@@ACKSWOODPASTE hey Tom, thanks for stopping by. I'm sure you're going to enjoy that Rikon bandsaw, mine has taken everything I've thrown at it like a champ! I'll get some work featuring your product out shortly, I've been in a slump. Works been beating me down, hope all is good on your end of things.
Thank you sir! I bought one yesterday and found your vid this am. You just confirmed I made the correct choice! I won't say what lathe came in second since I have a shop full of their other machines and don't want to ruffle any feathers :).
🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watching and glad I could help some! I've been really happy with mine and was surprised the machine was able to handle everything i threw at it. Best of luck with it!
Hey Ray, I'm just watching your video now and as soon as you mentioned you were getting a Oneway 24/36 I knew you were on the right track. That's a man's lathe for sure. I have the Oneway 16/40 with outboard extension that allows me to turn 24" diameter. I have no issues at all. I turn almost exclusively outboard and have that machine bolted to the floor. Trust me, you won't regret the 24/36. I'm guessing you're about 3hrs from their factory here in Ontario. I live an hour away from the Oneway factory in Stratford so I can get their accessories in person (I bought my lathe from them directly). Good luck man.
Thanks bud I appreciate the feedback on Oneway lathes. This one will be well used, the original owner was the president of a turning club in Ann Arbor Michigan. I'm excited it kills me to haul off giant logs to then have to break it down to small stock for a midi lathe. Happy New Years!
@@RayApodaca-DacaTimberworks I met a fellow turner who lives about 3hrs from me and he has the 24/36 and he has made some serious coin with that machine. It's a beast for sure. Like I said, if you need parts, they aren't far away. Happy New Year to you too, Ray
@brianthomas4686 our club mentor turned some massive baseball bats for the Detroit Tigers stadium with his 2436 and 5ft extension. Imagine having that on your turning resume lol!
I bought the Rikon 1420 about 4 months ago. It's my second lathe and I love it. I mainly turn boxes so it's perfect. I added an 3 extensions, one on each spot. I want to add a second banjo to the extension that comes off the side, 90° to the ways for doing behind bowls. It's a little lathe with big lathe features. My only complaint was on the lower door to access the belt it hit the provided bolts for the stand. I'm very happy with this purchase.
@jeffpeters6561 that's awesome! How do you like that extension coming off perpendicular to the bedways, it seems like interesting idea. Having a second banjo for it is a great idea for saving time for sure!
@RayApodaca-DacaTimberworks I put one on the rear just to put a magnetic dish for drill and lathe chuck keys. I didn't like the dish on top of the headstock.
I started with a 12” Rikon lathe. My only knock on it was I kept bumping the on/off switch with my leg. As I got more comfortable, I found I couldn’t hog out material, and wanted a larger lathe. Rikon had the 14”, so not enough of an upgrade. Like you, there was a budget. I chose the 18/36 Laguna. Kick myself for selling the Rikon, but cash was important. Hope you get the Oneway. It is an incredible machine
@scottmedori1437 yeah, selling tools is always hard. If i had the room in my garage i would still have my HF lathe. I know several turners in our club who like their 18" Revos. I'm excited for the Oneway, it's been rode hard but that's OK, I'm rough on my tools anyways, I don't have any shelf or safe queens lol!

@brianthomas4686 yeah very cool, our club president goes over and turns Bo-Staffs on it for martial artists.

@RayApodaca-DacaTimberworks I do, and I don't think it gets in the way.
@@jeffpeters6561 awesome, i might look into it on my own and try it out. I no longer need the outboard turning one so I can relocate it.
