I love the final pathway Waylon walks through after he outlived Gluskin, where the hallways are empty of any patient, and you can see the sun beam. Every once in a while I watch these walkthroughs. They are so nostalgic.
For those who are curious, Eddie Gluskin is heavily based on Ed Gein. A man from Wisconsin who was arrested for murdering two women and grave robbing bodies in 1957. Gluskin butchering his victims is a reference to how Gein cut up the bodies he dug up to make furniture and clothing made from various female body parts. The way the bodies hang from the ceiling in the gym is a direct reference to Gein’s last victim, who police found hanging upside down naked and gutted like a deer and missing her head. Gein was declared legally insane and spent the rest of his life in a mental asylum until his death. Gluskin and Gein have similar backgrounds, having been abused and never finding a woman to be with. However, Gein was never sexually abused and was instead emotionally controlled by his strictly religious mother as opposed to being raped by his father and uncle like Gluskin. However, both of their mothers had taught them to never have sex with a woman until marriage. Last thing to mention is that that Gluskin looks extremely similar to Gein, having similar facial expressions and smiles. The only difference being that Gluskinis significantly taller and strongly built, towering over Gein who was of average height with a skinnier build. Red Barrel’s always tended to be creative with who they inspired their characters from.
