The thing about mother encore is that they said before how they have some planned story additions, new areas, as well as many new features. Mother encore is not meant to be the same experience of the original, but rather it takes those elements and elevates them. I don’t think you should see this game as a remake of mother 1, but more so a reimagining, since it will and will not have aspects of the original game.
Actually, Pippi's Dungeon is amazing. Exploring dungeon so early, solving puzzles and navigating around toxic wastes. It feels much better than the typical sprint between key places where game developers just spawn a hoard of enemies and command you to attack them.
Those battle animations and transitions are absolutely insane... I think the Oddity Team and the new MOTHER 4 Project Team could really use these guys! lol I do love the fact that the character portraits have battle animations too. I was imagining something about that before I've seen this. I'm excited about these new MOTHER games! I played all 3. Now we're getting some next level remakes and Original series'. Great time to be an Indie fan! Begs the question. Will MOTHER 2 get a fan remake/glow-up? My Steam Deck is ready! I bet Itoi would love to play this remake!

A few things... The catacombs are likely not to level up Ninten a ton and prepare him for the Zoo since the difficulty has been rebalanced in comparison to Mother 1. I personally feel like it goes on for the perfect length. The amount of items dropped by enemies is much more than what was intended due to an RNG bug. This is something that will be fixed very soon. You didn't mention it, but a lot of people have picked up on the fact that enemies only do standard attacks for now and it seems impossible to miss. This is also a result of that RNG bug. Plenty of enemies were meant to have other more interesting attacks and this is perhaps why you felt that Starman Jr. went on for a bit too long. An update for the demo should be available sometime soon which will fix a bunch of things, so I'd recommend looking out for that when it gets posted. It looks like you were pretty lucky and didn't run into any bugs, but I promise you they were there.

I was waiting for the franklin badge to reflect the starman jr pk beam attack back at him which never happened. I'm actually surprised I didn't run into bugs either. I played this a long time exploring everything. Trying to bug things out but it never happened.

I agree with a lot of this (In fact, I played the demo because of your video) However, I do feel like some QoL things could be overboard (holding the buttons in menus for auto-select could lead to people, especially speed-runners accidentally picking the wrong attack) but if they added toggles for stuff like that I definitely think features like that would only add to the game. As it is though I’m very content with the state this game is in, I hope the final product retains this level of quality. Their channel does say most assets are completed though along with the script and they are just finishing some things while also programming those parts of the game that are already finished art-wise
I always liked the mother series but just this demo is already a top 5 game I’ve played this year. The animation in battle was the main part, I always wanted to see Ninten throw hands. The music goes hard too
if there was the thing i hope for this remake is that now it uses mother 2/3's battle system i hope there are 4 party members and i hope Teddy is unlocked a little earlier
In this version the poison doesn't take hp from your party members, instead, It makes the hp roll down faster. ( I don't know how to say that, I'm learning english lol
I know I dread seeing the graves of the flying men. Hopefully they allow them to be resurrected or sent back home injured. See their graves in earthbound zero is why I never used them in earthbound either. It broke my heart as a kid.

I finished Mother 1 recently for the first time and it was very exhausting. You have to invest a lot of time into grinding, many sections are so hard that you need much luck to get through them and often regions are designed to waste your time with dead ends which lead nowhere. But for the bad sides there also come a lot of good sides. You probably know that Mother 1 is a Nes game, but I can tell you that I never saw a Nes game that even comes close to the depth of Mother 1. This game truly changed my perception of Nes games as a whole and that is an experience that I would have missed alot if I never played the old version. The game also had alot of the charme I knew from Earthbound which was very suprising for an Nes Game. Another good thing is that the game isn´t as cryptic as other games of the time (like Metroid on the Nes). Very rarely I had to use guides to find the way ahead and that also suprised me alot. Summary: If you don´t have a big problem with the grindy and hard aspects of the game and not only want to experience this game in it´s purest form, but also want to experience a Nes game in a way you never did, then you should play Mother 1 on the Nes first before you play the remake. This Nes game surprised me in so many ways. I´ll never see Nes games in the same ways as I did before. Truly a work of art EDIT: I also think that I appreciate the remake and the world it depicts way more because I played the Nes game before playing it. Revisiting all of the places I´ve been to in their remade version is truly magical
The battle transition is the smoothest thing I've ever seen. This game looks so good.
If you're a high enough level then DASHING into enemies will knock them over like they did in MOTHER 3.

I played this last night. Really great demo. I was thrown off guard in a few instances, but such things made sense in the end as you've explained.

If you don't want to wait for the full thing to come out, play the 25th Anniversary Fan Patch. It improves the NES game a ton.
