My personal opinion is that thicker wrapper cigars like broadleaf are best kept at 65% humidity, and thinner wrapper cigars like connecticut shade are best at that 68% to 70%. Or you keep everything at 70% and dry box the thicker wrapper cigars before you smoke them. Great information as always keep up the good work
Thanks a lot guys, very good info. Propylene Glycol is the main ingredient in the liquid used for artificial fog machines they use them in theaters, etc. And its is also used in cosmetics to draw out excessive humidity in your skin (perspiration for example). Thanks Bradley, Thanks Justin.
Brad, something to take into consideration with the large new air humidor you showed is that it is cooled by a compressor which removes humidity as it cools, this is also why it has active humidification built into it so you may still run into the same issue with having to refill the water tray even with a PG solution.
I tried a few methods and currently I'm using an airtight Tupperdor that holds about 30 cigars, with a single 69% Boveda pack, sitting on the floor of my bedroom closet, and it is working very well. With a completely airtight container your humidifying system will last quite a long time.
I called you the day you said you was going to make this video!!! My humidor is fluctuating like crazy still but I’m getting low on sticks. Next time I buy some boxes I will try this out!
Just ordered the water beads you recommended. Will give these a try. Have used Boveda but have never had them hold 69% RH same for gel humidification so I hope these work. Love your videos… Mike from NJ
So here’s a question. I’ve been stewing on this since I saw you mention them before. So here’s the question. I have a converted 1.2 cu/ft cooler. You mentioned adding or removing beads to keep RH where you want it. Does the amount of beads impact the RH more so than needing a larger amount for the size of humidor? Maybe I’m thinking of it too much on the Boveda system? Thanks guys!
I have a Schmeke 250ct fridge humidor. Its been plugged in for over 2 months. Took a few weeks to get to 68. Thay last for about 2 weeks then tanked to 55. I have the reservoir filled with distilled water and the sponge it came with. I have appx 50 sticks in there. There feeling hard n dry. Any idea what i can do to raise humidity? Was thinking about 2 65% bovedas in there
Just recently my RH has been high have a 150 count needone humidor, built in hygrometer says 62% my Govee says 75.5 I removed some boveda packs to try and drop RH, it did come down to the 75.6 I have roughly over 100 cigars
Ever since your guys' video on water beads, that how I've maintained my humidor. I use a dad more than a shot glass, I have a glass candle stick holder, but it does pretty good; fluctuates between 67% and 70%. Oh, and the water beads I got were from Michael's and are supposedly for plants...but like you said, same thing. But yeah, works great! And that's without the glycol mixture, just straight water. Incidentally, how important is it that I use distilled water? Right now it's just tap water in the beads.
Best to use distilled water. Tap water has minerals and bacterias and chemicals all of which can impart flavors into your cigars. Distilled water is basically void of any of those and provides the least impact on your cigars.
I've been struggling with Boveda packs and all sorts for about 2 months and never got the humidity over 65%, TRY THESE ORBEES IN distilled water! cheap and works amazing!!!
Just curious I have an oasis humidifier in my 100 count box. As you know it has a fan. If I hollowed it out and placed the beads in the oasis just wondering how many beads would be needed. Don't need to count them out but rough idea would be helpful. Or do you think this is a bad idea?
My coolerdore cannot keep a good humidity. 78% it reached and my costarican cigars went moldy....I turned it down. To 60% and humidity went down but this am ba k to 71%. Not sure what to do
the only thing off the top of my head is amount of cigars in the coolerdore with out knowing how full it is if they are not full to about 50% capacity that can cause humidity to get a little high. whats the source of humidification? water beads just water. boveda pillows?
@zealcigars196 I use a humicare and I never thought about how full humidor is. My stock is getting low I guess it's time for a trip to cigar shop...Thanks for response
I have a 25-30 count desk cigar humidor with about 15 cigars in it with a 72% boveda pack in there with them but my humidity wont go past 57% how can i fix this granted ive only had this set up for about 5 - 10 hours should i be worried if so please help I do not want to be worried about my cigar's
look at seasoning the humidor if its wooden. use distilled water and just use a sponge or rag and get the inside damp leave cigars out for about 24 hours put them in see if it settles might have to repeat twice also i would recommend adding a digital humidity read out if your is not already
My tupperdore and boveda aren't working...my cigars are hard as rocks...do I need new Tupperware...boveda is 2 weeks old and Tupperware is a year old...any help will help..
I have one of those small acrylic Tupperware containers, with a bovida pack inside of it And I keep about a weeks worth of sticks in it, so that I don't have to keep opening my regular humidor up, just to grab one stick. Kinda like opening the fridg door and standing there looking for something for 10 minutes. And hearing you father (in your mind) yelling at you to close the damn door, because your costing him money. Than thinking to yourself.....I make a hella of a lot more than you did, dad !! It's a vicious cycle...LOL Question: When will you be getting more orders of the PDR Dark roast cigars in ? Makes me mad as hell that you talk about them in the show and then your ....OUT OF STOCK on them. THE HELL !!! p.s. Great video.
I just got my wooden humidor today and i have been using an acrylic one with bovedas and have had zero issues

Do u use Beads or Solution/Water and Beads?
@@bradleyreith I have tried both in my refrigerated units, and still had to add water at some point.

so i finally tried the water beads and I am in shock how well it works.
So here’s a question.

70 is a little high from my experience. 65 isn’t considered “dry” in my opinion.
Kickass my dudes

Please give info on those multi colored beads
I have the Newair 840 count Coolidor. I believe you have the same. How many beads do you use?

65 percent is fine

Has anyone done used this with heartfelt beads in the tube ? Just wondering if the tube will crack
65% all the way

I use a larger acrilic set up I use Boveda they Las a long time and getting a four pack off of Amazon once a year is that bad.
Nope that’s damn good
I have been wondering what happened to the COCOA CHEMIST???

Cigar oasis that is all you need to know about humidification for your cigars
To much work. Boveda is easier and you don't have to be guessing around..
Maybe, but can get kinda expensive for folks.
My tupperdore and boveda aren't working...my cigars are hard as rocks...do I need new Tupperware...boveda is 2 weeks old and Tupperware is a year old...any help will help..
@@richluvsellie1either need more boveda packs or your Tupperware isn't sealing right.

Order beads to try them...they are hard to control in tupperdore...I have a decent sized box and one bead was at 97% ...I'll stick to boveda pack..
Dad rides a Harley and he has panty hose
