  • A simple dish but very SARAPlicious - this is our Steamed Pompano With Soy Ginger Sauce Recipe.
    The only thing you need to cook here is the soy ginger sauce which will give flavor to this dish. I added more spring onions to give an extra taste. This is so easy to prepare, light, and very satisfying.

    Ingredients:
    * 1 whole pompano fish (approx 550g)
    * ginger slices and spring onions ( for stuffing and garnishing)
    * salt and ground black pepper (to season the fish with)
    * water (for steaming)
    * For the Soy Ginger Sauce - 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 tsp each of brown sugar/Shaoxing Wine (Chinese cooking wine)/cooking oil, 1-2 thumb-size ginger (julienned), spring onions
    Procedure:
    1. Score the pompano on both sides. Dry with a paper towel.
    2. Season with salt and ground black pepper.
    3. Stuff ginger slices and spring onions inside the fish.
    4. Prepare the platter with ginger slices and spring onions. Place the pompano on top.
    5. Steam for 20 minutes.
    6. While steaming, cook the soy mixture. Add ginger strips and spring onions. Simmer for a few minutes then turn off the heat.
    7. When the steamed fish is done, pour the soy ginger sauce on the fish. Garnish with more spring onions.
    8. Serve with steamed rice. Enjoy!
