    Welcome back to Toy Federation, where the world of toys comes to life! In this episode, we've got a rollercoaster of trades that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Strap in, toy enthusiasts!
    🤖 Transformers Troubles: A Trade Dilemma
    A collector walks into Toy Federation with a bin of Transformers goodness, ready to strike a deal with our expert toy appraiser, Ryan. However, there's a twist-some of the Transformers, like Tidal Wave and Optimus Prime, are missing crucial parts. Our collector is hopeful, though; he might have those missing pieces at home. The big question is, will waiting affect the trade value? Join us as Ryan sifts through the incomplete Transformers, makes an assessment, and ultimately settles on a trade value of $350. Will our collector take the money and part with his beloved toys? Find out in this nail-biting segment!
    🔥 McFarlane Mayhem: Spawn and Angel Toy Line
    But the excitement doesn't stop there! Next up, we've got a showcase of McFarlane Toys featuring Spawn and the toy line from the show Angel. The collector is eager to trade, but Ryan discovers that not all is intact-some missing pieces, some absent weapons. The collector hints at having those missing components at home. Will this impact the trade value? Join us as Ryan navigates through the McFarlane maze and arrives at a final trade value. Will the collector be satisfied, or will he hold out for a better deal?
    🪙 GI Joe Gamble: Vintage Action Figures Take the Stage
    As if that wasn't enough, Toy Federation welcomes a GI Joe enthusiast with a collection of vintage action figures. The stakes are raised as Ryan makes a friendly bet with fellow toy aficionado Andy to see if they can agree on the trade value. However, when Ryan hears Andy's assessment, he realizes he might have valued the GI Joes too high. Andy, with a keen eye, points out wear and tear, missing parts, and absent weapons that significantly impact the value. The collector, not ready to part with his prized possessions, decides to wait, hoping to bring back the missing pieces and increase the trade-in value.
    🌟 Conclusion: Decisions, Dilemmas, and Toy Valuations
    In this thrilling episode of Toy Federation, decisions are made, dilemmas unfold, and toy valuations take center stage. Will the collectors take the offered trade values, or will they hold out for a better deal? Join us on this rollercoaster of toy trading adventures that will leave you eagerly anticipating the next episode!

    The 82-83 Joes (and now more, occasionally even 00s have poor plastic) are breaking a lot more often when I replace O-rings or even put them on the original Hasbro stands. Waists break and heels fracture apart when the now-brittle plastic is stressed. I've gone to larger O-rings to prevent this. So... some of those with broken O-rings may well end up also being worth much less. It's a problem because all the O-rings eventually will need replaced. Even MOC behind bubbles. And you see the broken pieces mint on card more often.

    • @Matt_Wilson01
      @Matt_Wilson01 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Only reason the heels are breaking is because you are using early 90s style stands with the pegs a tiny bit bigger, I learnt the hard way and yes plastic quality is dropping rapidly with all toys and has been for a long time

    • @jasone7532
      @jasone7532 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Matt_Wilson01 No, not using the imperfect larger peg Chinese copies marked "1988 Hasbro" that are only good for JvC, VvV, ST, DTC, etc or anything from the 90s. Heels are breaking on original 80s stands, so I have gone to using the Star Stands Type 1 supposed to be for Star Wars and ReAction on a lot of the 82-83 Joes. Later figs are getting more brittle also. They occasionally may fall off the shelf on the stand that fits and then the heel breaks off. It's a pain.

    If you really want to get more for your items, you need to sell them yourself and take the time. However, if you are in a situation, where you need immediate compensation, then you are out of luck as you will be expected to lose 50% to 70% to a business. They will have to find the clients to buy it may have to sit on it for a while. Unfortunately, it is what it is.

      @bentonrp 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could be right. Toy collecting leads to a crazy headache. 😵‍💫

      Second: get rid of it when you don't. (avoids drowning in the stuff)

    • @RealzFoSho
      @RealzFoSho 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It isn't an accountant's nightmare. It is quite simple. There is no reason it should be anything but simple.
      You track two things. Cash In and Cash Out. That is as complicated as it needs to be.
      The IRS doesn't need to know what specifically was bought and sold and it could care less about how much you think you made on a single figure because it was part of a bulk buy and didn't have an individual buy price. You can track that type of stuff for yourself if you want (which is a waste of time in most cases), but as far as your accountant and the IRS care, Cash In and Cash Out on a quarterly basis are what matter.
      And when I say cash, I mean money changing hands, whatever the form.

    Energon Tidal wave even without the missiles and ramjet is still pretty valuable.
    been going through my stuff lately from when I moved and it was a terrible mistake to try and seperate parts from the transformers figures. They ended up separated across several boxes.

    Remember: toy stores are like comic stores. The item you bring in, even a character that’s really popular, might sit on their shelf for months or years. Typically, if a good condition item is supposedly selling for $100, you might get $30 for them to take it off your hands. Open toys are not an investment. Also, with newer toys, it’s hard to know what will be really valuable down the line. So, if you have money to waste on this, then buy that G1 Megatron in the box for several hundred. Don’t buy 50 new Transformers today and hope for something in 30 years.

      Stores offering $30 for a $100 item is why ebay and FB marketplace are taking over and physical stores are struggling/closing. Which I am all for. Great video. People harp on the sellers and sure you get the occasional disappointed person but for the most part I expect adults bringing stuff in know ahead of time they are getting a re-seller offer and are probably not concerned that much about it. If you're bringing in something to sell or get store credit, it means it has lost its personal value to you. Anything you actually care about you're most likely going to be trying to sell it online somewhere. But someone out there still loves those figures you no longer do, and that's where Toy Federation steps in.

      They aren't screwing anyone over. As a business they need to make some money from each acquisition, just because something is worth $50 doesn't mean they will pay that for it. If they did they'd make no money and he out of business within months. That's how Wal-Mart operate and all retail businesses work.

      I mean at the end of the day retailers need to make money so of course they will focus on getting it less than its worth as they need that profit margin. The real issue is weather you have the patience to find that right person to buy it at it's actual worth or you just want some easy quick cash.

      @@Bird-Birdy-Love Your right and I've had decent experiences with retailers where they were willing to give me half of whatever it was going for online and I always believed that was fair.Ive had bad experiences though where whoever I was dealing with was only offering 20%-25% or less and those are the transactions I really regret.Thankfully I've been a trusted seller with a perfect rating online over the past 3 years.Even though there's not many things left I want to get rid of whenever I acquire something to sell I can patiently and easily deal directly with the buyer and do well even at a competitive price.

      With retail price or ebay listings you have to instantly subtract 30% in seller fees, s/h, and taxes…. Then you subtract another 20-50% from that as stores typically pay less so they can profit. That’s essentially the trade in value

    I love the state of mind we collectors have, me included. We should all get what we collect for super cheap because care so much about them, we "deserve" them and when we have them they should be worth the highest value possible. Such a classic state of mind from car collectors to toys to cards to comics to rocks. We're all the same. Please actually become a seller before you even think to critique the art of the deal.
    Anyone claiming scams, if you only knew how stupid you sound, you'd stop. Its obnoxious! Start selling your precious collection and then tell us about how cheap you sold it all for. I dare you. Oh but you'll never sell right? Hahahaha! Sure.

      I collect lego, it's gotta pretty set value depending on condition - probably one of the most liquid collectibles...and hell yeah - let's say I have 20 sets, worth 100 each...each sale will take a month max if im lucky, each deal will take atleast 2-3 hours in energy spent towards that deal and the exchange...that's 60 hours and even if I knock off 20, it's still a full work week only worth 2k (minus whatever I paid which is probably close to 2k) spread over a few months lol

      Well, I feel like a lot of people don't understand 'how the world works' or how to run a store. lol
      He owns a store/business. and has employees - all of that costs money.
      The people who talk about 'scams' are just dumb and have no idea what they're talking about.
      You can't go into a store and ask for $100 for a figure that's worth $100. lmao
      How much should he sell the figure for then? Definitely not above the 'value.'
      You should be happy if you get 50% - he has to handle all the 'work & costs.'
      Of course, there are exceptions - if you come in with the 'Holy Grail,' you might get 70-90%...
      In one episode, they show a 'rare' McFarlane figure - a 'mech' from the video game Titanfall 2.
      The 'value' is around $300, and I got $260 for mine - because I just listed it on eBay.
      In the store, I might have gotten $100, $150 for it.
      For example, there's the 'Star Wars POTF2' figure series from the 90s - they produced a lot of those, and some figures in this series have countless variations.
      It could be that the 'same' Luke, Darth Vader, or Stormtrooper costs $30 instead of $10 just because it's on a 'green' instead of a 'red' card.
      But if you come into the store with a collection of POTF2 figures, he'll probably still only give you $5-6 for each figure and add it up - even though there are some variations and figures that can have a difference of $10, $20, $30, etc. when sold.
      He himself hes so many of these figures and even tho there are variations that are worth 'more' - He will still only give you the 5-6$...
      If you want to know the 'value' of your collection/figures, you should know about your collection/figures yourself or do some research. lol
      And if you want to make money from it, you'll have to go to conventions and set up a booth yourself or go through the trouble of selling it all on eBay.
      However, if you are in a situation, where you need immediate compensation, then you are out of luck as you will be expected to lose 50% to 70% to a business.

    It kind of amazes me that when people bring in a huge haul and want to maximize the trade/cash value they don't bother to put in the extra effort of taking a couple hours to sift through and be sure to match the figure with it's accessories and weapons. This is the internet age, it doesn't take much effort to go online and see which figure came with which accessories and to even ballpark the value of what you have. Instead, you have these lazy people just dumping the figures and accessories and making everyone waste their time trying to figure out what is complete, what isn't, what it's worth, etc. Put in the extra effort, please!
