Buying Dried Fish In Estancia | Iloilo | Philippines

Estancia is known for its abundance of fish. Fresh fish comes by boat everyday through the Estancia port. In the 70s, they started giving the town the nickname "Alaska of the Philippines." They also produced dried fish here for distribution to Manila and other towns in Iloilo. The quality of dried fish here is better than most fishing places. I used to come here a lot as a little boy and now I'm glad to be back and do the buying by myself.

Hindi ko masabi na mas maganda pero noong 60s, 70s ang Estancia ang Alaska of the Philippines. Diyan ako lumaki kaya biased ako. Ang experience ko lahat maganda sa Estancia.

Thank you for your comments. My family originated from Capiz and I've been to Lutodlutod. It's pretty much the same scenario but for me Estancia is special because that's where I used to do this when I was little. Me too, I always miss the uga and pinakas kag lokos. Even the fresh fish is amazing. It's nice to relive those things that we did when we were in the Philippines. Greetings from Florida.
