In my experience sometimes it's easier just to take those big chunks of Transformers back to your shop take them apart on your workbench what I've done in the past. And in my opinion if you sat down and torn apart trying to cut it off I bet you it takes the same amount of time just to take it apart if not less but hey get it done whichever way possible

A agree. Also most businesses don’t want you working on their lot.
It’s always best to load on a trailer and work elsewhere,
Also sell the jacks on marketplace or Craigslist for $5 each. I sometime take a truckload to a local auction house. An extra $100 here and there.

Good seeing you guy's together again! I feel and understand when it comes to micro scrapping. I've in a month after removing copper, brass, wiring motor etc. Cleaning separation making then hundreds of dollars often as much as 1000-1800 in a month. I was then hooked on micro scrapping. Also l had the storage space. Happy Scrapping Guys!

Good to see ya'll workin' together again. Pulling those for later is the best idea you've had. For the rest of the copper in the cabinets just good pliers for the small lines, and bolt cutters for the larger lines would work. You gents be very careful around any projection bulbs. Early in college (way back when) I found out the hard way that if one of them pops on you a leather work glove won't stop the glass from a nasty cut that you don't want. Nice score all around. God Bless!

Well, you and Rick have a big job ahead of you. Please take your time and be careful not to hurt yourselves. You are gonna have to update us on the totals for sure! Those scissor jacks could be sellable though. I'd check on that possibility before you just junk them. Also, what happened to your cable lift you had for getting heavy stuff into the truck? Remember...work smarter, not harder. Great find and glad to see you and Rick back together. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both and your families. Thank you for the great videos.

The biggest copper score I ever heard of was the ASSeEMbLy Mall remodel in Somerville Mass. It was originally a Ford car plant. Then a First National Supermarket Warehouse. It was remodeled into a mall, part of it was demolished. Evidently huge copper cables were still in the building from the car,or truck, asembly line. Supposed to have been abou t$ 250 K in scrap value and that was many many years ago.

I’m not a full time scrapper. If I’m around town and find certain items I pick them up .#1 thing I will always pick up is bicycles. Got a partnership with the local neighborhood bike guy. I get them for him to scrap and use for parts. He’s retired and rebuilds bikes and he makes awesome money. Get a base rate per bike condition and if their what he calls specials I make good money.

Digital projectors were installed throughout the industry by 1997, so 20 years sounds about right. Digital projector companies paid the theaters for the 35mm equipment so it would not go back on the market, however they never removed the stuff leaving it to sit in the projection rooms for years.

My Dad would have gone insane for that much Copper!
You not only scrap metal but do a service buy hauling away the excess junk.
Those projector cabinets weighed a ton.
    As Grandpa said-
"Used the proper tool for the job"
    And it was cold outside.
    Not the best combination.
The battery power tools aren't strong enough to do the job.
I know you just used what you had, but you guys needed a generator and heavy duty tools.
A 6" grinder, a good saws all and slot of blades and discs.
I would have kept the jacks!
My hats off to you guys, that was a lot of work.

ok few hints and tips id like to suggest for next time make the job a lot easier by taking the van to the bulk of the heavy stuff instead of wearing yoursleves out dragging it, simply lift to van in one go. secondly it pays to have a VERY sharp chissel and a heavy sledge hammer to split the copper strands from transformers. one solid hit will cut clean through the coper flip it over and repeat, stripping all the copper and leaving the the no ferrous to go to shred while copper is CLEAN and also most valuable to me scrapped. and last but not least a really good pair of wire cutters goes a LONG way

You hold up those scissor lifts and toss them in as shred, to get paid .06c, maybe?
On my local "tools/craigslist" vintage (and those are not anywhere near cheap stamped metal, like ebay has) scissor jacks just like that are selling for $10 each. They are fully functional, vintage tools. US Made, and appear to be cast parts.

I just popped this video on, I sure hope you went to get Rick! That’s some great money! God blessed you today! You 2 are funny together!
I would micro scrap the whole insides, just cuz there’s more than just shred in them, some of it’s clean metal, which should be a higher price, aluminum, brass and more copper.

WOW! What a find. May the Lord give both of you the strength to finish the job, the knowledge of the easiest way to get it done and a shield some no other scrapers come in a take any of it.

I do bigger one's alone. 💪 I love the sheer number you have in whole units. I'd scrap down way more of the core. Wire brass copper steel ect. Gotta be some stainless too🔨🔧👀
