Mafudad company and job seems pretty tough. I guess that's how toxic working environment would be. I heard working environment in Japan tend to be extremely committed to company and also have long work hours. To think he sacrificed his family time, it is really sad. At least, he is paying more attention to Mafuyu and try to understand her better now
in the past two days i've seen bunch of people (mainly on tiktok) actually hating on mafudad for being absent mafus whole life. i think pals underestimate just how bad working culture in some countries can be. imo it's great that writers bring up this problem and what consequences of working long hours might be. nowadays there aren't many media that brush on the topic (with the message that it affects your relationships severely, esp with family)

@@tigeriswatching But I also understand why they were hating too. Since mafudad was absent, mafumom had to make up for his absence in her and Mafuyu's lives. This is what drives them to become overly attached. In conclusion, the Asahinas is so sad yet so beautifully written, it's complex but it exists in real life.
@@marinepetal Yeah, I get it if people blaming Mafudad for that reason. Still, I think he doesn't deserve hate that much. Mafudad being absent is indeed affecting Mafuyu. But, managing between work and family isn't that simple. Mafudad can't just leave his responsibilities at work just for his family, everyone in the company probably feel the same like he does. Moreover, Mafudad entrust Mafuyu to Mafumom. Also, Mafuyu's "perfect girl" persona makes him believe on how independent Mafuyu was. But, I'm glad he can take care Mafuyu even if it's late.
@@marinepetal I also agree that the portrayal of Mafuyu household is really nice. Most of dads we know in prsk are people that probably works independently iirc, so they might be able to determine their own time. While, Mafudad is portrayed as a businessman/employee, which has a contract with company to begin with.

It's interesting that Mafumama, being the traditional housewife and caregiver was the sole authority figure through Mafuyu's childhood. That's probably one of the reasons why she has such an infulence over her.
It’s an Asian household. It’s typically decided that the men have no part in child raising unless they actually want to.
This might be a thing where the father left it all to the mother and only just realized the effects of it.
It reminds me of kimono mom somehow..

i just realized that mafuyu's parents are weirdly reminiscent of the parents in the movie adaptation of the little prince. same roles: the mom is a micro manager who wants the "best" future for her daughter and the dad is basically absent. for the girl's birthday, the mom gets her a microscope for her science classes (mind you she's 8) and her dad gets her a snowglobe. you might think that the snowglobe is the better gift until you realize that the dad has gifted her a snowglobe every birthday for the past 7 years of her life. dw, the mom gets better and lets her kid be a kid (i mean, thats the whole message of the story-)
i havent read the 7th ep yet so im not entirely sure how good mafudad is (but hes probably a good but absent dad) so lets just remember to acknowledge his faults and not praise all the way is what im trying to say

yes! and i think mafudad and mafumom mirror each other so well for this reason. mafumom has always been there and knows what the issue was but has never and will likely never take responsibility. mafudad wasn't there enough but now that he actually sees the issue he is doing everything he can to help her. he was not the greatest father in the past but he is trying now and that's what matters the most.

Honestly I feel bad for Mafuyu’s mom. She was clearly very loving during Mafuyu’s childhood, and as the homemaker it sounds like she may have become extremely stressed and burnt out, which ended up bleeding into how she treated Mafuyu.
I don’t think she’s a malicious person like people claim she is. I think she, like Mafuyu, is broken in her own way.

@@indeterminant it’s probably also fear. Once your kid gets older, it’s easy to get scared that they’re doing something dangerous, or talking to the wrong people, or getting hooked on a vice.
When a parent has a good support system (like their spouse), they can work through those fears. But when you don’t have someone available, those fears can fester and you’re prone to becoming controlling because the alternative becomes terrifying.
There’s a middle ground between too lenient and too strict, but a lot of people don’t realize how hard it is for parents to find that middle ground. Especially now adays with social media and all the brainrot the kids are being exposed to on a daily basis.

It’s a bit complex since we can see a mix of behavior in childhood being positive and negative.
A lot of ppl just dismiss the difficulties of caring for a child and being a home maker in general. And it’s just common for ppl to just think it’s ok for men to not child raise at all (tho there’s also a problem with how JP society expects the bread earners to forsake their family life for making their company money).
I like how it’s making it clear that he had little role in raising her as a kid, even if he did care. And just left it all to his wife without realizing what his wife was doing.
Shes clearly not malicious, but there are ppl who delusional in their belief they are right and won’t accept or consider they might not be.
Counterpoint: Nuance exists. You can be so stressed that you get bitter and turn to do doing things you know will hurt others to cut that stress out QUICKLY instead of taking an extra five minutes to deal with it in a way that benefits everyone, which unless you’re having an actual mental BREAK is malicious. “Oh, bawling and crying worked for me when I was overwhelmed. I should start bawling and crying when I’m NOT overwhelmed and just don’t feel like treating others as humans with their own feelings” is not something you HAVE to do, but it seems like it’s how Mafumom is. You can be a victim of one scenario (stress) while still being malicious in how you weaponize your responses to it. Her deadpanning something to the effect of ‘why isn’t it working’ when Mafuyu kept trying to reason with her despite Mafumom’s crying shows she IS in control when she does that shit. She could stop and listen and try to explain like a normal human but CHOOSES to be manipulative instead. Meanwhile when she’s _actually_ upset after Mafuyu is gone she’s just genuinely hysterical. There’s a clear difference and I think the latter gave her the idea to do the former and so she decided to intentionally weaponize it instead of just letting Mafuyu have free will. Nuance.

Unrelated but i think Mafudad has a fondness for sushis somehow. He offered to eat them with Mafuyu and also did the same with Mafumom back in chapter 2
This was the case for Mafumom too, back in Depths of Despair she gave cake for Mafuyu, and in Immiscible Discord she offered cake for Kanade. And in official profile cakes are revealed to be her favourite food. Interesting..

ohh true, with tsukasas parents always being away going to hospitals because of saki. maybe the bigger reason he wants saki to be happy and healthy is so that his family could be all together and not leave him out of everything all the time

my dad was busy with work a lot while I was growing up, often missing things like school events or yes, sometimes birthdays, and my mom would say things along the lines of “he’s busy with work today, but he’ll be home early tomorrow!!” in an effort to cheer me up.
As a little kid I was never really bothered, but later in childhood I would get really upset over it.
I respect my dad a lot for the sacrifices he’s made to provide for my family, but it’s just sad I never have had real quality time with him.
(Combine that with the fact that my mom’s a controlling narcissistic asshole with ‘good intentions’ and wow!! I’m more of a Mafuyu kinnie than I thought/lh)

This is why it bugs me when people say “well in Japanese culture it’s normal to be working so much that-“ Just because it’s normal doesn’t mean it doesn’t bother them! There are also a lot of things in western culture that are ‘normal’ that are also not okay. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not blaming HIM but it’s a weird thing to say when a fandom wonders if everyone is unaffected by it. “He missed my baseball game for work” is a trope for a reason, and the trope isn’t that no one is upset! Mafudad seems to be a kind person who is probably just as upset about his absence as Mafuyu is- probably more now that he sees something has been going on without his knowledge. That’s the vibe he gives off to me at least. In his own way he’s a victim of all of this too. He entrusted his beloved daughter to his wife thinking she would be well loved and cared for while he was gone… my heart breaks for him too.

I think it's better if they make smth like CEViO talk, but Prsk has been used as media to promote upcoming Cryptonloids NT Voicebank. NT Voicebank still sounds pretty stiff, some people think it's quite difficult to handle too.
Yeah I'm 99% sure Rin keeps calling Mafuyu Mafufu in this-- unless my ears deceive me or something.
Mitchie M doing talkloid would be amazing. Tho I think actually just hiring the VAs for the vocaloids would’ve been even better lol
@@ma.2089 they used to do that during Project Diva series (in the opening scene). Still, just like I said before, Project Sekai is used as media to promote Cryptonloids NT upcoming voicebanks by showing their developments in-game. Iirc the other reason maybe because they don't want to change how they sound, especially Miku (they used recordings from older voicebank instead of retaking new voices for them after moving from Vocaloid to make their own Synth). The development is still lack of improvement, contrary to their statement, Luka also sounds really different from her V2 and V4x voicebank.
Also, this game showcasing the concept of meeting and singing with Virtual Singers, which I think the main selling point of this game. Sometimes I think they still executed it poorly despite after 3,5+ years of proseka, especially if they want to introduce their new voicebank
