How to Pose in Pictures | Instagram Photos
I am not a model (I’m 5’1 ). But as Instagram is growing so are the amount of photos we take. I’ve posted Instagram photos almost every day for the past 400+ days! These are some of my posing techniques on how to look amazing in every picture. Also a few on how to look taller and slimmer in photos.

Everytime I ask someone to take a picture of me, I always feel awkward because I mostly don't know how to pose. I'm glad to hear these tricks, I'll definitely try them out. Thank you Bethany ❤
The person taking should also make you feel comfortable or not awkward. They need to talk to you. Tell you ideas om what to do. You'll be at ease. Posing will come naturally if you two indulge rather than you standing there not knowing whether they took the pic or not... Etc.... Point is yiu two need to talk to avoid that awkwardness of someone really concentrating on you
For those who want a list of all the tips
GENERAL TIPS
1. Stand up straight
2. Keep limbs away from your body (arms away from torso, legs separate)
3. Create angles with your body and be loose and comfortable
4. Take the photo from a lower angle (hip height)
FACIAL EXPRESSIONS
5. Point head closer to the camera and look down (to avoid double chin)
6. Squint your eyes a little (test it out)
7. Be careful with the duckface (instead: smirk)
8. Smirking: just think “I’m happy” instead of looking evil
9. Don’t smile too wide, smile kindly
POSES
10. 7:27 (weight in back foot with other leg bent and leaning back a little)
11. Dainty hands (play with your nails)
12. Legs further apart and toes pointed at an angle inward
13. Hold a bag to occupy your hands and go complete the look
14. Create a Z shape (10:45)
15. Play with your hair
One extra tip I have: when positioning your hands, pretend like the area your touching is in pain (basically touch the area softly and lightly). This will make your hand positioning look much more dainty and cute
I a,ways say never look straight at the camera too. Look down. Look off, laugh a little while looking off

I like the idea of taking a picture of yourself everyday, just to figure out what you look like, how to good yourself and what colors look good on you. I generally don't look at myself and this would be a great way for me to start practicing looking at myself.
I think this is one of the most helpful posing videos I've seen. I feel like posing for pictures make me look too posed but your tips/poses look so natural! Have a great vacation!

The limbs away from body tip is gold. Sometimes super candid is great for me because I look like a regular happy person and not totally awkward. Some of my favourite photos are when I had no idea someone was taking the photo until the last minute (like the one in my profile pic) .
Another good tip for awkward me is to take them when I'm with my nieces. I always look happier and more carefree. These regular photo tips though are awesome. Thank you so much.
I think I'll have to take my photo regularly and try to look more natural. I normally look weird and awkward unless the photo is candid.

I like it when u say u like to imagine tht there's a "string thts pulling you up" to have a good posture. That works for me!
Shelly Nd where is the string attached? Head or shoulders? I grew tall to fast so I could never adjust my posture I walk around like I have no back bones

I always have to focus on keeping my eyes wide open actually, because I noticed that when I smile, I naturally tend to close my eyes halfway, which looks cute in real life (i've been told...) but extremely awkward in photos. But really awesome tips. they help a lot.

As a photographer I would like to give a tip to sometimes have ur finger show when u up then i ur hip in front or wherever it is have ur fingers naturally apart. You don’t always have to do this as it depends on the pose be it does help with more angles and can look more a legacy.

Truth! Taking an outfit photo every day was the biggest help when I started revamping my style. You become used to how you look in photos as well as different clothes which can help you stay a bit more objective when deciding whether or not to keep a new piece of clothing.

thanks for the tips! I agree, camera at hip height is good, so are props. a stool or chair can work well, if you're sitting on the edge it helps create angles with your legs. also, looking down or to one side makes a nice neck line.
