Andrew - Almost sounds like a Dosatron endorsement! :) I've had one for twenty years, using it exactly the way you do. It was a tough decision for me then due to its cost, but I've never regretted it. Pre-bonsai are on drip emitters, so they're particularly easy to manage. Also, your explanation about why bonsai need more fertilizer than their wild counterparts due to greater ramification is spot on! Nice job!
Perfect timing..was just starting to look for a dosatron and wondering how it worked..so amagine my surprise when u yotube This video..must of read my mind...🤣thanks for that timely explanation..ps..the mirracle grow that u use is it a 10.10.10..as u cant find that in uk..👍
Great info, makes the use of a dosatron a bit more perceivable in my own garden. I think there are more affordable models of this style of Injector as well!! How is your water to start, I know mine is pretty basic, and has a high EC before I put anything in. This has caused burn for me before I think, and is why I hesitate to fertilize all that often. Fertilizers also change the PH coming out as well, and can go up or down depending on the product, so learning some of your specifics would be helpful! Anyway, as always, thank you for your knowledge, generosity of time, and great content! BEST BONSAI TH-cam PAGE!
@@rakuyobonsai yeah that is great water to start with and I’m sure your plants love it, my TDS rating from the tap is over 20 times higher, so I am starting to consider an RO set up for when my rain barrel can’t keep up
Hello. Great videos, thank you. Can I please ask, which Dosatron model are you using? Having looked on UK distributors websites the range is vast. Thank you.
I use a TDS meter/EC meter to make a control batch and test the output with the dosatron. Also when you buy a dosatron they tell you how to set it for the mixing measurements! amzn.to/3SHikiD
Is that a Hakuro Nashiki willow to your right? I just found a couple at my local nursery this summer and they are a lot of fun to work with and have beautiful colors.
How high is your EC value when irrigating with the fertilizer and do you calculate the existing salt content of the tap water out of the total salt content? Example: You water with an EC value of 1000 mS, but your tap water already has an EC value of 300 mS, do you then add another 700 mS of liquid fertilizer or do you not add the natural salt content of the water so that you end up with 1300 mS in the total solution that reaches the plant? Thank you.
I'm not sure, I only really use the EC measurement to test my control (the fertilizer mixed with tap water at the recommended dosage) and use that to figure out my microdosing measurement (1/20th that EC measurement)

Such a great video and explanation! Would LOVE for you to do a garden tour video!
Planning on that this winter when all the leaves are gone!
Awesome information, Andrew. Thank you a ton.
My pleasure! Glad it is helpful!
Really helpful information, thanks for sharing Andrew.

Wow, that's amazing product sustainability! Thanks for sharing
great follow up to earlier fert vid, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Can you make video with explanation of sprinklers that you are using. Great video, tnx for sharing knowledge
No sprinklers, everything at RAKUYO is watered by hand with a hose or a water can
That’s pretty slick, good sir.
It's a very useful tool!

Glad it was helpful, miracle gro here is 24-8-16, and what comes out my dosatron is about 1.2-.4.-.8

Hello. Great videos, thank you. Can I please ask, which Dosatron model are you using? Having looked on UK distributors websites the range is vast. Thank you.
It along with everything else I use is on my website: www.rakuyobonsai.com/products
Can you advise on the output ppm/EC and your starting values as well? Thank you for sharing!!!!
The TDS of my water out of the tap is 30ppm
How do you know what ratio to mix the concentrate solution in the bucket?
I use a TDS meter/EC meter to make a control batch and test the output with the dosatron. Also when you buy a dosatron they tell you how to set it for the mixing measurements! amzn.to/3SHikiD
It would be good if you could also show how you adjust and set the dosatron.
I set mine to 1:240

Yes, it is!
Im curious to know your fungicide/pesticide schedule.
I'll have to do a future video about that
@rakuyobonsai please do.
Dumb question but do you spray your fert on foliage or is it a root only fert?
The focus is the roots, but when we overhead water on hot days it is an added benefit!
I use something very similar but at 1/10th the cost. I use a Peristaltic Pump Metering Pump Smart Watering Device
Nice, how's it work and how long have you been using it?
Do you use this for water Ph level and fertilizer or just fertilizer?
Just fertilizer, I don't adjust for pH
