You're lucky. I currently only have a ShopVac brand vacuum and I had to hunt and adapt various fittings to get it to connect to my various sanders, Domino, Festool 1/2 sheet sander, Dewalt Track Saw, biscuit jointer, Hitachi chop saw, etc. I think only one of my random orbit sanders fit without any adapters. Semi-recently I discovered the Rockler hose kit that has fittings (that look similar to the Festool ends) that fit many of my hand tools. Unfortunately that product didn't exist years ago when it could have saved me a lot of time. Nice video.

Ron, for your Bosch Belt Sander, try the setup I have below for my Makita 9903 belt sander to my Festool dust extractor. The connection is solid and the Festool hose does not come loose during routine use.
I attached a Bosch VAC002 Airsweep Vacuum Hose Adapter to the Makita dust port. Then I cut off the smallest section of a Fein 921072K13 Step Adapter (discontinued) and insert into the Bosch adapter. Finally, I insert the Festool hose into the Fein adapter.
The Fein 921072K13 Step Adapter has been discontinued (still available on Amazon) and was replaced by the Fein 31345079010 Step Adapter. The specs are the same for both adapters, but I have not bought the new Fein adapter to try yet. If you try the new adapter and it works, please let me know.

I have a roughly 25 year old 4x24 Makita belt sander that has more or less the same exhaust port as your Bosh, except it's on the other side of the sander and many years ago I bought a 3" plastic plumbing nipple, the kind with the barbs, and if I remember correctly I only needed to lightly sand down the barbs on the end I inserted into the sander and was able to use the smaller shop vac hose and some others I've accumulated. My Festool hose is just a tiny bit not snug enough and although it will work, sometimes it will pop off.

Hey Ron, How about a cyclone separator?? I am stuffing my filter bags in my smaller job site vac. and did some research on the Dust Deputy and the like. Ordered one I'll update you when I get to try it. A bit cumbersome I'm iure but they seem to capture most of the particulate. B

I have never used this tip, but I read that a bicycle innertube cut in lengths works wonders on those loose fitting connectors.

Ron, a couple layers of tape on that sander could build it up enough to form a friction fit for you hose.

You can heat up PVC pipe 40 mm and then shape it by pushing it onto the the fitting, or into the hose before it cools down.

Unlike you, Ron, I seem to have different sized ports on many, many tools. I have different brands, and some of them are not consistent among the different tools.
I've found the new Rockler small port hose kit with the extra optional adapters to work well for most, but not all my tools. This would be the best except the hose that comes with them is a dedicated hose that is too heavy for light tools and too springy to extend. Otherwise it would be a great solution. It's the thing I use most despite this, but I have to connect their hose with another regular hose using adapters.
Fein used to make a flexible rubber adapter that connected to most things, and this was the experience of most of those who tried it. Alas, they discontinued it. Go figure.

Ron, don't know if you've ever used the Porter cable hose that they sell for their Routers, Plate Joiner and Etc. But they hook Directly to my Bosch equipment. And the other end (larger end) connects to my Fein Turbo 2 vacuum. the older version of the one your showing.
thanks. hopes this helps You and All others out.

Ridgid 1-7/8" hoses don't fit any of my tools I own. Even other ridgid products.

Same. It drives me nuts. I've bought so many adapters. None work well.

Ron, you should check out the small port hose kit from Rockler. www.rockler.com/dust-right-universal-small-port-hose-kit

Lee Valley in Canada sells the orange hoses if anyone is looking for them. There about as good as the 36mm festool hoses at a much lower cost.

Anything is going to be cheaper than something labeled Festool LOL.

William Todd quality is not expensive! But yes some festool products are a little ridiculous!

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c 7 ปีที่แล้ว

Terry Jull They're all ridiculous, they do the same thing as tools for a fraction of the price costs but hey if you have a wallet full of cash to throw around by all means buy Festool I'd rather keep more of my money and get the same results so I will not buy Festool stuff great ideas but not worth the ridiculous prices.

William Todd they aren't the same quality. They are better. Putting down stuff because you can't afford it will not make it any lesser quality.
