Thanks for the doing the review!
As the maker of TEK-Slots, I agree with Jim's comment below. Both units do something similar in the end (run analog or digital cars on a Carrera digital track), but with different POU (Philosophy of Use). TEK-Slots was initially made to accommodate the casual home track racer who didn't want to mod or incur the cost of chipping analog cars. It utilized the lane chipping idea, which has some advantages like using a single set of controllers, power supply, use of Speed and Brake settings on the CU, etc., but has the disadvantage that a 1/24th decoder was sending a signal along each lane in analog. This creates caveats with running hot motors, brass chassis, potential shorts, as there is no economical way to protect the MOSFETs in the decoders.
The OmniSlotBox takes care of that shortcoming, and IMO is ideal for the serious enthusiast racer who still wants to race analog or digital on a Carrera track. The fact that I would be able to run my expensive analog controllers in analog, which I love, is a huge bonus as well. Jim's construction of the OmniSlotBox is first rate; if I could justify the cost, I would be running his unit myself.
As for whether TEK-Slot will return, that's hard to say. Supply chain issues are getting slightly better, but with the cost of many parts increasing as well. Also, as I stated above, there is a bit of a ceiling with lane chipping, and to better protect the decoders is cost-prohibitive for the POU mentioned. So I have not committed to returning to production yet (I've enjoyed not working in my basement every night after my full time job too!). I may however do limited quarterly runs in 2023 - we'll see.

You should make them again and don't be afraid of adding more protection at an increased price. People in this hobby will pay, believe me!

Thanks for the review! We agree if you will only run "home set" cars like Carrera, Scalextric an others with similar motors. TekSlots is great. Those motors have peak draw up under .75 amps. Vintage and commercial cars can draw a much as 8.00 amps peak. the decoder ships cannot keep up causing the cars to run poorly and decoders can overheat. With OmniSlotBox, the two systems are completely separated electrically. It runs Analog in the traditional way, but with much more robust hardware and power delivery. When running OmniSlotBox in Digital, everything is normal, when running Analog, you must use analog controllers. Our tracks have 6 digital and 2 analog controllers hooked up at all times. Any Carrera compatible for Digital and any analog compatible for analog will do. This a good news for analog guys who love their sophisticated controllers, but really any analog controller will do.

Thank-you. We have been enjoying the prototype system immensely for years. We are happy to have made it practical for any one to easily install and use.

Which system are you using? Hard to accept as a quality review on "research" only. Would love to hear a firsthand experience between the two.

Both of the creator of the omnibox and the creator of the tekslot box have commented on the video saying it was a fair review. Feel free to reply to either of them with questions. I use track call buttons from tekslots but I don't race analog.

Hi guys I was wondering if there is any other options out there now being that Omni box is so expensive and tek slots is no longer being made? Thanks Mark

I agree with you that omnibox is expensive but options are limited right now. You can take out the digital components and use the analog power base. That's all I know of at the moment but look for videos in the future when new options arrive.

But the TekSlots has been out-of-stock everywhere for a long time. I think it was discontinued.

Once supply chains get back to normal tekslots might come back. People might also be able to find them second hand. We felt this video comparing the two was still relevant.

So will slotit, sideways, revo, thunderslot cars run on tekslot box?

I would reply to Joseph Stanczak's comment on this video since he's the creator of tekslots and would know more than I would. Thanks for the question!
