I havent watched one of your videos in awhile and thats because my now 4 year old is doing much better. All the activities, tips, and tricks have helped me so much. I just takes things as they come and just come here to find a solution on your channel. My son went from grunting and a lot of babbling to saying 5-6 word sentences, engaging in more conversation, he just offcially learned how to spell his first name. I just wanted to stop by and say Thank you!
Oh man, I am so sorry to hear that~! Luckily, YOU can totally be the therapist! :)Hang in there and thanks for watching! age 2 is that critical development period so keep up the good work!
You can tell this women works very hard and is really good at what she does. Thank you for all this information I need this channel. My son needs me to need this channel lol. I love you. Thank you. ❤
The relationship society has with food today and the fact that we don't know how to cook anymore is the major problem with our kids being picky eaters and therefore, developing different health complications. Every time we try to cook, we are constantly looking for new ways to add good taste to our foods, but unfortunately we are not able to achieve this without the use of artificial seasonings. Today, I'm not surprised that kids have a weird relationship with food. There's a great story behind each food and recipe that we don’t know about, and actually this could be the way to catch kids' interest to eat better, by understanding what and why they eat it. Remember, the first thing a kid does to food is to touch it and smell it before deciding to eat. I'm a food specialist and I do the exact same thing before I choose to work with a new product. I put it in the palm of my hand and feel the skin and the weight, then I smell it to make sure it's ripe enough, if there's no smell, well that tells me there won't be any taste or very acidic.
I cook but my adopted son has a problem eating due to past trauma so getting him to eat or even come close to trying food is very very hard so NO not everything has to do with what you said sorry...
I love your videos. I wish I could be like you to help my toddler. I just sound very annoying when I try the things you say. I don’t sound so cheerful and excited.
new subscriber here i hope i knew tour yt long time ago i have non verbal asd and very picky ater since he was young hoping for more videos to come god bless you fro sharing your knowledge
Thank you for the videos. My son has autism and other disorders including feeding issues.I’m going to try some of these techniques next week.thanks again🙏
Amazing! I just love your tips! I can't wait to try them on my 2yo daughter. I'm thankful for your examples too. I'm not as energetic as you, but your fun way of saying pEAchES just gives me about 5% of that energy that I can implement with my child.😁🍑
Thank you so much for posting your videos. They’re very helpful. I started the speech hand cues with my little one and he is starting to make new sounds. 🙂 I was wondering if you could please do another video on introducing foods. I have an 18 month old who doesn’t eat or drink. He’s exclusively tube fed. He shows interest and is constantly putting non-edibles in his mouth. He also enjoys crunchy foods but he keeps choking on them and he has a hard time with baby purées or the net feeder. I will put three small dots of baby food on his tray and he’ll start retracting. Any ideas? Is it really just not forcing, continued exposure, and repetition? Thank you.
Hey there!! Does he still use the bottle / pacifier? If so, This can cause a suckle reflex to continue instead of the suck & the tongue will continue to thrust forward making it difficult to chew, hence choking. Use highly dissolvable solids & purées on top if possible! Check out @eatsayplay on Instagram as well!!
Thank you so much for these videos. Do you have any suggestions for developing language with a toddler who has a tracheostomy? He is also autistic and can wear a cap and passy valve.
Hi! What would be your advice on an exclusively breastfed toddler who cries every time food is place in front of them? There’s no issues with not being able to swallow my baby just looks at foods even purées like its a scary thing
what is your opinion to teach sign language? I don't recall that you have any video on that topic. Our SLP highly focused on sign language with combining sign words into sentences, but I am not really sure that we are going to right direction especially with the fact that my kid probably has CAS. but she is only 2. And I cannot switch my SLP to someone else bc demand is so high and there is a huge waitlist, and I'd say that I am lucky that I have what I have.....
Hmmm I don’t think it’s a bad approach per say, I think she may just be trying to focus on improving the most functional form of communication so that your little one can communicate the most effective & quick way; however, with that being said, if a child is vocal, I usually stick with improving focalization & then just add in signs as needed. But everyone is different. Maybe just have a chat with her?
I peel the blueberry skin and he eats it readily. The same with cherries. He thinks it is inedible and spits out if it has skin. He ate cucumbers when was a baby. But after stopping it for months, he spits them out.
Will this work with my 13 year old stepson as well? I’ve been parenting him for 7 years now and his palate has gotten better but I’m still finding it difficult. Our home is European/Filipino-Mexican and he often turns up his nose to anything that isn’t processed stereotypical White American food (nuggets, fries, burgers). It makes me sad to see he doesn’t eat any Mexican food despite being half. Perhaps it’s my perception but he seems to look down on anything that isn’t stereotypically American white. I’ve successfully had him like an Irish dish from my grandma which is good and a few other Asian dishes however… It makes me feel concerned when he says “ugh you know I don’t like beans, rice” when he barely even gives it a chance. He says we’re being abusive and not understanding. It’s a fight every dinner. Perhaps I’m insensitive but is feeding him beans really emotionally abusive? I don’t want to serve him pizza, pancakes, burgers and nuggets everyday because that’s how his other household is. I don’t want him to be ashamed of his heritage and only eat one or two spoonfuls of rice or beans and say he won’t eat anymore until I serve him pizza. I feel so sad and depressed. I don’t enjoy bringing so much processed food in the house because he throws a tantrum. I just want to spend time with him. I only get to spend time with him 4 days out of the month. He’ll usually spend 4-8 hours not talking to me or grunting.
I realized that he doesn’t eat if I offer it once or twice. I even do it at the same time many many times and eventually he gives up. Funny, that he opens his mouth really big and swallows almost without swallowing when at daycare, when he takes his time and opens his mouth very small. He sits still on his stool in daycare, while at home he likes to watch ipad or play with toys when eating.
I've been working weekly with an occupational therapist for my son since he was 5 months old. He is now 18 months old and nothing has helped. He has had feeding aversions since he was only 5 weeks old. He also has extremely sensitive gag reflex. He gags and vomits daily and is under the first percentile in weight. None of the tips have helped and I don't know what else I can do. He has finally started wanting the bottle and is no longer vomiting at the site of the bottle but the OT wants me to take away the bottle now and it's his only source of caleries/ nourishmentthat he gets. I cannot get him to take a different cup and when I tried for 24hrs to not give the bottle he literally did not eat the whole day. He refused everything that I offered. I cannot just stop the bottles because of this. It's very scary and frustrating especially because he is my 4th child and i have never had something like this happen with one of my other children. I wish some of these tips would have worked. I am still looking for a way to help him.
