Yes, especially if you are meant to identify and heal that trauma in this lifetime. It builds up to a level you can no longer overlook or ignore it. Therefore you are forced to seek healing. This is my journey.
If you have always done good things and lead a good life in the past, why would you suffer in this current life? At least to an extent to find out about occult and past life experiences. My D9 ascendant is also in the 8th house of my natal. For me, transformations were intense and balancing (although during it, it seemed hard). I say transformations because it is a series of transformations, especially if you have a Capricorn, Aquarius, Aries or Scorpio ascendant (Mars and Saturn)

If venus is in Aries in birth chart, goes to Scorpio in navamsha means venus is astama meaning venus has to face the transformation or endings of something
