I'm still a CP Kid at heart. I will never feel or grow old. I still listen to my favourite 80s music and in this era, techno music is my jam! I noticed some familiar faces in the video. Wishing all the CP Kids the best of life 💪
One of the Feedback anchors in this clip is my late sister, Ratna Lachman, whom I remember enjoyed interviewing these kids and airing their viewpoints.
I remembered viswa sadasivan anchoring later on for talking point.....He always ends it coolly.... " I am viswa sadasivan and this has been a talking point"... Enjoyed watching feedback too👍👍👍
The last shot is epic. Centrepoint used to ‘dress up’ for Christmas and I remember there was an annual competition for the best decorated shopping mall in Orchard Road. The malls spent more back then in decoration during Christmas and they look much better than now. The 80s and early 90s were wonderful times. People were more relaxed and happy back then.
It's part and parcel of growing up. And now they are daddy and mommy. My time was even earlier. The peninsula capitol theater hippie's back in the 70s. Really miss those days
Those were the days with no internet, no smartphone and not even neighborhood malls. Very limited place and nothing much to do so youths just meet up in Orchard. Even my teenage time in 2005 a lot of youths were hanging out in Far East Plaza or Peninsula. Many kind of style. The rocker/scene, indie kids, punk, skinhead, rudeboys or just plain bengs/mats. I even remember came across expat girls dressed in goth dress. But by the time 2008 I realized the music scene kids were pretty much gone. Maybe we just grew up from that youth phase and moved on. I really miss those days where you could see random kids dressing up
I was an expat very recently, from 2017 to 2021. Lived my latest teen years there and there are goth expat girls everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE. The expat party scene is very much alive. Places like Holland Village and around the Clarq and Boatq area.
OMG! I remember those days especially just behind Centrepoint was where many gangs hung out at Cuppage Center. That place was so notorious. Sigh! How times had passed.
Yes FIRE disco. I remember there was this thing that will come down in the middle of the dance floor and they used to play Moni Moni by Billy Idol right?
I miss 1980s Singapore. There are too many foreigners here now. Too many foreign students too. No internet and no TikTok and yet these kids were cool and creative.
0:10 last time I always told myself one day I will try to figure out how the bus fare of this bus service works. I never really took it as I don't know it's routes and I don't know it's fare system. Looks like it is gone now.
Wah that's cool, It's like before far east and takashimaya kids (which I was a part of in the 90s) There were the centre point kids Just hanging out because home is boring, and to make friends. Much is lost today
Ah I see! okay! Cos I'm on a search for CP Kids that are still around! Do you happen to still be in contact with anyone who used to be a CP kid? :D @@samtan9613
when is the short film be release, I'm looking forward to see it as it brings wonderful memories especially the documentary feedback during that time, wish i could see the full documentary and at the same time see myself there….. :)
I saw Roger Peng , Gabriel Pereira, Keegan Siow , one of the “chick” if I could remember should be candy or jasmine whom work as a part timer at basement Cassettes shop named “Supreme music” beside Macdonald… unfortunately Roger Peng was killed 1997 at Holland Amsterdam .

So sorry to learn that your sister is no longer with us. It was a very interesting time for Singapore.

Ur so damn right. I just realised it myself.
Shows like Phua Chu Kang and Under One Roof started to influence the way the people talk
Totally agree
@Random4926 Singapore Maybe PCK more. I know one earlier drama that still speaks good English, Growing Up.
I wanted to say the exact thing .... Apparently our accent got stronger as time went by.

There was this narrow lane behind capitol building with hawker stalls..

i dress in a greaser style, and sometimes I hangout in centrepoint just to get the feel of our predecessors 40 years ago.

Remy Azhary Yosef , I used to jam at the jazz pub called Saxophone! I miss those days and Singapore in the 80s!
Hi! Do you happen to be one of the CP kids last time too? :)
And there is this big food court hidden in cuppage centre. You need to go through a secluded bridge to get from Centrepoint to cuppage centre
@@SuccessforLifester for the famous beef noodle?

I wonder where they are now. In good careers, health and family I hope🙂
Thank you for the memories!
Tea dance then night disc at FIRE DISCO! Lunch at Centrepoint McDonald's in between. Those were the days!!!
Yes FIRE disco. I remember there was this thing that will come down in the middle of the dance floor and they used to play Moni Moni by Billy Idol right?
2nd Chance fashion outlet in Tanjong Katong was pretty popular back then to get the shirts which they tucked out 'rebelliously'
dont forget it was a time of video game arcades..
many youths hangout in arcades
Can imagine how conservative the generation before this Centerpoint kids was. Just hanging out together = “Doing bad things”? 😅
"Thanks" to screentime and youtube... nowadays children don't even want to go out... they are just glued to the screen...
I miss 1980s Singapore. There are too many foreigners here now. Too many foreign students too. No internet and no TikTok and yet these kids were cool and creative.
We missed the good old days.

Why don't you find everyone in the video and do a reunion episode of sorts.
Some of these teenagers sounded so eloquent, sincere and intelligent.
I'm surprised the standards of the time still labelled them as "punks".
most of them should be in their 50s by now
Spot on😁
early n mid 40s too.
Centrepoint's kids, how times fly!
From Far East kid 1981 to CP kid 1983 to 1986 & roller skates kiddo to 1988 were some sweet memories I had even till this day. 🤣
those were the days.
Let's listen to Nu Shooz - I can't wait
Wah that's cool, It's like before far east and takashimaya kids (which I was a part of in the 90s)

Just hanging out because home is boring, and to make friends. Much is lost today

I wasn’t even born yet. Was kimono alike dress part of the 80s trend in Sg? I saw some girls wearing it.
Well, I am an 80s/90s kid so yup, broad dressing fashion like jackets with shoulder pads and such were all the rage back then!
Those were following the Checkers trend. Check out Checkers, Japanese pop group.
Rare footage but their speeches do not match when you lip read.
2:00 Matrep
Did I just see Chua En Lai being interviewed? :P
something the noose might do
Wa Cool!
their hairstyles do not differ from what kids in california were doing with their hair in the 80s.
Haha wow the effort they took dressing up
STOP children crossing 😂
