Five full minutes of pure fun and destruction sprinkled with terminator humor. I love how the 2 terminators tried multiple ways to rid the other off but the other party keeps coming back. This is by far the best scene of the entire movie.

This scene is badass but other than that it's too much of a T2 imitation. Good old terminator vs new and improved bad one. Keep getting away and eventually the T-800 kills the newer model and they both end up dying.
02:00 hitting that random squeeky toy was the funniest part of the movie. T3 was trying to be serious & funny at the same time lol, talk about identity crisis. But it's still one of the most entertaining movies.
The ending is the best part...with the bombs falling.

I like the little smirk that the T-X gives around 2:42 after knocking the T-850 off of the crane. Just shows how advanced the Terminators have become starting to show emotion and developing their own personalities. Same for it later crying liquid metal and screaming in fear before being terminated lol
Yeah in T2, the reprogrammed T800 stated that skynet puts restrictions on the CPU of all terminators. So that they don't go AWOL or go against Skynet when they learn too much.
Never caught the liquid metal tears, but the scream was obvious. Good catch.

Fun fact: The crane weighs a whopping 160 tons and was flipped twice during filming. As a result, it was totaled and had to be repaired ASAP within a week instead of being replaced, which would have cost an additional $1.5 million.

This movie will always hold a special place in my heart honestly. I first saw it when I was 11 or 12 and thought it was the most badass movie I ever watched. Even though I'm older and see some of its flaws, I still think it's an awesome movie.
Oh man I remember borrowing this on DVD from a friends dad, I recorded over my little sisters Dora the explorer DVD so I can have this forever lol this is definitely something special to me and while I do see the flaws like you said, I can't deny that this was one of the most hype terminator movies since it came out while I was alive lol my favorite scene besides this chase sequence is the hangar scene when Arnie is corrupted and attacking John and he said my favorite line in the movie, "Desire is irrelevant, I am, a machine!" I still think that's one of the dopest lines in this movie lol

Out of any of the newer films, this scene was by far the most ‘original’ terminator esk out of any of them. The pacing, sound design and overall feel was what made the originals so good.
There was that weird squeeky toy sound effect though.

They used a lot of animal and gun sounds for crashes and explosions in this film. Personally I found it distracting. Another example is the TX's flamethrower sounds like an Imp from Doom.
I think what makes the first half of this scene so good is the lack of music. It's just pure engines and chaos, which makes it quite impact. The early 2000's seemed to be a real gold mine for amazing vehicle chase sequences.
Most car chases scenes from 80's movie were also lack of background music. Nice touch by the way. Just the sound of engine revs, rubbing tires, and steels shrieking.
I just watched GENYSIS and this is WAY better though its too cartoonish. Genysis was like a videogame with a worse plot

@@JBaked Making the target into Daniela Ramos wasn't a bad decision, mind you. The decision to kill John Connor and copy and paste his legacy onto someone else, regardless of gender, was the mistake. John should've played a role in protecting Daniela at least, even if it meant him being played by someone else like Nick Stahl or Christian Bale or even Jason Clarke again. I'd have preferred any of those three over seeing John die so pathetically not 2min into the film.

When I was a kid, I always loved watching car chase scenes and this particular Terminator film was one of my favorites back then and still is. I'd watch this movie hundreds and hundreds of times just to watch the car chase scenes.

This one and the one from Matrix Reloaded were my favorite. I could never decide which one I liked better. This one is shorter but much more destructive while the one from Matrix is longer and has cool music

Underrated movie. It got shit on because it wasn't T2 but the pacing was excellent, the action was great and that ending took balls.
If we knew then what the Terminator franchise would become, Rise of the Machines would have been far more appreciated.

The problem was the bad humor. Scenes like "Talk to the hand" the star sunglasses, and getting his crotches grabbed undermine the general seriousness of the movie. However yes considering what has come since I have a bigger appreciation for this movie

Early 2000’s movies had some amazing chases with a lot of destruction. Bad boys 2, The Matrix Reloaded and this.
I love seeing how the T-X (T-2000) can work around mostly every single obstacle the T-800 throws at it in this film.

She played the role incredibly well, it would've been even better if they picked a different outfit for her... that always bugged me, especially the heels. Reduce the amount of comedic moments in this movie and it would be a few more stars for sure. The special FX actually look better than the new stuff - not overdone, and blended much better with the movie (because they were "hidden" since the technology was not so developed yet).

Not trying to be mean, but logic like this is the reason we don't get proper sequels but rehashes of the original two. Two of the best sequels (T2 and Aliens) have used little to no "gimmicks" from their originals (however memorable). They were great standalone films in their own right.

Even though T3 wasn't that good and no where near the perfection of T1 & T2, it's a modern day masterpiece compared to the rest of the Terminator films. Hell i even got the T3 game on OG Xbox back in the day. I need to rewatch this movie someday

@@Karifi They didn´t use CGI for this here,it was done with real vehicles and the building that gets trashed by the crane was real. Arnie actually agreed to get paid less for the movie,so that they could afford shooting this scene without CGI.
Credit to the director AND the editor! The scene has kinetic energy, momentum, laughs, it is easy to follow, and has a stunning climax (note the silence when the Champion crane flips over and then the "crash!!"

As a 13 year old, watching Kristanna Loken in all her glory was on another level. The number of times a newly teen boy can "research" is insane.
This has got to be one of the best chase scenes in cinematic history for some reason this movie gets a lot of negativity but I love it
Even though so many movies have explosions and devastation most use a 'collateral damage' mentality to try and justify the level of badassery going on. You can tell from the level of shit hitting the fan in this one it's either gonna be a monumental 'save the world' ending or 'we are totally screwed' ending!

I always assumed they simply ran out of time and/or money. Flipping a jillion tons in the middle of a real-life city with minimal property damage is doable, but it may have required more precision stunt engineering than they could have afforded. X3

Unpopular opinion: I like this better than the truck vs. bike scene in Terminator 2. That chase just went in a straight line; this one goes all over the place, and has more fun destruction.

Fun fact - they did similar thing in T2. In the nitrogen tanker chase scene, when they drive off ramp and the tanker crashes through water barrels they also added the sound of a lion roar there. Except back then they managed to make it work.

T3 and Salvation atleast did right the practical effect

Practical effects over CGI all the way! Truth is T3 and Salvation’s effects still hold up even decades later, because they are REAL.

T3 bounced back and forth between practical effects and CGI, but the problem is the practical stuff looked great while the CGI didn't. You can clearly see the disconnect between the two and it hurts the movie. That and the fact that Nick Stahl was a terrible John Connor. If they had polished the effects a little better and Edward Furlong had gotten his shit together to be in the film, I think it would've made a huge difference. Ultimately, T3's flaws weren't the story so much as how sloppy the movie was put together.
T4 sucks T5 was a greatest hits version of a Terminator film
This scene blew me away when I first saw it in theaters back then. It was the first Terminator movie I got to see properly in theaters, being only 4 years old when T2 came out. Good times.
Same. i seen all the Terminator movies and wasn't born yet when T2 came but i remember watching this film on big screen and just having my jaw dropped from this chase scene. It was so real and thrilling and just brutal. I've seen hundreds maybe thousands of films in my lifetime but this scene sticks to me

"Dark Fate" Chase scene: 95% CGI + 5% practical FX.
And honestly, it aged well. So is Salvation.

This one scene is better than the whole Dark Fates movie: action, camera work, music, editing, CGI only where it is really necessary. Maybe this film is far from parts 1 and 2, but this is definitely one of the best action films of the early 2000s.
This scene totally fed my "Appetite for Destruction".
Let's be clear, Kristanna Loken was very good and this scene is by far one of the best of the entire franchise.
I love that they had the truck go through an actual wall. While in Dark Fate, they CGI the entire scene with the truck(dozer?) going through the wall.
The magic of practical effects.
The final crash of the crane was CGI. The city was unwilling for them to crash a 160 ton crane into the street.
I don't care what people think about T3, this scene is unreal.

This is the one scene in T3 that felt on par with the previous Terminator movies.
It feels EPIC. And that's what defined T2 - it's hard to describe the sheer epic scale of that movie.
But this epicness served a purpose. Terminators have no regard for themselves and others and only their mission. When the T-1000 chased Connor in that tow truck in T2 what make it so scary was HOW it drove. It didn't matter how many cars or objects it hit. It didn't matter how much it destroyed its own vehicle. So the T-1000 FELT terrifying.
This scene captures that feeling. It's not mindless Michael Bay destruction. The TX doesn't care about anything other than its mission.
For a moment this movie felt like the originals. The movie as a whole isn't bad it's just not as epic. But this scene brought it close to that greatness.

The film empowers and captures all the feminine attributes in a cyborg killing machine. She's like a Ferrari and the t850 is like a tractor. walks heavy and solid, militant face and hydraulic like movements. perfect counterparts to each other. Just cool 2 see women characters not having 2 emulate men to be strong. I don't care 2 see the principal from Matilda arm wrestling t800s to figure out that she's tough.
It's becasue shes apart of the film. She isn't put in there because shes a 'waman'. Totally agree and it's a shame that they are degrading the appreciation of woman in action films now becasue of the political direction we are going in.
ONYX-WARRIOR16 of course she looks strong/dominant, she is like 5.11, 6.0. But Today they go with 5.3 chihuahua and want us to believe she is throng dominant female.
She was pretty much emotionless except for some moments (such as slamming Arnie into the firetruck where she grinned, likely from finally losing him). She was a worthy successor to the T-1000 for sure.
Love the cute way the TX pouts when she does not get her own way!

The budget was about 200 million pretty high for the early 2000's but it did bring in about 450 million so I would say it was a success

Before the Truck crashed through the wall 3:11 the crane was reversed. after coming through the wall the crane has been returned to home position like it had been before the chase started. allot of things were amiss in this movie but it was a great addition.
