Is "Introduction to Logic" by I. Copi a good book to read or not the time worth it will take to read? (If you know the book.)

Pardon me for (I hope, helpfully) butting in. I'd recommend 'Logic for Mathematicians' by Hamilton; it's the clearest presentation of propositional and predicate logic I know of. (I don't know about Copi's 'Intro to Logic'.)

In Non-Specific statements you gave the example of Ap&Bp and in Non-Specific statement functions you gave the example of Ax&Bx. Sorryy I just don't understand the difference. Like by non-specific statement do you mean a statement on its own like Ax? Also by non-specific do you mean these statements and statement functions can represent anything?

The difference is that Fa is applying a formula to a particular individual a, while Fx is applying a formula to an unquantified variable. a is a particular like and apple, while x is a variable that needs a quantifier to make sense.

I just purchased a book on Artificial Intelligence. Tell me what are some practical applications of AI!

lanre Mabogunje Practical applications? It seems that if computers have consciousness, and are smarter than us that we are horribly ethically corrupt to simply take apart and discard them when we want a new one. If computers do in fact have consciousness, then if it is consciousness, not simply human consciousness that we ethically value, then everyone that owns a computer is part and parcel to the most systematic and complete instance of slavery and genocide of human history. Here are some arguments about whether or not computers have consciousness. th-cam.com/play/PLz0n_SjOttTdUVuUqefi6dWabDOynPu8x.html
