    what tool do you use to crimp the hog rings?

      @@keiththompson2289 Hi..great question. Tim used these Spring Assist Hog Ring Pliers. He bought them at our local tractor supply at the time. They are designed to attach the hog rings to the fence making it less of a hassle. Should be able to find them at your local home improvement store..like Tractor supply where Tim got his.

    How do you put the hog rings on? And what size did you use? 3/4"?

    Planning on using cattle panels to layer over an existing barbed wire fence to keep my dogs in.

      That will work! I hope this video helps. We have used cattle panels to build a large dog pen as well and they work great. Much cheaper than chain link fence pens. Thank you for watching!

    Great fence. What size hog rings did use sir ?

    • @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm

      When you go to the farm store, there will be three different sizes. Hog Rings, shoat rings, and pig rings. You will want to get the box that says Hog Rings. I don’t remember if there is a number on each different type of box, but the box that says hog rings is what you want. The pig rings and the shoat rings will be too small. I hope this helps.

    Did you put in all the T-post first and how far apart did you put your T-posts?

    • @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm
      @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I remember correctly the t-posts had to be spaced with one at 8ft and the next one at 7’4ft and then 8ft again and so on to line up with the up the vertical lines on the panel. If you wanted to just space them at 8ft, that would be ok too, but once in a while, you’ll get a post that will be in the middle of a square instead of lining up with the vertical wire. Thank you for watching

    They make a tool for those t post clips

    • @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm
      @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mentioned in the video that I did buy the tool made to install these fence fork clips. But the problem is that the squares on the cattle panel are too small for the fence fork tool to work correctly. The tool will work just fine on a Barbed wire fence where the wires are spaced further apart.

    How do you know what size Tpost you need?

    • @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm
      @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cattle panels are 48 inches tall. So you generally want your T post to stand about 50 inches above the ground. And you want to drive your T post into the ground anywhere from 16 inches to 24 deep. I believe I used 6 foot tall T post, which means I was driving the post into the ground about 22 inches. You may be able to get by with 5 & 1/2 foot tall T posts also.

    • @TexasRedneck
      @TexasRedneck 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm Thank you! That's what I was thinking, getting the 6ft tposts. I'm in Texas and we have the black clay soil.
      Did you use a manual Tpost pounder or did you get a motorized one?

    • @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm
      @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always just use a manual T post driver. I also built a half mile stretch of Barbwire fence on that farm and I manually drove every T post. Thanks for watching and I’m happy to answer any questions you may have.

    • @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm
      @VanLeeuwenFamilyFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It cost me a little over $800 for the cattle panels and T-Posts. I can’t tell you how many hog rings I used but they are around $3 or $4 a box. Cattle panels in my area are $24.99 which is a little higher than they were a year ago. and 6ft T-Posts are $3.79 apiece. I hope this helps.
