Regarding Bheem not being Muslim: Komaram Bheem was a tribal who fought against the Nizams and disguised himself as a Muslim. He was on the run from the rich landlords as pretended to be a muslim to survive while being anti-British and anti-Nizams.

Today i watched RRR after your recommendation... Here are my 2 cents ... First of all both the hero character are based on real freedom fighters, they were Hindus hence character are also Hindu.. also please note they have shown Muslim family in good light through out the entire movie... The Muslim family treated Bheen just like their own child risking their own life... Also whenever Bollywood shows muslim character... Ppl start commenting we don't look like this.. Bollywood stereotype us.. Johns character in new york 2009 movie was also muslim... handsome, stylish.. but when bollywood shows muslim in good light no one cares to appreciate... Ohh n someone please remind them that the biggest stars of our country are muslims... Also I tried watching Dastan way back when you guys initially said that you will do hotbites on it... Oh my god it was unbearable... They have used each hindu holy name to their servant .. we Hindu have unlimited names but they decided to use the name of gods n goddesses for each Hindu character... I stopped watching it after a few episodes..it was a torcher... The story line of dastan(2010) is similar to Indian movie Pinjar (2003) just a vice versa.. i am watching pak dramas for more that decade now.. n I haven't seen Hindu characters in your dramas... There are more than 399000 Hindus in pak..but not a single character to show in these dramas... I wish you couldn't have brought this Hindu Muslim thing in such great movie.. 🙏

The biggest stars of Bollywood are Muslims because they started in 90's when bollywood wasn't earning in crores and the acting profession was looked down upon. SRK made Bollywood global and it started bringing in, money, investments and tourism . Now Indians are simply boycotting movies of Amir SR and Salman because they are Muslims. There's no other superstar other than akshay on the scene but still people are not watching movies of Khans. That is why bolly is going through crisis cuz commercial cinema lovers are not warming up to like average looker like Raj Kumar Rao, Ayushman, Varun, Tiiger, Nawaz, Isshan, Jhanvi, Alia, etc

There are Pakistani dramas on Hindu Characters. Watch Sita Bagree and Dhoop ki Diwar. There are a few Hindu actors also. One is Deepak Pervani- A famous designer. Everready Pictures and Plays is owned by Satish Anand. He's also a partner in HUM channel. Almost 30% mills and factories of Karachi are owned by Hindus.

Speaking of Real freedom fighters then you must know the truth. independence was given by the Hitler who broke the great Britain. India was on sale in 1945 because British ran out of money and soldiers to run India. The expected buyer was America. America refused to buy and then the empire went into liquidation in 1947. The only real warrior of India was Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan who defeated the British. This movie didn't mention him. Marathas and Sikhs joined the British and took bombs, guns , tanks, and telescopes from them to fight Tipu and other nations within and around South Asia. Sikhs and Marathas paved the way for the British so they can conquer India. Of course, later the British took the power from their paid servants. Tipu was a Pathan from Afghanistan and it showed. Indic people shouldn't be making movies full of lies against the British colonization. British did a lot for them in lieu of the service provided by indic. English schools , railways, water dams, bridges, factories, industries, parliament, cinemas, courts, hospitals, police, hospitals, airports army and RAW/ISI. None of the above things are available in Afghanistan that's why they are now called "backward" by the same Indic people who benefitted from the British colonization. After their death, conquering India and ruling them for over 190 years was a game for the British. A few here and their so called freedom fighters in India emerged after educated indian politicians ( trained in the British system) got the gist that Germany and Russia have given immense damage to Great Britian and its almost over for the queen. This is not bravado, it's awareness of the changing world. The real brave freedom fighters who fought with the British Russia and then the USA are none other than Afghans/Pashtuns/Pathans. Today, 20% of Afghanistan is in Pakistan and all thanks go to British servants Sikhs who attacked hazara and uzbek regions of Afghanistan with British given tanks, guns, bombs, telescopes . Even then Pashtuns within few years, got together and kicked Ranjeet Singh and his progenies back to punjab. Afghans don't have the means to make fake movies to show fake bravados. British colonization gave cinemas and movie studios to India.

I just said this is their story.. n no we didn't got freedom bcz of Hitler we got freedom bcz of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and many others who sacrificed their life. N no one watching SK, SRK movies bcz they need to evolve as per time.. they still can't b doing same stuff they were doing 25 years ago.. generation has changed..they need to change like Akshay and Ajay.. you can't judge the fish in the pond from standing outside the pond.... V r not insecure to treat Muslims differently... N those who gave work to them in 90 were Hindus right .. their were so many genocide still they got work and appreciated for their acting skills ...No one watch movies bcz they have Hindu or Muslim star... we watch it for entertainment.. we look at freedom fighters as humans not as he was hindu and he was muslim.. we have freedom bcz of all of them n we respect it... Also you might have read only 1 side of the story of tipu sultan... The damages caused by him to Hindustan were much worse than his heroism in front of the British.. muslim invaders destroyed our temples our heritage..our libraries.. Universities... Still we have more muslim in India than Pakistan itself...

@@poojaghavre1037 with all due respect, but who didn’t invade India back then and who didn’t destroy it in that process...as it happens with invasions and conquests... so to single them out is ignorant. Also guess what Muslims ruled half the world and obviously they invaded a lot of lands. It wasn’t personal to destroy temples specifically no matter how much modi insists, and ingrains via changing history books in schools. And it’s funny and naive to think this especially since it’s not like those next invaders the British preserved and protected your heritage and holy sites or values in any way. If anything, the Muslim could and always is swayed into the spirit of common brotherhood, unity and in India’s case undying patriotism.

It is also featured in top global publications like New Yorker, New York Times,USA today and many others by featuring in in top 10 movies to be watched globally. It is also first Indian and one of very few Foreign films to have been nominated to Hollywood Critics awards recently held in Los Angeles. RRR had nuances of Ramayan. Bheem couldn’t be a Muslim cause he basically played “Hanuman” a reincarnation of Bheem, which was also a character of Mahabharata. So understanding the nuances deeply to truly understand why’s of the storyline. :)
P.s: The characters are inspired by Alluri Sitaram Raju and Komarum Bheem, but the storyline has nuances of Ramayan. There's a difference between the two.

Dear Amna and Hassan, I watch all your videos. My daughter, who does not even watch many Pakistani dramas, loves watching your reviews with me. We enjoy your conversations immensely. Your commentary and taste are so close to ours. I have watched many dramas only based on your recommendations. I am always impressed with your knowledge of the topics you cover. We have not watched RRR but your review is so convincing that we plan on watching it over this weekend. Regarding your comment about representation of Hindus in Pakistani dramas and movies, I respectfully disagree with you. I am a Hindu, born and raised in Pakistan, have been living in Miami for a long time. I watch Pakistan dramas like most overseas Pakistanis. Aside from Dastan- I have yet to find a good representation of Hindus in our Pakistani dramas. I loved Sinfe Ahan and was dying to see one Hindu character in the class of LCs; all the girls were from different parts of Pakistan and belonged to different backgrounds. I don’t know much about population stats in Pakistan as such, but I certainly am aware there are many Hindus in Pakistan. We felt the same pride and aspiration as most others -watching that drama; my daughter was inspired to see Pakistani girls in army. Would have loved for her to have a sense of belonging at closer level by seeing a Hindu girl included in the mix of all others. I had goose bumps when I saw opening scene of Sange maa with Guru Baani in Nankana Sahib. Mastana character was a great effort and attempt. I think it is time we represent ALL people/religions in Pakistan. By the way of this comment, I would like you to encourage drama makers to consider that in the future dramas. We are all fabric of Pakistan and would like to see us be represented in our dramas and films. I have been meaning to request this through you for a very long time and today your commentary served a perfect segue. I hope you will convey this message on behalf all Pakistani Hindus. We do feel left out. Thank you for your content, love all your new channels too 🙂 Stay Blessed!! Love & Om Radha Gopalani

I can tell you why there was only a little representation of Muslims … the ntr character komaram Bheem actually did not fight against the British but the Nizam rule in Hyderabad . And both the characters also represented two states AP and Telangana which recently got separated .. so this was a way to say we are still brothers . Komaram Bheem was a Telangana hero and Alluri was from Vizag in Ap. So I think they were already going for too much and could not actually address that part of history .. I’m pretty sure there were a lot of Indian Muslims also fighting against the Nizams in Hyderabad hence you see Bheem going as Akhtar in the first half of the movie ..
I’ve been a huge fan of Rajamouli right from his initial days and let me tell you something I’ve observed … the man oozes positivity .. even when he deals with the most complex emotion called anger he reins in the reaction to channel it in the right way . Yes there is maar kaat bloodshed but what comes out of it is always a beautiful message or a humanist approach to problem solving at the end of the day .He is a self proclaimed atheist as well …but never has he denigrated any religion . That’s all . Hope I’ve given you some context .

Adding on to the point discussed at the end I think it would be super interesting to see a Pakistani period drama something like pride and prejudice but made in Pakistan. I think it would be better to experiment rather than sticking to the identity of human relationship and drama that we see in our daily serials

It is not just human emotion, not just the scale of production, it is also the way the story is weaved... by the time you get to see Ram's backstory, you are dying of anticipation, you want to know that is the deal with this person who is so loyal to his colonial masters. His unquestioning subservience doesn't make any sense...
And I have not seen Sholay and Jay Veeru Dosti, but I think the friendship is this movie is exceptional because in a lot of sequences, both men are practically functioning as one body, its as if they are in perfect sync, like the breaking out of jail sequence.

Thanks for reviewing RRR Amna and Hassan. I am surprised when Amna and Hassan said Naatu Naatu and I am watching your program from long time and surprised that you reviewed Telugu blockbuster spectacle RRR. Telugu Film industry also known as Tollywood has overtaken Bollywood to become the biggest film industry in India since last 2 years in revenue and even in this year it is leading all industries in India. Also Telugu industry is the first industry in the history of Indian cinema to have overtaken Bollywood in revenue and producing big scale spectacle movies like Baahubali franchise and upcoming pushpa movie franchise . SS Rajamouli is presently the biggest film director in India by commercial success with 100 percent success rate, Also Ram Charan and Jr NTR are as big as any Bollywood top actors. They are also incredible dancers. Check out their songs on TH-cam.

Hassan`s comment on muslim representation seems fair in lay terms. But its not Historically accurate. We need to understand that pre-partition India also had only about 25% muslims. Its not a lot more than it is now in India. So even in pre- partition India, you would ideally have extra ordinarily large non-muslim presence in any event. That becomes even larger in South India because in South India Muslims are fewer and that too only concentrated in few areas.
But I do agree that last song could have a muslim leader represented.

not after the movie released but before it released RRR is also the working title stands for rajamouli, ramcharan, jrntr.
And you might think jrntr as just a good actor....but he is a single take actor and dancer and also a singer and tv host.........he almost does his shots in single take without reharsel.
Ramcharan is also a good actor but maturity in his acting is also started visible from a couple of movies only.

I watched RRR after seeing this. It’s my first Telgu film, I was hooked. It reminded me of the 80s Bollywood film where the hero will be larger than life. Despite the unbelievable animal and motorbike scenes I loved the action, chemistry, screenplay, cinematography and dancing. The horse and bike scenes gave me Sholapur vibes.
Bollywood has lost its identity, too much politics, they don’t make films you can watch with family. Korean, Turkish and Pakistani series are amazing to watch because they are true to their identity. Thank you for introducing me to Telgu cinema.

British colonization did wonders for Indic people. So much money is being made by producing movies that are too far away from the reality. On the other hand the real fighters who fought Alexander, British, Russia and America throughout without accepting defeat aka Pashtuns/Pathans/Afghans have no means to produce movies. Their regions were never under colonization and that's why they missed out on British built schools, Cinemas, colleges, railways, factories, bridges, dams, agricultural and irrigation system, hospitals, industries, parliament, judiciary, police and ARMY /ISI/RAW. Now the same brave people with light skin colored eyes are called backward by the enslaved dark skinned ethnicities of South Asia. The enslaved people are producing movies full of lies and making money. This kind of phenomenon is not known to the world which sees light skin people as superior. I guess its all about British and American colonization and technology, education given by them. Indic people shouldn't hate British colonization, I think. Note: Over 70% of Pakistan was also never fully colonized and was mostly a princely states and Tribal belt.
The truth is the British conquered most of the south Asia through funding and supporting different south Asian nations and pitting them against each other..Sikhs and Marathas are two examples of such nations who took bombs, guns, tanks, maps from the British to fight and conquer nations with swords and stones.
After British took over, no one fought for independence for over 170 years. A couple of protests started after world wars when Indian politicians ( trained by the British system) got the gist that Germany and Russia have given huge financial and political damages to the Great Britain. After WW II, British India finally collapsed because the British ran out of money to run it, The Empire was "on sale" in 1945, the expected owner was America but Americans refused to buy it. Then the British empire went into liquidation, rather than acquiring a new owner and we called it independence after freedom fights and sacrifices.
