The physical copies of Murderbot diaries in Australia are so so expensive both the paperbacks and the hardcovers too . Then again all physical books in Australia are now stupidly expensive . It does make sense that possibly they are just wanting folks to purchase the e book versions for some reason .
You're absolutely right about the prices. They're way too high for such basic covers and in most cases such short stories. It's especially painfully ironic because these books are supposed to be...about how capitalism is bad.... When I was still in school, I remember you could buy a paperback book, brand new from Borders, that was probably 4 inches thick for $10, with 3 full length novels in it...
They are exremely expensive, and while I understand that these prices are set by the publisher not the author, its two main reasons that cause this to irk me (apart from what I said in the video anyway). - As you rightfully pointed out, its a bit ironic considering one of the central themes of the books is that capitalism and excessive profiteering are bad - I just can't find any paperback copies anywhere. I own the first six books currently and have only been able to get All Systems Red and Network Effect as paperbacks. I don't mind expensive hardbacks but they should come as an optional expenditure for people who are serious fans of the works, with paperbacks as the basic and cheaper regular option
