They made him too badass/powerful opponent he beats him, they make him an after thought.

You got the commercial kind of right. The luchador takes his mask off to eat the Big Mac and we do see Shocker’s face, but after he finishes he pulls his face off to reveal another mask underneath. So the idea is the crowd thought they got to see his face, but they really didn’t. And yes, it was incredibly wacky and stupid.

Nah Brian, I Remember the Shocker McDonald’s commercials clearly in my head. This is how the commercial went: he ordered the burger meal and sat down to eat in the restaurant. Realizing he couldn’t eat with his mask on he took it off revealing his face and everything. After he got done eating he took off the face, revealing that it was just a mask and under it was another luchador mask. That is the reason why the crowd was disappointed in the end

Excellent review Wrestling with Wregret. Seeing Raven conquer the mountain, winning the world championship, all the while as a face, and he did so amongst some stiff competition. Thankfully Jeff Jarrett was removed from this main event otherwise we’d be subjected to another meaningless championship reign. Thank you Raven, love you, brother!

Great video, little correction. Shocker not only wasn't a masked wrestler in mexico, he had lost his mask in 99 and made it his gimmick to claim he was "100% beautiful" (100% guapo as his very 2005 beanie says) and that losing his mask was the greatest thing to happen to him

This was the catalyst of my favorite era in TNA. Slamiversary to Unbreakable was absolute magic.
But once Raven dropped the title to Jarrett on a non-televised indie show in Canada and not only didn’t get his rematch at Bound For Glory but he never got one at all, that left a real bitter taste in my mouth that just kept growing as the years went on.

15:35 I'll be honest, it always surprises/baffles me that whenever people start talking about/ranking who they think are the Top 5/10 best Wrestling Commentators ever, that Mike Tenay isn't nearly given the amount of respect of ever even brought up in the conversation as much as he should have tbh.
Like ever since I first started watching wrestling, (WCW in like 94/95), and Tenay made his debut in like mid to late 96. Well, im pretty sure it's around there anyways.
I like seem to vaguely remember them bringing up him coming on for the first time for a cruiserweight match I'm almost positive. I think it was a match between Guerrero, (I seem to vividly remember it being an Eddie match) vs someone i just cant rememeber, (i dont think it was one of the more popular cruiserweights), but the only thing I vividly remember is them bringing him up for the first time to commentate for a cruiserweight match cause they said he was more familiar with that style and their move sets those guys pulled off and actually knew the names of the moves and all im almost positive 😅.
Anyways, even though I think he was always good no matter who it was wrestling, I think he was at his best when it was cruiserweights/smaller guys pulling off a bunch of high flying moves. I also think that he and Tony worked well with each other and were a great tamdom working alongside each other calling the matches, and idk how much if at all he was with them, but they really had a great trio of Commentators with Bobby Heenan, Tenay, and Tony Schiavone, and honestly when Eric was on the mic he wasn't bad at calling matches and all as well.
I think are massively underrated when it comes to them commentating in their era because of how great JR, Lawler, Cornette, Heyman, Taz, and Cole were during the attitude era/into the Smackdown era.
But yeah, I really believe Tanay doesn't get the credit ye deserves for being a great commentator and just how good he is at knowing like almost all the names of any move being pulled off, even having to correct Tony and Bobby numerous times I rememebr lol.
But yeah, dudes a top 5 of all time imo. He's deff one of the best of all tine/to ever do it.

The thing with Scott D'Amore taking the moonsault was his idea. Scott had just been promoted to the booking committee and decided to write himself off TV, or was written of TV so to speak so he wouldn't be tempted to be front and center in most scenes, as the legend goes.

TNA Slammiversary 2005 was an amazing PPV I was just watching this a few weeks ago the main event king of the mountain match was awesome on the next episode of impact James mitchell would return and that's how we get abyss and James mitchell together I mean they've been teasing that in the lead up to victory road 2004 that's such an iconic pairing that's easily James Mitchell's best run in my opinion great review brian glad you're reviewing this PPV.
