Speaking of bridge expansion joints, I've seen several bridges in the Philippines where there are no expansion joints or have been asphalted over or the metal expansion joints stolen (sold in junk shops). So when the span expands, the joints of pavement pushes against each other creating a hump.

we just had our house renovated last year during pandemic. And after few months we moved in, we noticed a lot of cracks on walls which gave us anxiety. Thank you for this informative video really helps us understand better whats happening. ❤
From personal experience of witnessing construction in Indonesia for domestic builds. While the men work hard and some are extremely diligent there seems to be a lack of standardised training. I was gob smacked at how poor the construction was. We bought a brand new house and within a month it was leaking like a sieve, spoke to developer and there answer was it rains in Indonesia. My own home has been built 20 years and never leaked. There should be better training for house construction, as a house is an investment and should not be a liability. All that said good video on how to remedy issues which im sure people are glad to see.
