I'm not a big fan of the new finish. Has a kind of cheap bakelite look to it (to me). I do like the numbers/specs on the 600LC though. I would use it for heavier salmon type trolling, light jigging and hopefully live bait albacore. Either the Tekota 600LC or the Shimano Charter Special are in the running now for live bait Albacore fishing. They both look like they would work well with 15-25# mono. I use the much cheaper Shimano TR 100G and TR 200G for light Dipsy/flasher trolling (rainbow trout, lake trout and coho salmon) and they are still my go to reels for drift mooching 12-35 pound king salmon on 17-20# mono off the northern California coast. Haven't lost a big salmon yet. The light reels work the best here because the kings are often chased by large California sea lions when you hook them. They have to be able to outrun the sea lions while being hooked. The guys with the beefier reels soon find out what happens when you overpower or try to winch in the salmon and end up with a 500 pound "fur bag" busting you off instead.

How well do you think this reel will do when fishing for seabass in 300ft of water with sinkers up to 16oz

It has held up great, no issues.
@@topsecretfishing6339 you think dropping 8oz lead weight at 130ft would be a problem for this reel? setting the hook on a 6/0 7/0 hook.
