    The newair I got in the manual told me to not wipe the shelves and let it sit in there till the humidity comes to what you want and then add cigars.

    I have this exact setup. I bought a NeedOne 48L 300 capacity about 2 months ago. I have the Govee wireless bluetooth hygrometer and I use the beads and this is the best setup I have ever had. It is always perfect.

      What humidity does the water beads keep it at? I typically like my humidors a little lower around 67ish

    • @enjoylife7030
      @enjoylife7030 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dragenisms the beads I use hold around 70. I leave them alone for about 2 weeks until the humidity drops to about 69, then I just spray them lightly with a spray bottle and they go back to about 71 and hold for another couple weeks before I need to spray them again.

    I have a Nuair 1500 and an 840. They have their own humidification system where you only add distilled water. Overall they are ok coolidoors. However they are fairly loud when the humidification system kicks on and is running. Also they don’t seem to uniformly provide the same amount of humidification with the mid to lower shelves show a reading of 72% and the upper shelf shoving a reading of 62%.

    Fallout is one of those ZHBs I like to always have on hand.
    I have a couple coolidors, just basic thermoelectric 12 bottle wine cooler with Bovedas and got some cedar drawers from audew some time ago.
    When I seasoned them I did it pretty close to how you recommended... wiped the drawers/shelves down, waited a couple days made sure it was stable and filled them up. I really only plug them in during the summer to keep them cool when it gets hot here because I don't have A/C

    Great video again guys.
    One issue I found is the plastic smell in the new unit. After wiping down with water/baking soda mix and leaving for 48 hrs. I would then clean out and pack the unit with rolled up newspaper for another 24hrs . This worked brilliantly 👍

    If you use 84 percent Boveda packs to season opposed to wiping down the wood, it will not over humidify and you won’t have any swelling. To me, it’s the easiest method to season.

    If yours has a compressor, before you plug it in and put power to it, let the coolidor sit upright for 48hrs to be safe. It might have been sitting on your door step in the upright position but during shipping it couldve been upside-down or laid on its side.
    Let the coolidor sit open for at least 24hrs before you do anything to let that plastic smell air out.
    These aren't a must but I've been highly suggested to do these steps. I dont mind taking an unnecessary "safe" step in order to make sure my collection and investment has the close to perfect environment as possible

      I live in Houston and the only factor there is how cool do you keep your house and how cold does it get inside your house in the winter? I personally know that my home will be cooler than 70 during the winter. The real challenge is keeping it at 70 during hot months. This is why I went with the cooladore

    Seasoning the cedar shelves does not mean soaking the cedar. Not seasoning will draw moisture from the cigars into the cedar. Best to season, using damp cotton swabs

  • @davidkellymitchell4747
    @davidkellymitchell4747 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    All that's not necessary. Get a solid oak humidor and it requires little humidity to maintain 68 to 72. Throw some cedar chips in it if you got to have cedar aroma. I spent a fortune experimenting. Plywood/ veneer is the worst even if it's lined with cedar.

    If your gonna buy a coolerdor i recommend not buying a needone, theres a good chance it will have a plastic smell that you can’t get rid of and instead of fixing it they only give you a 30% refund and leave you stuck with an expensive humidor that you can’t even use because it wrecks your cigars

  • @johnguerra593

  • @philipdeppen3189

    You guys say cedar like any cedar will work. Spanish cedar specifically is what you want to use which technically is not a cedar it’s in the mahogany family. Using red cedar or any actual cedar will turn your cigars bitter with way too much actual cedar taste and it doesn’t absorb and release humidity like Spanish cedar. Spanish cedar is also resistant to mold. Me I use acrylic humidors with Spanish wood chips and a boveda 62% humidity packs for perfect humidity and burn zero tunneling and when I squeezes my cigars there’s just a very slight crunch sound and definitely not dried out.

    • @kemdom
      @kemdom ปีที่แล้ว

      If the box is wooden, the porouseness of the wood will surely take away some of the humidity until it equalizes. My small El Presidente 23 with a good ~500grams of Boveda and a dish of water (no acryl balls) takes a good full day to reach the Bovedas' 69 percent if I put in a fresh box of 10 Plasencia Nesticos.
      Since many boxes are for cigars that I regularly smoke, I usually just re-organize the new cigars to the already humidified box inside the coolidor.
