He was most definitely a serial killer. The way he openly bragged about his bodies on Twitter and tweeted almost everyday about how much he loved to kill and how much he was out to shoot somebody, he had an infatuation with it. He put on a good mask with the calm and collected attitude he had, but that’s just like many other serial killers. He even saw himself as one. With basically 7 confirmed bodies, that’s definitely past the threshold to be considered one. He was methodical too, waking up first thing in the morning and roaming the streets for opps is not a normal thing to do, even as a gangmember. People around him were even freaked out by him, they saw him as the Devil.

@chiefslapaho I understand that sometimes the environment you grow up in shapes your identity. He had an opportunity to become better but chose to continue to crumble his community instead of bettering it. You can't just go around unaliving ppl because of vengeance. That's not how life works. Now look, he's no longer here. He had his entire life ahead of him. He had a testimony that could've changed so many young ppls lives. He made it out but refused to stay out. None of that is true you’re just ignorant to what life is like in other places. If you haven’t grown up in areas where this is ACTUAL LIFE then you have no insight to what it’s like. What would you do if you were in the slums with absolutely nothing? A lot of us relied on friends because we didn’t have a good home life or we didn’t have both parents or parents at all. Now what do you think the normal reaction would be in that element if somebody takes those close friends which is all you have in this world and not only that they joke and kid about it? To top it off this element you live in will label you a punk because you did nothing about it. Now you’re pressured to go and slide on those people for revenge 1. Because it’s a normal reaction 2. You either do that or you get bullied and robbed for the rest of your life. Everything you say is evil and morbid is actually normal and rational. You do what you gotta do. After a while does that power and control and paranoia go to your head a bit? Of course but it’s all in the game. As Aavon barksdale said best “the game will always be the game”

I grew up in the ghetto, used to be the biggest raphead. But now as I’m in my early 30’s and matured, I’ve stepped back and can recognize how truly disgusting it is we idolize in the rap community and the overwhelmingly toxic culture that’s come about it.
With you. I grew up on No Limit, Cash Money, 3/6 Mafia. We used to love Soulja Slim and wore RIP Soulja Slim T-Shirts that we made to high school. But Slim was a killer who kid napped a dude, killed him, rapped about it and basically taunted his homies to put a hit on him. He was wrong and we were wrong for listening and living that street life. Now that I’m grown and married with a good job I can’t listen to rap that much because I know how destructive that lifestyle is for real. I respect the talent of Lil Baby and these young dudes but knowing what I know now I just can’t play that toxicity like I used to.
Rap is more than just gangsta rap or drill. I (used to) idolize rappers like guru, inspectah deck, gza, krs one, chuck d, rakim, ice cube etc. None of them were glorifying murder, even though what they spit was still street related, and no bubble gum stuff. But without the glorification
I had ran into Von in 2012-13 when I was at a restaurant on 64th Cottage Grove. He asked me for a few dollars and I said I didn't have it after he just watched me pay for my food. Then he was like I just watched you pay for your food tho? I said this isn't my money. Then he said "so what you gone do if I ran your pockets and took it". I ain't say shit then he starts circling me and sizing me up. I was definitely bigger than him, but I ain't do shit but step back and prep like he was tryna fight. The store owner finally comes out and yells at him to get out of his store. He stood there smiling for like 5 seconds and then was like "aight bet" and left the store. You could see him through the glass walk to the right, luckily I stayed to the left, so I left without getting my food and called my pops and told him what happened. My dad left and picked up the food. And that was that. I ran into him a few more times in the neighborhood because I always remembered his face but luckily he wasn't on bullshit then. Fast forward to like '19, my little brother's listening to Crazy Story by Von. I REALLY like the song so I add it to my playlist and start to really listen to this guy. I ended up watching The Before They Were Famous King Von Edition on YT, found out he was from down the street from me and when I saw his mugshot from 2014 in that video I immediately recognized him. He looked COMPLETELY DIFFERENT of course due to fame. I'm just glad today I wasn't on this list for a few dollars lol

It’s bc the typically internalize stuff, until pushed over the edge and it’s a different type of going off. I know bc I’m like that. Fortunately I grew up in a stable environment (even though parents divorced when I was young they were civil to each other and out me first), got an education, and developed emotional maturity and self control. This whole cycle that keeps repeating itself is so sad and frustrating to watch. It’s clear government and city officials don’t care about the people in these situations, but also that the ones who turn to this life make life much worse for those in the community (wouldn’t even call it a community) just trying to live and hopefully better their situation. But I can totally see how growing up in these conditions makes people turn out like this. Like no bs dudes like Von and Melly would have made great gang leaders/soldiers in Somalia
You're right. Durk was acting like a complete fool, and it makes stands to reason; if you're sliding for a monster who was being watched by every single law enforcement community going, while using money to pay for a rampage that can clearly be linked back to you.... you're a straight moron and you aint coming back from that.
Feds could’ve BEEEEEEN locked him and so many others up, yet we all know they rather see niggas keep killing each other for as long as possible……..THEN finally locking them up for Life, Win Win for the white man, Lose Lose for the Black Man….
What a weird culture, it used to be about getting out the hood, not becoming a hood martyr. Nobody doing this to them but themselves, this is a hell of their own making
most ain’t want out the hood, they wanted to avenge they dead homies until they “came out on top” but they ain’t realize they ain’t no coming out on top, it’s just death after death in retaliation every time until you yourself dead
And you see how the women in their lives encouraging that shit too. That’s why I keep saying we’re all the problem. After the death of her blood thirsty son, his mom’s tribute was probably full of praises. ”he was an angel, he had a good heart“. Their criminal offsprings are always ”good kids“ in their stories. Not only King Von, a lot of them have other male acquaintances and major female enablers.
I think a lot of people haven't really taken notice of the fact that gang-based murders are rarely about carrying out gang business anymore, but almost exclusively about fun and retaliation for slights -- real or perceived. That means most folks wouldn't really think about gangland shootings as being related to serial killing, but it is, now more than ever.
Well said, but I still disagree. Most serial killers pick random victims; Von had specific issues with these people. Von didnt seek out people who were defenseless to him, he made sure his enemies were playing the same game he was. So its hard for me to put King Von in the same box as Jeffrey Dahmer. Sorry chief 🪶
This documentary doesn’t tell me how crazy and scary King Von was, it tells me how careless Chicago’s law enforcement is and how they looked the other way on purpose.
Right ! All this showed me is that Chicago pd DEFINITELY has an agenda when it comes to the gang violence. I get the vibe that they know what’s going on and they are letting the war continue until the gangs eventually exterminate each other, it just felt creepy like the police is purposely turning a blind eye & I know if it’s ever a time I wanna get away with murder I just gota make sure me and my victim are both in Chicago when I commit the murder 🥴🥴🥴
@@HUNGRYFLOWER98 law enforcement gave them excuses to kill and the fact that you’re overlooking that is crazy. Every neighborhood got a King Von, this is nothing new. The only difference is every neighborhood has a more effective criminal system and police officers than Chicago has.

Omg for real! He obviously knew she was gay and didn’t like dudes. That’s why he would fk with her like that. To taunt not because he was in love. 🤦🏻♀️
King von had am opportunity to change his life and he still ruined it. Just because he lived in the hardest parts of his life, it doesn't mean he had to kill. His legacy is basically his desire to kill and make others sad.
That's the one thing that bothered me. Von wasn't just a hood dude who made it out, he was according to his own words a savage killer and that he's beat murder charges. This guy wasn't just given an opportunity to change, he was given a miracle blessing despite all the evil stuff he did and he still messed it up. Nobody would've blamed Von for taking a step back after all he did for his gang. People like Von are unique though no matter how much money they have they still move like a savage. He was always going to end up dead or in prison and as crazy as it is, he might've gotten out easy compared to Muwop and the others. Those guys are in their early to mid 20's and will probably serve 50+ years in Federal Prison before they die in their 70's.
You can tell theres a big difference between Durk and Von. Durk came from the same environment but he knew how to utilize his past to make money. I don’t think Von cared about money or fame, that was just for flexing and showing off to his opps, but I honestly think the dude had cravings for his violent actions… Every rapper rapped about violence, but Von rapped and glorified homicide over anything. His beef with his opps was a catalyst, or an excuse for what he really wanted. His tweets are scary as hell, bro was really sick
Von rapped about being a gangster before anything else he told stories of robbing stealing and killing and repped his set. and just like alot of other gangster rappers before him (G-Dep, Gucci Mane, Chi Ali etc) he just unfortunately wasnt lying like alot of lame rappers do for clout.
@@S3NPAPI To an extent, but he even talked about shooting up Dunbar high school, him liking “cereal” which was a code word for Him being a serial killer, and most importantly him leaving clues behind how many people he’s killed is what proves he’s not just rapping bro, the guy was a crazy blood thirsty killer

The most important thing that made Von's lifestyle so dangerous is something specific to the Chicago drill scene, and that's that none of them are actual gang members in the traditional sense. Gang rivalries arise as a byproduct of competition between criminal gangs over territory to sell drugs or guns or stolen cars in. The hostility toward rival gangs and their members is a result of the economy of gangs. For people like King Von and the people he hung around with, the violence and rivalries WAS the point of being in a gang. They weren't moving shit. They weren't running drugs, they weren't running guns, they weren't doing anything that was making them money or networking them. The only point of being in a gang for Von and his contemporaries was that they wanted the aesthetic of having enemies and opposition, having people you wanna kill and who want to kill you. With real street gangs, the violence is a product of the competition. With these drill kids, they just want the status of being a banger and a reason to hurt somebody. It makes it especially easy to die because there's no good way to avoid it. You can't just say well okay I won't sell drugs in that guy's hood so he won't have a problem with me. Just by the very fact that you live a few blocks down from other people is enough to make them want to hurt you. It's why Von's dead, it's why Duck's dead, it's why Capone's dead, and it's why really the only significant Chicago drill rappers who are still alive are Lil Durk and King Louie, who used their fame and money to get out of the hood as fast as they could, and Chief Keef, who was a wannabe poseur right from the start and never came from the hood to begin with.

Those guys are in their early to mid 20's and will probably serve 50+ years in Federal Prison before they die in their 70's.
