    Dip those in bbq sauce and put them back on for a couple mins to carmelize. What I love tho, is on the half shell. Drain the liquor, add a tab of butter and hit it with garlic and Parmesan. You may need to improvise the “half shell” tho. :)

      thanks for the pro tips! I will have to try that. I've thought of just retaining 18 deep shells from when i buy them once or twice a year so I can have half shells.

    ALL oysters from Washington are good, but Willapa Bay oysters (Pacific) for the win with Oysterville oysters (also pacific) coming in a close second.

      that's awesome-- thank you Klickitat! For me it's Hood Canal FTW, but Willapa is a famous oyster growing area for a reason!

    Don't get me wrong, I totally understand why we have to shuck um on the beach. But my favorite way is on the bbq with a little garlic butter! In the shell! Oh so good in the shell. I get you can buy them but uh.😢 campfires even better.

    • @TheKlickitat
      @TheKlickitat 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Not quite the same but you can cook them on a bbq in custard dishes if you have to leave the shells. I have thought about keeping some shells from a purchased batch just for cooking shucked oysters. I am with you though, oysters on the bbq with butter and garlic.

      You've got summer dreaming now! And totally here you. I always buy some in-shell once or twice a year just to huck em on the grill.

      Grilled oysters in the shell are the best, the way they steam in their own brine makes them so delicious.

    Hey blake have you ever gotten sick from eating raw oysters. A friend of mine did and they were miserable

      @WAFishQuest  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have not. I have heard Vibrio is like the absolute worst form of food poisoning. I stop slurping after April personally, and don't like to slurp them if I don't know the chain of custody. (they should always be on ice IMO if taken off the beach).

    I’m not a big bacon fan myself. If anyone wants to change my mind, please send over some free bacon and I’ll ensure I eat them em, I mean, force myself to try them. Great episode!

    As a Native Louisianian that grew up on Cajun and Creole, oysters were a mainstay for us. However, after being a temporary resident of Western WA state, I can definitely say , PNW oysters are amazing! My Southern friends would get mad and state otherwise about how possibly could PNW oysters be better than Gulf oysters fed from the Mississippi river. Cold rich waters are the difference friends! People stating gulf oysters are better Just haven’t tried PNW oysters. I’ll be doing another smoked oyster video on my Pellet smoker and definitely some oyster stew. Thanks for the Video bro, it makes me miss the pnw, except for the effing rain!

    Excellent! I will try this next time. Our first good tide to harvest was about 10 days ago. I grab small ones since I'm the only one at home who likes them. Limit is 12 here.

    • @WAFishQuest
      @WAFishQuest  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Nice Mike! Sounds like maybe you don't have to shuck em on the beach tho? I mayyyy take that trade.

    • @HobbiesHobo
      @HobbiesHobo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WAFishQuest We can shuck them on the beach or at home, they do encourage us to return the shells to the beach but we are not required to do so. I usually just put the oysters on the BBQ and let the heat open them up. Shucking can be very difficult if you don't do it all the time. My usual warning to new harvesters is "The bigger & older the oysters, the harder they are to open". haha. I hope you, your family & friends have a great summer Blake! Mike.

    Nice haul. Hama Hama Oyster saloon is a good place to try different varieties of oysters. I went there last week. Recipe looks good. Can't go wrong with any bacon recipe. Gonna have to go harvest my own one day. 👍

    Hood canal oysters 100% hit different, in a good way. I admire your will power I would have wacked all 18 right there on barnacle butt rock. Awesome sonics jacket too, classic! 🤙🤙🤙
