So are these only at jackpots? Because I never see any Ds at nfr and stuff
Correct just at jackpots! Rodeos are a “rodeo payout” meaning only the top times are paid, no divisions.
I know this is a couple years old. We are just starting to enter our 9 year old. So I should expect 1D 2D and 3D ina 4D barrel jackpot race? Like this weekend there is a 4D jackpot with half second splits. She is new to all this. I hope you can help lol ❤️
Old barrel racer here. Are you asking if you should expect her to place in 1,2, or 3D? Honestly, depending on where yall compete, and the caliber horse she’s running, she’s probably gonna place in 3D or 4D. Not saying this in a bad way at all. But if she’s 9 and just starting out, she’ll probably need to get a lot of experience, learn her horse, etc. It’s an excellent way to start out bc you can still go and compete and maybe place, but more importantly she’s learning and gaining experience plus it’s fun!! So is it different conpotitions each D number like 1D and 4D or is it all in one and how mich can you make if you run a 4D score and I can go any speed right if I’m a bit slower I can still go or do I have to wait until I’m faster my horse is still in training
How does prize money get divided in this system?
At the sherry cervi youth barrel race they had 6D
Do they pay only for first or do they have second and third monies for each class.

I race but have only ran in time onlys because I have been to scared to put in the entry fee for a 4D race in fears of not making back the money ( still in training w my horse) but this helped me understand a lot!

Do you keep your horses in stalls? What kind of hay do you feed? I'm just curious. I just got a horse that they have always kept in the stall and just what some opinions
Hey girl! My horses are only in stalls when required at a barrel race...I have them turned out in decent sized pens at home, I like them to get to move around and be horses. I often bring my own panels when I go somewhere overnight, I find it saves some $ and I prefer to keep them close to where I'm staying! Mine are often out on grass at home too, but when I feed hay its an alfalfa grass mix :)
So you only run once right and your score is based on that time. And that time only or do you run multiple times for it just the one round right
Everybody just runs one time.
How o you k ow if you won some money or what your prize is is it hard to get a prize in 4D

Okay so I make 17/16secound runs with a good horse what d is that ? My typical horse now daisy is making 20/21 runs but my thoroughbred can be fast but he’s at trainer I’ve rode good horses and my best is 16
It depends on the arena. One arena your horse may run a 16 and the same horse run an 18 in a bigger arena. In a 4D, the fastest of all the horses sets the time. If that makes sense.
