I like this one! Those kid actors are so cute! And Freddie's vocals are excellent as always. More poignant & thought provoking songs towards those latter times. Queen was a united front and a musical force to be reckoned with...Yes, that was our Freddie there for sure!

This song was written by John and Freddie, not just Freddie.
Around this time particularly Freddie didn't want to go out on the town, preferring to stay in the studio.
John tended to stay with him and subsequently a few songs came out of it. This was one of them

  • @rockledgeln
    @rockledgeln 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Freddie Mercury - lead singer, piano, guitar; Brian May - guitar, keyboard, piano, backup singer; Roger Taylor - drums, backup singer; John Deacon - bass. All 4 wrote hit songs.

I think Brian says it all in this interview quote:
"What is your favorite song written by Freddie?
Brian - "Probably ‘The Miracle,’ “It has an incredible lightness, and he wrote it at a time when it must have been very hard for him to be optimistic and light. There’s just such a wonderful transparency to the way it’s recorded and the lyrics have a great whimsy to them. But also a serious overtone. I love that song."

Thank you for being authentic and making my days happier during this time with Freddie and Queen! Blessings and love. 😘

Yes, of course the real band Queen came out in the end. Freddie looked different, but that is nothing compared to some later videos where is illness was beyond painful to even shoot. It's painful to watch, yet so full of love. The beard growth was to cover lesions from the mark of AIDS. This video is a huge favorite! Queen was so creative with their video ideas. I know that we are doing the last years of Freddie's life in Queen, and although very fitting for the times, I would love to go on a hope filled journey from the start of Queen. Their sound was so revolutionary, and that music should also be heard in order to grasp the magnitude of the later years. I highly suggest White Queen at the Odeon Hammersmith and You Take My Breath Away at Hyde Park. Thanks as always Faith! Every day I look forward to your videos, especially during this crisis!

    • @fryke

Yes, but I'd also suggest to do studio versions and live versions right after each other for both of those thongs. Plus March of the Black Queen, of course. (And so many, many more...)

@@fryke For YTMBA, I think it's better to watch the Live at Hyde Park version first, partly because it came first chronologically, before the studio recording was completed, and partly because it's so much better, IMO. I feel that listening to the more complex, layered studio version might muddy the earwaves - better to hear the beautiful, raw, pure thing first. Kind of like not having a very rich dish at the beginning of a meal...
Sorry, I'm not explaining it very well, and of course, YMMV. :-)

Yes, 100% agree with your comments. We seem to be going all over the place chronologically, so far, having missed out the foundations... Everyone has their favourite musical era, of course (along with its accompanying Freddie 'look'!) and a lot of people only really know the later music and look. I connect more with the earlier stuff, when they were so young and beautiful and ambitious, just trying to make it... that's how I remember them anyway, and now it touches my heart to see them again, and hear them.

🌟When John and Freddie join forces, then magic happens... Deacury ❤️❤️
🌟Freddie here is totally ill having only two years of life... My beautiful angel, his health started quickly to deteriorate in just two years since 1987 after, this is 1989... You have to see the other 3 videos (I want it All, Breakthrough and Scandal) to have a clue...
🌟I told you before that This song talks about life and all the beautiful miracles small and great that happen in the world when in reality, Freddie was desperately waiting for his own miracle, the cure that never came...
The video even with the funny & positive vibes with the kids, gets me hard... We see the both sides of the coin... A young kid that has a whole life to live and Freddie whose his own, is a matter of time to end...The future and the past... 😭😭
If you see the pics of the video, you'll understand...
Freddie's tearful look holding the mini-me Freddie, just breaks my heart... 💔💔

Yes Faith, sadly that was our dear, sweet Freddie and the rest of the band members at the end with their Mini Me’s. Freddie’s health stopped him from performing their new songs live and touring, but they continued to make music and videos for the fans. It’s heartbreaking to see Freddie as his health declined, but is TRULY AMAZING that even though he was SO ill, his voice NEVER faltered and neither did his desire to keep making more music for as long as he possibly could. Brian, Roger and John really tightened ranks for their brother and worked hard to keep giving him music all the while they protected him from the horrible press and paparazzi who HOUNDED Freddie to the point he was pretty much a prisoner in his own home. I absolutely LOVE the way Roger, Brian and John did everything they could to keep Freddie going and to protect him from all the crap reporters. To me it showed how much they TRULY WERE FAMILY! I believe continuing to make music and having a purpose is actually what helped Freddie to last as long as he did. Brian said in an interview that Freddie told him, “ Keep writing me stuff, keep giving me stuff and as long as I am able to do it I will. When I’m gone you can do whatever you want to with it.” How brave is that? The very last song Freddie recorded is Mother Love. Brian said that he would do 3 takes of each part so that they could work with what they had. The song was almost complete and Freddie was tired and said he needed to have a rest and would come back to finish it, but sadly he never was able to. Brian finished the last part of the singing for Freddie. It’s a beautiful song and quite eerie and heartbreaking when you get to the part where you hear Brian’s voice because you know that Freddie is gone!😢 Glad to see you are doing so much better and also glad to see your spirits up. Keep letting Freddie and Queen be your medicine for the soul. Hugs friend♥️

      Oh my dear...!!!
The Miracle is an unexpected song...., is amazing and talented... Freddie puts the best of himself .. nearly to death...
✨ An you’re right, “Mother love” was his last tape recording, but he couldn’t finish... was Brian who sang the last verses.
✨ “These are the days of our lives”, was his last video, which he finished looking us directly into the eyes, and saying “I still love you”.
✨ And “A Winter’s Tale," was the last song Freddie wrote, whose official video shows Freddie's handwriting.
This song was inspired by the beauty of winter at the Lac Leman, in Montreux, Switzerland .., where he was recording and stayed until three weeks before he returned to London ... to die, on November 24, 1991.
“The hardest track to record was probably 'A Winters Tale' for emotional and technical reasons. The singing was done over two weeks , every two days some rest for Freddie and then waiting for him to be well enough to come and sing a little bit more again.”
Palabras de David Richards, productor de los últimos albums de QUEEN, en Montreux.

He IS a Legend and is so sorely missed. How incredibly lucky are we to have TH-cam and the internet to be able to witness what amazing God-given talent, compassion, drive, determination, generosity, humor and love that was Freddie Mercury, for without it this generation and the next and the next would possibly never know what a Legend Freddie Mercury truly was. RIP Sweet, beautiful soul. You are so missed♥️

I always envy those lucky lucky kids! I loved it when the real band members came out standing beside the kids like proud daddies! Its sort of a mini tour of the different looks Freddie took on over Queen's history. The long hair and harlequin catsuit was in the early to mid 70's, up till '77, the leather biker look was in the late 70's, the iconic 1985 Live aid look and the yellow military jacket he wore after. Guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor did a series of music audio commentaries some years ago and their talk about the Miracle was too cool and hilarious. th-cam.com/video/8GV829zwpBk/w-d-xo.html Another music video they made with a kid is "The invisible man" which also mentions each band member by name. Thank you so much for reacting to this video! Your reaction in the beginning when you realized little Freddie was not big Freddie was priceless!!!!! This song was written by Freddie and John (Deaky). Freddie maintained such a positive spirit despite the death sentence he was living under. As someone else shared, there is a video about the making of not only this but of all the videos from "The Miracle" album. Oh, and Freddie was a good ping pong player! 😂🤣😂🤣
There were an extensive casting call for the kids in this video. The one who played little Freddie is Ross McCall. He went on to a professional acting career. One of his more notables roles was a lead part in HBO's miniseries "Band of Brothers". Anyway, Ross said he studied Freddie's movements so he could capture how Freddie performed on stage. The members of Queen were really impressed with their performance and Freddie jokingly said they should send the kids out on tour.
I agree with the recommendation from another comment to react to "Friends Will Be Friends", another upbeat and happy Queen song.

Freddie was dying. That was the second to the last album he did with Queen while he was alive. He grew a beard to cover the cancers that were removed from his face due to the aids advancing. Song sounds a little different, but at the time in Freddie’s life I suppose he was doing a lot of reflecting. It was a beautiful song Freddie wrote regarding all the miracles in nature in spite of the hell he was personally going through.

What a beautiful Queen song. Always love it! Yes, that was Freddie at the end. He was pretty damn sick by this point, so he definitely looked different. Still incredibly handsome but a little rough. Anytime you see the beard, you know the song was at the end of his career as he grew it to cover up the kaposi sarcoma marks. I think all of that makes the song even sweeter, though. Despite how sick he was, Freddie still saw a LOT of beauty in the world and I think that's really inspiring. 💛 BTW, would love to see a reaction to Scandal! It's another from this time and is one of my all-time favorites. It's SO underappreciated! It's a Brian composition inspired by the media response due to his affair and Freddie's sickness and you can really feel his emotion in it. Powerful, raw, and despite it all, incredibly catchy. And God, you'll love his guitar solo and Freddie's vocals.

Faith they used kids as you see, very clever & positive song. They all thought this would be Freddie’s last album. Instead we were given so much more music with innuendo & then “made in heaven,” which the band did after he died. They used the recordings they had made together with Freddie’s vocals & in most cases composed whole songs around the “bits and pieces, the words” Brian wrote for Freddie to sing.

"The Miracle" is the fifth and final single from Queen's 1989 studio album of the same name.
The idea for the song came from Freddie Mercury and John Deacon, who wrote the basic chord structure for the song.
All four band members contributed to the lyrics and musical ideas, and the song was still credited to the entire band because they had agreed to do so during the album's recording, regardless of who had been the actual writer.
While both Mercury and May regarded this as one of their favorites songs, Roger Taylor said in the audio commentary of Greatest Video Hits II that although it was not a favorite of his, he respected it as "an incredibly complex track".
The song describes several of "God's creations, great and small", such as great buildings like the Golden Gate Bridge, Taj Mahal and the Tower of Babel, all described as "miracles" in the song, yet the one miracle "we're all waiting for" is "peace on Earth and an end to war." The song also references such well-known figures as Captain Cook, Cain and Abel, and Jimi Hendrix.
The music video for the song features four young boys performing as Queen on stage: Paul Howard as Brian May, James Currie as John Deacon, Adam Gladdish as Roger Taylor, and a then-unknown Ross McCall as Freddie Mercury.
Throughout the video, McCall appears as four different incarnations of Mercury: 1977 Freddie (long hair with a one-piece black and white spandex leotard), 1978-1979 Freddie (police uniform with leather jacket, and although he is portrayed with a moustache in the video, Freddie never wore his police uniform with his moustache), Live Aid 1985 Freddie (white tank top, adidas shoes, jeans), and 1986 Freddie (Iconic yellow jacket with track pants) Queen themselves appear only near the end of the video.
It was filmed at Elstree Studios, London, in November 1989. According to Roger Taylor, Freddie joked about sending the boys out on tour instead of them because of how well they did in the video.

That was Freddie. Unfortunately, that was after his diagnosis when the AIDS effects started showing. 😢😢😢
But can we take a minute to appreciate how on point little Freddie was!? 😂😂😂

Far from it. He had two more years to live here. The last song Freddie wrote was Winter's Tale.

@@sannaolsson9106 he sang for 2 more years, mostly Brian's songs. I believe this was the last FM song 🎶

@@GwenCossin Again, no, Winter's Tale is the last song he wrote. He also wrote Delilah after this one and I'm Going Slightly Mad.

Co-written yes, but Brian and John said FM brought The Miracle to them nearly complete. The others you mentioned are beautiful collaborations.

@@GwenCossin Freddie wrote Delilah himself. And def Winter's Tale, that's just a fact. He wrote it after he got the inspiration from looking at the view from his window in his apartment in Montreux. It's s well known fact that that song is indeed the last one he wrote.

Not a favorite song of mine - but def. a favorite video - those kids are AWESOME - and the fact that they let them do virtually the whole song!
