Listen, I LOVE Funspot. I go up there several times a year. I really and truly love the place. The best part of Funspot for me is the American Classic Arcade Museum (ACAM). It's lovingly maintained by Gary Vincent and he does an AMAZING job keeping these games running. You are not gonna find another place with such a comprehensive list of games under one roof. They have pretty much EVERY game at Funspot. It's in an awesome resort area near Weirs Beach and Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. It's truly worth the trip for a summer vacation if you live on the east coast! Funspot was featured in the film King of Kong where Billy Mitchell and Steve Wiebe battled it out on Donkey Kong.
Funspot is located at address 579 Endicott Street North Laconia, NH 03246. Their website is www.funspotnh.com/

wow!! thanks for the tour, as a kid i summered there 1975, 76 77 78 fun spot did not look like that, also there was / is as of 2001 went back to show the wife. A arcade on the boardwalk / and recall 1983 water slide, went back again then, to the beach once, pinball was my vice

The walkthrough that classic area transported me back to my early teens (79-85) when the arcades were at their peak. I really really miss proper old school arcades. What really stood out for me was the noise. I used to love hearing the sounds from the neighbouring games - there will never be anything quite like it again sadly. Long may Funspot continue.

Yes the vintage smell of the Sabarro pizzeria in the mall "food court" permed mullets, hair spray. The guy giving out quarters with the hip sack. The cd/record store next door. Metal t-shirts. Those were the good ol days I could go on and on.

Thanks for making this video! In my younger years I got to spend a good 1/3rd of my life at a summer house just south of Winnipesaukee and went to Fun Spot quite a few times each summer and was my favorite place to go to. I even have some very early memories of riding this red/yellow chair wheel ( 22:55 ) when I was just 2/3 years old.

I grew up in Laconia and actually just moved to Texas 2 years ago. Fun spot gave me so many great memories and we used to go here when we were bored teenagers. After moving away, I now realize I took this among many things in nh for granted. It makes me so happy to see people enjoying things in my home town ❤️

Hello John, I really enjoy the passion that you have for this kind of hobby. It shows how much you really love all of this. This also makes me really happy. Things now a days are not like the 80's or 90's any longer. Now everyone has at their homes these home systems that now arcades are seen everywhere unless we visit a Funspot or Dave and Busters. Ive enjoyed very much my childhood days . Where I lived at New Jersey we had a place called Big Boo's .

Beautiful, if I ever hit the lotto I will have my own arcade museum, for now I only have my home style arcade set up and some arcade classics downloaded on my consoles. But the nostalgia of standing up in front of a small screen inserting quarters to play omg, nothing like it.

Hey John you truly are a Arcade master. Well impressed. When I travel to different countries im always looking to check out any retro arcades as there dieing out in the UK. We used to have a Taito Amusement Arcade near to where i lived which was mega cool (the only other one in the world was in Tokyo) but that closed its doors nearly 8 yrs ago now!!!!!!

I was at FunSpot last week :) first time! I brought a friend from Australia who was visiting for the month and she loved it too! I live in NH on the seacoast so it's about a 90 minute drive, but this will become a new yearly tradition I believe.
If you're okay with crowds than go anytime of the year, but going in November around 11am and there won't be huge crowds to deal with (though enough people as the day wore on to feel not alone).
    Pizza was great as well.

Hi John, love your vids, your arcade is so cool. Im from the UK & there's a couple of retro arcades here that I know about, Arcade Club & Astro City, they both hold events etc, Astro City is in my home town, Southend On Sea. I'd love to have a few retro arcade cabinets of my own, but lack of room, money & time. I normally have to make do & get my fix with MAME, it's good but it's a shadow of the real thing. Please keep up the good work, top respect to you & all the retro arcade people keeping these games alive. Live long & prosper & may the force be with you. ;)

  • @NLind

22:50 - I recognize that sound. It's from a ball roll-down game where you'd get a racquetball and roll it down to the other end and it would drop into a certain slot. The arcade in our mall had it for a while. Also after that little sound happens a voice says (IIRC) Ready... Fire! I think its the game seen at 23:47 that the lady is seated at.

I can reflect on how people react to seeing a video camera in the hand. Been harrassed in the past, just for having one visible. And, considering how busy the place was...I kept expecting a 'You can't' voice to come out of nowhere. ;P

From what I've seen the place gives off a similar vibe to the stop n play in florida. Of course that place is a lot smaller and has mostly redemption stuff (really a poor man's funspot lol), but there's a lot of bizzaro stuff you don't really see much. Some nice pins and a surprising amount of 4 player stuff, I think they had both turtles and simpsons along with some weird data east game... neat stuff.
