I remember when I scored a c- in kcse back in 2017 people including my relatives told me I was doomed for life because of my grade they even told me my grade would follow me to the grave . so I applied for a small course dealing with computer maintaining course in small college when most of my friends were dealing with degrees in top universities but luck was on my side a certain American noticed I was good with dealing with computers he told me my skills would come in handy 6 months was the duration for my course I secretly left Kenya without my relatives noticing am currently in the US doing the job I was trained for and at the same time I started investing in crypto when it was new back in the day am now at the verge of reaching my 1 million dollar mark if u want to succeed in this day and era be prepared to have haters they laughed at my grades now I can at their bank accounts.
Am currently in university and this has really changed my mindset, I will seek to graduate and even go for masters but I will not let papers become the centre of my life, entrepreneurship is the only way to survive in Kenya
Very true I can testify that did my masters in Belgium came back to Kenya was very frustrated for almost 3 years. Applied for a phd opportunities abroad got 2 opportunities one being a 6 years employment contract with a university in Belgium. The bottom line is Kenyans need to move out of their comfort zone and explore opportunities outside. I have many Kenyans friends who we were studying together in Kenya most of them are working in Europe
I was the best pupil in my primary school (KCPE), I then joined a provincial high school where I score an A minus, joined university, and pursued Bsc, Medical laboratory science, I graduated in 2013 and sat for the KMLTTB examinations and was licensed. 9 years down the line I am still looking for a job...been a victim of depression not once or twice.,
something is wrong with you,.or your drive to look for a job,..i have a couple of friends who have done diploma in medical lab and they are way marketable even as they work on their licenses,. kuna locums,.unless if you are setting your walls too high because of your degree then you should be having a job right now,..even students on internship for medical lab get job proposals because of how marketable your curse is,..figure out what you are not doing right

Bsc Electrical Engineering is a STEM course and if you can't earn a living with this then something is seriously wrong in this country. Why isn't anyone talking about the mothers English,?Mimi mbele ya camera English itatoka kama kiluhya,,kudos to the mother..and the struggle is real..I graduated 5years ago, with a degree in manufacturing engineering still no job..I still think EBK is letting engineers down, we pay 4k yearly and the Board is not vibrant like that of medicine. I have gone to an extent of doing manual jobs in industrial area, packing etc to make ends meet. I substitute everything with online writing and its not easy, but I can't just sit there. To be honest, its not easy but we move.. As of now I still haven't seen the benefit of my papers I'm Hoping someday I will.

I think most of us Kenyans are putting alot of pressure on ourselves without a reason to. Folks have forgotten that at end of school education the real education starts, we don't educate ourselves past this, success is the progression of a worthy ideal, upto university people have been successful but we stop learning thinking things will now fall in place. Young people are going through this without a plan, yes they had a very good plan ok, but what is the plan after higher learning, what would you be doing in the meantime while seeking for your dreem job, a side hustle, remember your plans are upto 30 years plans, so you won't waste time waiting for a job that most of us now know may not come. With a hustle of a year even if you get your dream job u are sure , rent, ,furniture and other things are sorted so you don't start over, you continue with the plan. My advice to young people is as soon as you are living highschool let your plans be known to you and you alone, focus and you will surely reach your destination and never quit.

The big loss in life is spending more money on Education. The Job market doesn't need education. It only needs experience. Our President should revisit the Kenyan Education system. After KCPE One should only join college and practice his career for the 4 years of High school.
Engineering courses needs you to have a job, because that is where you will learn a lot of skills, apply and solve problems, make some money, get your license and venture out on your own, by creating your own company making use of the skills you learnt during employment.
It is a painful story but these are all what most of us as youths are going through in our country. We sacrificed a lot to learn only to reach the end of it and find that there are no jobs for us. Parents also sacrifice a lot to educate us.

Biochemist positions in kenya are few both in the government and private sector in Kenya. I'm a biochemist too. You better create employment for yourself and others. Don't wait for a job. US has a population of 300M and their number of biochemists is only 27,000. In kenya the population is about 56M. Do the math. The government should match the degrees to the market but we all know that will not happen because they will lose a lot of revenue from public universities.
Six years now with no job after graduating. I can't face my parents after all they sacrificed for me to get education. If only they knew to invest that money but they loved me to much to do that😰
reality is government can't employ everyone. the biggest employer employer in Kenya is TSC, with 300,000 plus teachers. government in total, including national government, county governments etc employ just about 1 million people. private sector should be the biggest job creator in any economy. and private sector, stories of "knowing people in right places", are rare

He got his second degree in digital forensics and information security. Graduated I 2020. Up to now, constant rejection. No interviews. I don't know which measures will improve the state of our nation but something needs to be done.

2 years ashaa loose hope....? This is my 8th year. Sitakangi ata kufungua hiyo sanduku ya my papers... Coz I really struggled got a c_ started with 2 years certificate, 3 years KNEC diploma and 4years of degree kenyatta University. That's a total of 9 years 😭😭 I still can't find a job.... They all require experience..... Unfortunately the only way to get experience was to volunteer for free.... Which by the time I was finishing cumpas it was practically impossible to do coz I already had some serious reoccurring bills..... Ended up in informal secector mjengo na vibarua.... Now I'm turning 33years.... No relevant experience but with relevant papers. 😭😭😭😭 The youth gap is closing on me.... I have a very burning Question, please 🔥🔥. This has been bothering me for years. We can see that labour supply is more than it's demand. Thus guaranteeing that most of the graduates will never get employed. The reason behind this, is the traditional mode of education and this is known to everyone. Now my question comes. Why is it that traditional education is becoming more expensive day and night yet it is seemingly useless if not totally useless. Ideally if you study in hope to graduate and find a high paying job then if you can't secure such a job. Doesn't it mean traditional education is only a wastage of time and other material resources!!???? Now the question comes again!? Why is attending school is even becoming more expensive yet those who attend school can't even reach 0.5% of their dreams!?

Is true I remember when I finished my undergraduate studies in 2014 me together with my 3 friends rented a single room together in Nairobi to avoid going back to ushago and once someone could get a job they could move out to a better place. Now all of us are doing very am doing my PhD in Belgium, one of my friends is working in Netherlands, another working with an NGO in Kenya. Graduates should know that the job market is very competitive everywhere and so it's not for the fainted hearted.

Degrees are Kenyans biggest scam...I studied In a day school and managed to be the 2rd best student in the subcounty.I went to the university and studied bsc in biochemistry and graduated as the best student in the class...I am so focused still BT not looking for a formal employment ....all the years I did that I only got frustrated and depressed.
Biochemist positions in kenya are few both in the government and private sector in Kenya. I'm a biochemist too. You better create employment for yourself and others. Don't wait for a job. US has a population of 300M and their number of biochemists is only 27,000. In kenya the population is about 56M. Do the math. The government should match the degrees to the market but we all know that will not happen because they will lose a lot of revenue from public universities.
Six years now with no job after graduating. I can't face my parents after all they sacrificed for me to get education. If only they knew to invest that money but they loved me to much to do that😰

reality is government can't employ everyone. the biggest employer employer in Kenya is TSC, with 300,000 plus teachers. government in total, including national government, county governments etc employ just about 1 million people. private sector should be the biggest job creator in any economy. and private sector, stories of "knowing people in right places", are rare

We have many lawyers in politics are they practicing law? Even Albert Einstein is reported to have said--That education is what remains after he has forgotten everything he have learned in school. I have personally learnt that the world plays a different game and we better learn those rules.

I really feel for him. My brother graduated in 2017 in Mathematics and computer science and got no job. Constant rejection. He decided to do masters abroad through a scholarship. He got his second degree in digital forensics and information security. Graduated I 2020. Up to now, constant rejection. No interviews. I don't know which measures will improve the state of our nation but something needs to be done.
And am currently doing mathematics and Computer Science 🤔

2 years ashaa loose hope....? This is my 8th year. Sitakangi ata kufungua hiyo sanduku ya my papers... Coz I really struggled got a c_ started with 2 years certificate, 3 years KNEC diploma and 4years of degree kenyatta University. That's a total of 9 years 😭😭 I still can't find a job.... They all require experience..... Unfortunately the only way to get experience was to volunteer for free.... Which by the time I was finishing cumpas it was practically impossible to do coz I already had some serious reoccurring bills..... Ended up in informal secector mjengo na vibarua.... Now I'm turning 33years.... No relevant experience but with relevant papers. 😭😭😭😭 The youth gap is closing on me.... My fate is sealed if I don't land a job in the next two years 😭😭 Community Development and Social work. 😭😭😭🙏🙏

Things went south begining the 1990s and 2000s when the population had ballooned and most professions and the job market had reached saturation points.

Sad how graduates and other learned people are left to struggle finding a job while useless people who don't meet the academic threshold gets awarded with government jobs and other opportunities. Rewarding compatriots instead of awarding competency. Kenya is headed to a pit of ignorance, that's why people who gets to these offices are making kangaroo decisions. Not to mention names, but there are people who have been appointed to office but in reality even from a layman point of view they don't fit to run the affairs of public government posts that they hold. Lots of qualified young people from the Universities, great ambitious minds and energetic with the desire to make life better in their nation and mother land have been left to seek for employment in other already developed nations. And now some inexperienced yesman have the audacity to think of withdrawing university funding?!!?? Is he speaking his mind or the ideology of his employer who already has had that plan all the way????

I have a very burning Question, please 🔥🔥. This has been bothering me for years.
We can see that labour supply is more than it's demand. Thus guaranteeing that most of the graduates will never get employed.
The reason behind this, is the traditional mode of education and this is known to everyone.
Now my question comes.
Why is it that traditional education is becoming more expensive day and night yet it is seemingly useless if not totally useless. Ideally if you study in hope to graduate and find a high paying job then if you can't secure such a job. Doesn't it mean traditional education is only a wastage of time and other material resources!!????

Is true I remember when I finished my undergraduate studies in 2014 me together with my 3 friends rented a single room together in Nairobi to avoid going back to ushago and once someone could get a job they could move out to a better place. Now all of us are doing very am doing my PhD in Belgium, one of my friends is working in Netherlands, another working with an NGO in Kenya. Graduates should know that the job market is very competitive everywhere and so it's not for the fainted hearted.
