One thing i've really come to appreciate with these leader dinobot figures is that they're just big chunky robots. like other leader figures feel a little small and finicky but these just have an awesome hand feel to them
Wheelie and Daniel are seeing who can do wall sits the longest
There's an upgrade kit for the TF 86 Wheelie that, I think, greatly improves upon him.

Do your transformers suffer from projectile dysfunction, premature de-blooshulation, or other simmilar embarrassing conditions? They might need third party accessories. Third party axcessories offer the play features you want at prices you can't afford.

The only reason they changed his name is because "Slag" is a bad word in the UK.

sludge is coming out in august.August. but definitely need to continue the line and give us snarl and swoop. I have these two Dinobots and I like them way more than the rest of the 86 line.

I also appreciate the more cartoon accurate gold pieces on these dinos but I miss the shiny gold metallic paint of the originals. Like Iron Grenadiers Destro’s dome 🤓
It’s absolutely astonishing how much better his bot mode looks than any past iteration of slug, but ESPECIALLY the potp one. I hated his potp design and look on that figure, but now he’s one of the coolest looking autobot designs. Heck yeah.
Have you tried moving up the red piece connected to his lower jaw? That might keep his head in place
Yknow, I always thought the dino-rider line of toys was cool. Surprised that hasn't been re-imagined like everything else nowadays.
there was a set of mini dino riders released this year and there was a cheap toy line that was exclusive to walmart a few years ago that was kinda dino riders

Daniel's helmet is fogged because he's clenching, in desperate need of a toilet, and he let off a squeaker that he didn't vent in time! Thus his helmet is fogged up and he'd gagging and choking on his own exhaust blast!
Please, someone 3-D print a small toilet for EmGo to display this little Daniel figure on! LOL!
Someone already did a toilet for Wheelie, so one could easily repurpose that

Seeing how the Studio Series '86 line is gong to remake all of the Dinobots from the original animated movie, I have a feeling they'll preview a Snarl once for a set of figures in the "Escape from Autobot City" scene, and we may never see him again.

I prefer Slug to Slag, because a) it still refers to hot metal, b) it also refers to a bullet, and c) it ALSO also refers to the act of punching someone in the face, which is something Slug seems to enjoy doing at every opportunity.
A slug is also a metal disk you remove from electrical junction boxes so you can run wires into and out of it.
Cool, similar to rhinox, think I’m saying it right. I need more room . I’m getting into collecting toy lines from my childhood. I was big into building custom cars. But I was recently partially paralyzed. Found toys therapeutic. Just completed gi joes. Super 7s dropped some cool ones. I have a few transformers. I need more!

Why would you make the horns hollow like that.....
Yeah, I can foresee an upgrade kit for this figure coming that gives Slag full horns, a golden gun or other filler piece to complete the tail and store the gun in another way, and possibly new articulated limbs for Daniel.
EDIT - oh, and a little insert piece for the chestplate the head can rest on.
i really hope they drop the companion gimmick and just give them their damn swords >=[

2:01, My 9 year old self would probably see it as a subtle way to imagine the robotic element of his physiology(other than the obvious parts, I know). The same reason i like He-Man's robot ally or some of the Bots Masters.
Finally Dinobots in bot mode that tower over other figures like in the cartoon. Need to start saving up and get my hands on Grimlock and Slag.

i got this figure this week too =) i love this figure. he is nice and big and beefy! Awesome review as always. As far as getting him at walmart... good luck lol they can barely stock their own exclusive Netflix brand and i have never seen a leader class at Walmart either.
While Wheelie was disappearing due to lack of articulation and other things, it was still kinda neat having him sit on Grimlock, and the dino stuff hid a lot of the hollowness. This Daniel is so cheap looking it visibly detracts from both modes
How is it the whole country has these new figures at target but central MD ?
Kid's got a good head on his shoulders and knows how to keep it there, traits of a good leader.
If they are consistent with the size and scale of these '86 series dinobots, they're gonna have to push Sludge out as an enhanced Leader Class!!

I don’t have any Dinobots but I think this will be my first. Both modes are fantastic.
Great review & great figure that is MP-esq! I would've preferred they also gave him a sword & rocket launcher instead of Daniel. Hasbro is so hit & miss with accessories! But it definitely looks like the Slag I always wanted (never liked the G1 version)!

The faceless Daniel includes here reminds me of the Doctor Who library episode with the shadow creatures. (Side note: To Doctor Who fans, I'm being vague on purpose.) And the line, "Who turned out the lights?"

u can still push down the (dino)head further in the cavity in robot mode maybe that helps. i dont have that issue with mine
So the next Dinobot for this Studio series will be Sludge to complete the trio from G1!!!!

I think Rodsuper was referencing the original trio. Swoop and Snarl were introduced in a later episode after all.

I'm super excited to get Slag here and the rest of the SS86 Dinobots, but I'm also really hoping they do redeco'd versions in the G1 toy/Marvel comic colors. I like my Slag with red horns and eyes, and black robot mode head. I'll double-dip on the whole damn line if they give me Marvel comic redecos, apparently...
Hope we get the rest of the dinobots in this studio series.

I don't spoil myself like most of TFW likes to, so the first time I saw that leg transformation I couldn't help but think how _genius_ that is.
Going to take a while before I get my pre-order of the big guy but I can wait.
They’ve been doing a pretty good job so far with the SS86 Dinobots with Grimlock & Slug, so it’d be interesting to see the rest of them.
The only downside is that, because I didn’t grow up with the original cartoon, I feel something is missing seeing these Dinobots with no option to become Volcanicus. On the other hand that’s fine because they’ve still yet to make a good Combiner toy that doesn’t step on the toes of the components alt modes, robot modes, and combiner limb modes.
I want this so bad. Fingers crossed for a UK Re release
Emgo, do you for see Studio 86 Series rolling out the rest of the Dinobot lineup? I think it would be a mistake not to have released of Swoop, Sludge and Snarl(or whatever their names were changed to because of licensing mumbo jumbo)?

A deluxe-class Slash and a leader-class Scorn would be nice releases in Kingdom or something to compliment these SS86 Dinobots. (It would also be nice to finally get a Paddles figure, but that is extremely unlikely)

I've put the potp slash with Grimlock. It looks good. We wont get a deluxe slash because it's the SS86 movie figures.

Hey Emgo. Would one of those tiny self starting screws from a pair of old cheap sunglasses screw in to the flat spot on the head panel facing forward? If it would maybe screw one all the way in so there is just a little of the screw sticking out and it will maybe foop under the chest piece.
Do you think they will release the remaining 2 dinobots? Or they will stop for the trio based on dinobots first appearance??

the back panel wasn't so fragile feeling,
and the tail could secure more.
