Great reenactment Josh. Really felt the rush of watching the warrior without being detected. Really enjoy all your video productions. God bless you.

Very cool video!! I could almost feel the tension of the test of nerves in the encounter!! Gave me an idea, would be a great event idea of sort of a glorified E+E course at an event, kind of like a grown up game of hide and seek!! Would be fun!!

Finally getting around to watching this one. Wish I had seen it earlier but I was very busy six months back. I enjoyed your scout and the way you filmed it. I love it when you include the interesting things you notice in nature and pass them along to us. Covering up the broken branch the way you did was excellent to hide the freshness. Among the many things I have learned over my many years in the woods, is that I shouldn't hyper focus on one thing. We tend to watch the one moving deer, bird, squirrel, or a person intently and forget to look around to see what else is moving or has stopped to watch us. I saw two or three guys walking in the woods while I was hunting. I am still not sure what they are doing but they were laughing and conversing and I did not want to scare/surprise them and so did not speak out. I was less than 30 yards away, with an orange vest over top my 18th Century clothing and they walked by and never saw me. After they went by I headed in the direction they had come and away from them. Another time I was with the landowner's dog and was watching a tiny buck chase a doe right in front of me for several minutes. When Blackie barked the woods exploded in a fan of deer which I had not seen or heard in the brush, though in the case I was looking carefully because they were not just in one spot. The other thing I do when I hide behind a tree, I keep my rifle upright or straight down so that the barrel does not stick out and move around while I am observing things happening. After I stood up from sitting for a long period of time,I had a fox walk by at my feet. He did not know I was there and I could have kicked him into the creek. I love being in the woods with my flintlock. Currently catching up on my many to watch videos while designing, cutting out, and sewing a leather shot pouch for #2 Bismuth. Waterfowl season is just around the corner. Be safe! Thanks for filming and sharing these times.

Enjoyed your Platte River trip, by the way. Would love to do more of these kinds of activities. Need a dugout for a Susquehanna River or for the upper Potomac River trip to hunt and fish in the fall in Maryland. By the way, have you seen the video on Winter Trekking Gear by the Coalition of Historical Trekkers? This has some good and functional ideas. Don't think it right to put another link in a comment but that description will bring it up with a search. You have been out in the snow and cold so being warm is critical when camping and being prepared is essential. So glad I am not the only one who needs extra blankets.

As a resident of SW PA myself, I can say that there are many similarities between then and now. The deer hunting is great, and it is still danger from the natives in some places. Better carry a firearm.

We're dangerous? Sorry, but which one of us wiped out or displaced 80 million of the other?
