    Love the Hank Williams stories!
My great grandmother, Carrie Carolina Harden, and Hank Jr’s grandmother, Artie Mae Harden, were first cousins. Artie Mae was the Mother of Audrey and Audrey was Hank Jr’s Mom.

I know it helps perpetuate the legend when one dies young but this is one man I would've liked to see grow old and hear the stories of his younger years. He barely got to live them many of them though. I loved listening to my own grandfathers tales, he was born the year after Hiram (Hank) and I'm lucky I got to know him and hear his stories. Miss you grandpa.

My family roots go deep into the same area that Hank was from. My grandpa left Alabama in early 1900's to marry a Florida girl but they returned to his home near Andalusia, Alabama for years and then back to Florida where my mom was born. My husband and I moved many years to many States but finally wound up living now near Andalusia, Alabama where Hank and Audrey was married. We live very close to Georgianna, Alabama where Hank was raised. I am enjoying these videos very much. There is a memorial in Andalusia with a picture where Hank and Audrey married.

I happen to like Audrey's off key, overly affected voice. Especially when she does duets with Hank. Particularly in 'Dear Brother' and in 'The Pale Horse and his Rider'. They get all dissonant in that high preening register. It's like Country Noise-Rock.

If they put Hank in a tuxedo like they did to Eddy Arnold and gave him a regular gig in Vegas that would not have worked. Hank's world was just what it was. No more. I am 75 years old. Still pickin' and singin' songs nobody wants to hear anymore. Not my world either. I'm qualified to know how Hank Williams would have felt. Those old-time country singers were my teachers and didn't know it. Best teachers I ever had.

I'm gonna tell you a story and i don't care if you believe or not my great uncle Jay Yates was 15 when a man by the name of Hank Williams approached him to be in his band and play guitar The story has it he met with my great grandma and even offered 200 dollars in exchange for having Jay play for him but she declined and said he was nothing more than an alcoholic and her son wasn't gonna be apart of it.. I thought this was a load of garbage until my uncle jay's passing in the 90's and I found two pictures of Hank Williams in his military trunk one of them had an autograph and a short message on the back that said Thank you J.C. If you change your mind let me know-Hank...

Jinka1950, not anymore. Hank Jr. cleaned his act up and quit the drinking and drugging, pretty much because if he didn’t he knew he was going to die. The docs had told him his body couldn’t continue to function if he didn’t change his lifestyle. Please don’t continue to hold a person’s past mistakes against them, because, like it or not, we all have a past and we all have made plenty of mistakes. It’s not the mistakes that make a person or break a person, it’s whether or not we LEARN from our mistakes. I can’t imagine that Hank Jr. had an easy time growing up under the shadow of his dad, Hank Sr., a country music legend, and having everyone looking at him to fill his daddy’s shoes and replace the legend that country music had lost too soon. And that’s exactly what the country music industry did to Hank Jr., but unfortunately he became more of a legend for his hardcore partying lifestyle than for his music. He should have never been expected to be a copy of Hank Sr., and endure that kind of pressure, and he might not have turned to drugs and alcohol to cope. But I’m glad to see he changed his ways. I saw an interview with Hank Jr. many years ago and he said now sweet tea has replaced the booze he used to drink, lol.

I know this is a little late. This guy was the upright bass player. Most country bands in those days had the bass player dress up like bumpkins/clowns and do little comedy skits between songs.
