    Budget MTG Decks
    All magic fun, all cards under a dollar
    We here at Budget MTG Decks love playing constructed Magic: the Gathering! Whether it’s EDH / Commander, standard or modern, duel or multiplayer, we can’t get enough of it.
    Our vision of MTG is a game which encourages strategic thinking, social interaction and above all…fun! To make this accessible to everyone we decided to lower the two largest barriers which people encounter with this game:
    1: Cost of building a Magic deck.
    2: Complexity of building a Magic deck.
    Our mission at Budget MTG Decks is to provide full deck tech videos describing ready to play EDH / Commander and duel decks. With in depth commentary on each card and overall play style. To make sure the decks are truly budget we have limited the price of all our cards to under a dollar (with exception of the commanders). Now everyone can join the Magic: the Gathering fun!

      You don't need the token card. You can use anything you like but we would not recommend penny's as they are round and then you have no idea if the creature is tapped or not.

      The problem with regeneration is that is has been replaced with Indestructible. No new creatures will ever have the regeneration mechanic. So it's only relevant for people playing with older sets. So we could post a short explanation of it on our Twitter and Facebook but we won't dedicate a whole video to it. Sorry about that :/

    Hi budget mtg deck
    you have forgot a little detail on your tutorial :D
    I have did my research
    MTG rule book
    121.3. If a permanent has both a +1/+1 counter and a -1/-1 counter on it, N +1/+1 and N -1/-1 counters are removed from it as a state-based action, where N is the smaller of the number of +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters on it.
    example: if a creature have 2. +1+1 counters on in it and there's a -1-1 counter place on that creature, you remove the +1+1 counter and the -1-1 counter from that creature and that creature is missing 1. +1+1 on it,
    ...
    so what I mean, there 2 +1+1 counters on that creature and you place a -1 -1 counter on that creature, that 1. -1-1 counter and that 1. +1+1 counter, there gone because they remove each other out of the game.
    Thanks everyone for reading my comment :D

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, we actually omit many rules in our tutorial videos. The reason why is because we only want to teach the very minimum possible for new players to be able to play their first games. Including all the rules would be overkill and only serve to confuse people trying to get into the game.

    Okay so I’m new and just starting out in magic and I have a question about counters… if a +1\+1 from a creature effect is placed on a target creature you control but has the condition of “when enters the battlefield” or says something like “when this creature attacks place a +1/+1 on all attacking creatures that already have a +1/+1 counter on it” do those counters drop off at the end phase or do they stay on the creature?
    An example card would be “Oran-Rief Ooze”. If they stay on does that mean that they stack on one another? Like I attack it gets its counters and on my next turn I attack again and they keep the counters from the previous turn plus one for the current turn? I’m just trying to get a specific understanding. I just bought a Vampire Commander Deck and it’s got A LOT of +1/+1 effects in it.

    I have a question about a combo in magic combining a new card with a classic card. Here it is: I want to summon phyrexian dreadnaught by sacrificing worldspine wurm which is already in play it has power surpassing 12 so it is sacrificed, by doing this I summon Phyrexian dreadnaught into play and does the sacrificed worldspine wurm's effect still kick in to be shuffled into my library?

    So basically even though a creature token can grow in strength due to other effects creature tokens can be used as cannon fodder on the battlefield until you get a stronger creature?

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every creature can be used as fodder until you get a better creature. Just remember that at the beginning of the game it's more important to have creatures than it is to have lots of life. Don't be afraid to take a few hits before you start losing creatures to ineffective blocks.

    So if I have a token card, I cannot
    use it without the proper card that summons it ? and I'm not sure I see the difference between an enchantment aura and a counter buffing a creature
    anyway thanks, your vids are very well done and help me a lot !

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's correct the token card needs the "Real" card to be created. An enchantment that gives +1/+1 and a counter that gives +1/+1 function exactly the same way. The only difference is that you can destroy the enchantment with a destroy enchantment spell and there are no such things as destroy counters spells.

      Budget MTG Decks So, does that mean if I'm allowed to summon a 1/1 white Bird token with flying, it must be a bird token? Or will any 1/1 or white token be acceptable?

    • @jessecollingwood1002
      @jessecollingwood1002 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Xoloseof Hammertail I'm guessing you figured this out already but since you could in theory use anything to represent a token in the absence of the actual token you could use any other token as long as you and your opponent agree and remember it was a 1/1 flying bird. It could get confusing though if you were using a 2/2 green wolf token to represent that bird though. I'd say if you don't have the actual token use something else like card shaped paper with the word 1/1 bird token written on it.

    If a token has an ability or attribute for instance, first strike, and the card doesn't say it but the token does, which one do you follow

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the card says put down a 1/1 human soldier and you look through your collection and can only find a 1/1 human soldier token with First Strike, then that means you don't have the right token at your disposal. You can just use dice in a pinch or simply remember that the token you produced does not actually have first strike +Exalted Robin. Long story short, the card that produces the tokens is always right.

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can *****, anything from instants to boost their strength to enchantments to give them special abilities. Token creatures are exactly the same as regular creatures once they hit the battlefield, the only difference is once they leave the battlefield and enter another zone (your hand or the graveyard etc..) they cease to exist.

    I've seen players put a dice on top of the token card to represent how many of those tokens are on the battlefield. What confuses me is if let's say: they have 3 1/1 elf tokens but only want to attack with one and leave the other two untapped. If the player taps the token with the dice on top it seems as if 3 elf tokens are attacking, which can lead to confusion. Is declaring that only one token as attacker verbally enough?

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We don't think it's enough +JCMELKOR. This is the reason we always have two of each token. To represent those which are tapped and those which are not.

    Say you have a creature that makes tokens but that creature dies do the tokens stay

      Yes the tokens stay regardless of the source that created them.

    I still don't understand tokens. Where do you get them from?

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You play a card from you hand such as Dragon Fodder. The Dragon Fodder Sorcery goes to the graveyard and you grab two Goblin tokens from outside the game and put them on the battlefield. A token can be anything to represent the newly created creatures, such as dice, gems, pieces of paper or the official card tokens often found in booster packs.

    can you actually get token cards like the ones you show?

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they come in packs or you can buy them as singles from your local store.

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It means that you remove them from the battlefield, graveyard, hand or exile zone. Unlike normal magic cards which continue to exist in those zones.

    Can tokens attack and block as usual?

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they can. They are treated exactly like creatures represented by a card except tokens disappear when they go to the graveyard, exile zone or to your hand.

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No you don't +JustDaz. You can just use the back of a card you are not using and put dice on it to show power and toughness. If you create multiple tokens you can also just add another dice at the top to denote the amount of tokens.

    guys what exactly is colorless mana and how is it works??

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Colorless mana works the same as mana of a color. You can just see it as a 6th color of magic except it has no color.

    • @badassturtlz2797
      @badassturtlz2797 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    At my school some kids and counselors are playing a blue counter as a creature for example if a card says "Place down 1/1 re goblin with flying on to the battlefield" he will put a counter not a card. Do you have to have a token creature card in your hand to play it?

    • @BudgetMTGDecks
      @BudgetMTGDecks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you do not. If a card tells you to put down a 1/1 token for example you can just use a dice, or counter to represent the creature.

    • @robertlozyniak3661
      @robertlozyniak3661 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or, you can just write "1/1 red flying goblin"on a scrap of paper and use that as a token.
