Imo tennis is one of the most difficult professional sports to play. Its certainly a lot harder than football, basketball and the other mainstream sports. You have my biggest respect. Every pro tennis player in the top 1000 deserved huge respect. Its possible. I believe in you bro 😉
Gosh, surprised at how harsh some of the comments are on here. Just keep going, Felix. It’s a pleasure to watch your journey and your thought process with it!
Hi Felix, I’m from from Cape Town and I train on those courts. I go to the Coppini Academy there. I unfortunately couldn’t catch you because I had school. Hope you play more here and have better luck. Enjoy the festivities 🎾
Felix been a long time fan and have loved your videos so much that I watch them several times. I think today you had an incredible first match especially in the first set, I’m not the best but it’s crazy the volleys that you get to. I think the big thing though is the mindset that you were talking about, you need to have a mindset that it doesn’t matter if you win or lose. Have a fantastic day, and hopefully this last tournament goes well for you!!!
Bruh idgaf about the harsh comments. Even when you're not 100% you manage to still play 10× better than I ever could, and honestly that's very inspiring to me. Keep up the good work Felix🙏🏾
The travels are something so overlooked whrn we talk about tennis, its one of the most taxing and extreme part of the sports, and any detail that doesnt go well can affect on tbe level displayed in match
Great singles play and camera work , you played like a demon buddy after all that travel time and being fatigued , big respect ! Yes go for quality next time not quantity , only so many tournaments you can play and you need the correct amoint of time to settle and play your best game ATB
Beast Mode bro, huge respect to you! I remember flying from Taiwan to Los Angeles a few years back and the next day playing a singles match for my USTA 5.0 league team. The jet lag was absolutely horrible. The following weekend I ran a 42km marathon in San Diego and that was much more fun. 🤣 Looking forward to watching the doubles matches!
Bro Félix did a nice Glow up I used to watch with his bro Lucian back in 2020 me too I was younger 😅😢love you my Friend I hope to see you one day I am from Tunisia ONS jabeur's country
I played my first ITF match 3 weeks ago in Cape Town on the exact court you played in the 2nd match. Lets just say the stress got to me and I played actual dog water. Big fan supporting you all the way❤
A very interesting video for a few points. The first is that it shows that the lack of sleep has a big effect on performance. Now what you experienced in your first match when you said you felt a bit relaxed is actually very common when our brain wants us to do something different like in your case go to sleep. You more than likely played without any fear of losing as you kind of expected that would happen as it did in your second game. Now as a psychologist this is the mindset that I am always trying to get players to embrace with of course the goal of actually winning the match. There is a tip for sleep issues in this situation. You drink a good strong coffee just before you take a 15 min sleep. The key here is not to allow yourself to sleep more than 15mins as it will really effect your ability to function. The 15 mins is just enough time to give a quick recharge to your brain and the coffee will do two things, first it will block the adenosine receptors. Adenosine is a hormone that build up during the day and help us go to sleep. Blocking its uptake will give a boost of energy and secondly the coffee will also boost your brain performance lifting the feeling of tiredness long enough to play your games. Putting on my nutritionist hat I would assume that your diet is high in carbs and that also effects your energy levels. If your body was more fat burning adapted you would have have a drip feed of fuel keeping you going and your need for high sugar foods would be less and that would also allow your brain to function at a higher level. Overall this was a great example which is hard to setup in a lab of lack of sleep on elite level performance. From a performance perspective it is a very good example of how much better we can perform when our brain has other things to concerning it such as sleep. Try to remember that simple fact because the difference between the top level players and the rest is their ability to relax certain brain functions when they are in stressful situations. This allows them to actually improve their performance and add pressure to their opponent. Of course you must also have the skill level, fitness and all the rest, but what you experienced in the first match is what we always want just without the tiredness. sorry for the long comment.......
Very good effort and wise decision to stop. But remember that looseness. It’s what you actually need to improve, especially for singles. The quality of striking goes up, you hit a lot cleaner, especially the backhand. I don’t think your forehand and serve are your real weapons on the the higher level you desire, but your quickness.
Man, what a nice win in the first match! I have myself played some of my best matches after just one hour of sleep or less. My hypothesis is that adrenaline can really push us through. Of course, getting enough sleep is better, but it is nice to know that you can still win matches without having slept.
You're playing with fire. Live and learn, for sure, but you're so lucky you didn't get injured what with both body and judgment weakened, just don't again!
Cape Town conditions are weird to play. It'd fast and takes time. Jet lag is no joke when playing tennis - its almost like playing wasted. lol BUT - Cape Town is awesome and always worth a trip. Hope you did some fun stuff as well.
Felix take losses up the chin. Seetso has won 0 matches in his career. He has no ranking. His Davis Cup wins are over other players on the region with no ranking points. You sell him high, then you sell yourself low to impress more people. The no sleep part is true and commendable to play like that. But don't make your opponents look better than they are for your viewers. It's tacky to clarify you played sick with Asaba months ago. Omit that. Did that add anything to your viewers or did you feel an internal need to excuse a loss to him? Don't convince your viewers you are better than your results with excuses. Convince them with results. They support you even when you lose 61 61. Almost every Futures player is tired and in poor condition from traveling, poor sleep, or sickness. That's life in Futures. Put your head down, take the losses, and continue.
well said, I'd also say you can't win with the wuss mindset, of poor me, I'm should lose this because of what I'm feeling. That's a lasers mindset. be stoic like nadal, fed, sinner.
I appreciate his selling his opponents, it's super important to respect the potential of opponents and not underestimate them, I like how he shows how tough it is and why, this is a vlog channel, not just a matchups channel, so building it up to how it felt and how he wanted to take his opponent seriously, I feel like we get in the head of Felix and that's why I watch. I assume of course that futures players have it tough just like Felix or maybe tougher in some circumstances. He's sharing his honest perspective and explaining his feelings. It'd be different if he cried to his opponents after the match as to why he lost
And in the next video where he might under rate the opponent you will say he is disrespectful. There is no way to satisfy everyone, so please understand that it is his view and experience at the moment. NOT yours.
Felix mate with these court level videos, it would be way better if you made the nearside baseline straight on the camera/video. Right now it is curved and that curvature messes up the perception of speed! I think this can be altered with a simple change in the camera settings. No need for a whole new camera
Its jet lag I had it before I flew from Australia all the way the Grand rapid Michigan and that is 16+ hours of flying and its pretty hard to play when your sleepy.
Just a question, would you be able to sustain the tour financially if it weren't for ur side hustle's? Anyway keep up the hard work and ignore haters who literally can only comment
in all honesty, though I get your point, why would you book a flight only on Friday because you thought "you could be playing singles QF in Monastir" on your first tournament back from an injury, and considering you haven't played any QFs in singles the whole year? kinda unrealistic also considering you did actually play some solid qualies throughout the year and could very well get through this one (meaning, you have much better chances in qualies and should bank on those in these situations)...
People are gonna be negative and emotional when they see you lose, but that's just because they really care about seeing you win and getting better! Jesus didn't rush his ministry, don't rush your journey either. Psalms 27:14
You talk too much. Think too much. Searching for excuses too much. That does not help your game. Mental fitness and toughness, matchready, confidence, being a warrior. I miss that in your matches too many times. That is a shame, because your level has certainly gone up.
Why would you travel that far to not want to play bc you are tired? Wow was not expecting this. And if you are tired, you play aggressive and not push to save energy. Which pushing is by far your worst playing style. Best luck next year.
You put yourself in that position, quit making excuses and take your fitness and travel seriously. You clearly have more ability than alot of these futures players but you shoot yourself in the foot over and over.
I agree. Every video starts with excuses why this time I lost again. If not this and that circumstances Felix would definitely could win Wimbledon, but this and that and also something more .. :)
Completely agree, Felix is talented but he’s not phenomenally gifted so the only way to compensate for that (which it’s definitely possible to do) is with mentality and work ethic. There are/have been ‘Elite’ players that have been top 10 or even won slams that weren’t phenomenally naturally gifted but they had something really special mentally. De Minaur is arguably the least naturally gifted ball-striker in the Top 100 and he’s currently world number 8! 🔥 Obviously to reach that level or similar they will’ve started way earlier and committed to Tennis from a super young age so I don’t think that level of success is possible for Felix at 21 and ranked outside the top 2000 becuase there’s just not enough time. But if he was tougher mentally he could be well inside top 1000 by now. His technique is very good
Yes, I was exactly thinking about that too. If we compare his videos and game with Karue ones. There is some difference in a level of technique between them since they are separated by 2 or even more points of UTR levels, but what is seen immediately is how they relate to their game and wins and losses. Karue's inner voice seems to be almost always positive and taking responsibility and trying constantly to improve. Why Felix always looking for justification to his losses in external circumstances and therefore undermines his own efforts to improve.
I feel like Felix definitely deserves to be top 500 in the world Keep up the great work man we all believe in you. please like this comment my comments never get liked😊
Felix I mean no disrespect, I understand you're only 21, but it does not feel like you have the kind of level needed to climb the rankings in singles, I followed your videos for the entire year and I'm not seeing much improvement in your game to take you to the next level. Wouldn't it be a smarter use of your time to dedicate to just playing doubles? perhaps there's a higher chance of success there.
Imo tennis is one of the most difficult professional sports to play. Its certainly a lot harder than football, basketball and the other mainstream sports.

Don't let the negative people come to your mind, they need this, to feel better. Do what you want and I think, top 1000 is possible.
@chosh3637 Real criticism is okay and important, yes. But i'm not talking about real criticism.
Felix been a long time fan and have loved your videos so much that I watch them several times. This is the CLEANEST i have ever seen you hit the ball, try and carry this relaxed attitude to your future matches.
Love from South Africa 🇿🇦 ❤

In all fairness, that Ibrahim guy was pretty good and solid. Great volley and touch. Fast. Smart plays. He wasn't just going to roll over.

Keeping it real felix
Keep it up 👍

Ps: you should reach out Joao Fonseca, it would be great to see a match between you

brilliant comment, i don't think Felix understands this tho--- it might be interpreted as bad blood

And in the next video where he might under rate the opponent you will say he is disrespectful. There is no way to satisfy everyone, so please understand that it is his view and experience at the moment. NOT yours.
Let's go Felix! Keep playing loose!
Dude!! If you still in South Africa I'd love a game! I'm in Cape Town

Way to keep fighting on empty but wise decision to stay healthy. Good luck!
Not trying to hate but why did you NEED to retire, just because you were playing with too little sleep?
Its jet lag I had it before I flew from Australia all the way the Grand rapid Michigan and that is 16+ hours of flying and its pretty hard to play when your sleepy.
I'm from SA let's go Felix
Hey is Big fan from yours from denmark
Way no! me to, jeg er også fra den Danmark :D
That is insane how you flew half the earth
Well your not most players
can you please make a video of your recording setup
The level differences in this sport are so insane
Just a question, would you be able to sustain the tour financially if it weren't for ur side hustle's? Anyway keep up the hard work and ignore haters who literally can only comment
Take your time and come back stronger with proper health conditions
Hello Félix, I am from Colombia and I want to play professionally, but I don't have money, what can I do? Could you help me in some way?
🔥

Can feel the fatigue..
Why does the video say “I’m done” (indicating that you’re quitting your pursuit altogether)?
I'm actually so close to where you where because I'm on vacation
Would love to meet you you are such a inspiration
Denzel can't hit a groundie past the service line! You need to be cleaning up on those short balls Felix, and hitting with depth most of the time.
ur cooked, big up for the hustle
Appreciate that
Are you still here I was just a little up form where you were playing I really wanna play with 😢😢
You talk too much. Think too much. Searching for excuses too much. That does not help your game. Mental fitness and toughness, matchready, confidence, being a warrior. I miss that in your matches too many times. That is a shame, because your level has certainly gone up.
Felix I always love your videos but I think we are frustrated at the reason you lost! We know you can win!
i guess travelling would be cheaper without a cameraman.
It’s just his cousin who pays for himself
It’s his cousin who he played doubles with James pays for his own
I guess not being a moron would help you?
@@99cya plus he makes money from these videos so tie smart lol
I saw you in Stellenbosch
Why would you travel that far to not want to play bc you are tired? Wow was not expecting this. And if you are tired, you play aggressive and not push to save energy. Which pushing is by far your worst playing style. Best luck next year.
Wrong flag for Bali (Indonesia) my friend. It is supposed to be 🇮🇩 and not 🇵🇱(Poland)
Stick to doubles
His
Big win. Keep playing loose! Maybe have a beer or two before each match haha
Beard suits you

Did you change balls after 7 games? Otherwise a grinder like that becomes tough as the balls softens
It´s ITF entry level, there is no cash for new balls every 9 games.
2nd
Felix
