    I love seeing the “discarded” bread crusts repurposed like that and given away, what a great idea. Add a little cinnamon too and you have something like a churro. Yum 😋 I’ve always wanted to try CC Lemon. Also, quiche from a vending machine! Awesome! You make me want to come to Japan and do the full vending machine and convenience store tour. I think the first thing I want to try is the famous egg salad sandwich 🥪🥚 (just the standard, no tiny eyes 😂) I’m curious, Eric, what the 6 means to you. Is it just your lucky number or is there a special meaning/significance that it has for you too, that isn’t too personal to share? Anyway, love your videos, they make me happy and I always look forward to them. Have you ever done a video where you choose a machine of random oddball stuff and try *everything* in it? I’d watch ☺️👀❤️

    Wow! As an Indigenous person from here in Australia .. we do eat a few bugs (witchery grubs being of of then) also known in my language as Maku,, these can found both underground in roots of certain bush shrubs in the Outback and also in tree trunks mainly in riverbeds.. both can be eaten live and/or cooked in camp-fire ashes .. ( personally I love the ground root ones raw .. kinda like eating runny egg yolks only wiggly) so pretty keen to try what you are sharing with us all here on your channel .. wow they looked good too 😄😛..

    Those sandwiches, and quiche looked quite epic. Very rare seeing such a set up like that, hoping one of the times you visit the place Eric. You can catch them loading them machines and maybe do a quick interview with them. Really curious as to how they come up with the different ideas for each of the items.

    • @seebastian5834
      @seebastian5834 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Hotels aren't even that bad, either - a simple buisiness hotel runs you around 5000-8000 yen a night or so (at least last time tourists were allowed into the country), sometimes even with breakfast. The costs are mostly getting there, getting around, and going out to drink at night. Plus souvenirs.

    as a chef, i will always try everything, but when we were in thaland years ago, i found crickets kinda hard to eat, but i Do believe in its sustainability as a food source, BUT those sammiches look FIRE!!!! and its kind of a great take on a quiche, what kinda crust was that? puff pastry or a pie dough base?, i'm so curious as to how charred the bottom was, did it add to the flavor profile? god i wish we had machines like that here in canada!

    • @LauraBidingCitizen
      @LauraBidingCitizen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Quiche is traditionally made with shortcrust pastry, it looks like they stayed on the traditional route & used shortcrust 😊

    • @JonniHomicide
      @JonniHomicide 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LauraBidingCitizen i can dig it, if its shortcrust, then it would make sense for it to have the darker bottom, which would inherently had a deeper baked and crusty flavor profile, i feel if it was puff pastry it would taste more burnt, but the filling looks really really nice and soft, so i'm hella curious.

    • @LauraBidingCitizen
      @LauraBidingCitizen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JonniHomicide I’m British & have made several quiches, I failed at the first few! 😂 Is shortcrust easy to buy pre made where you are? Much less faff, but short crust is one of the easier pastries to make if you do end up making it from scratch, I’ve done both, but I buy it now out of ease. Blind baking is essential which I’m presuming is where they got the colouration on the bottom of the pastry, they may have blind baked it for slightly too long, doesn’t effect the flavour too much though!
      I can dig out a saved recipe for you if you’re interested :) you may need to convert as I use grams / ounces usually, but happy to oblige if you’d like one. They’re SO tasty!

    • @JonniHomicide
      @JonniHomicide 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LauraBidingCitizen I'm a professional chef here in canada for the last 24 years, here in canada we have whats known as french or quebec quiche which is kind of universally the norm, a short crust is on the fast side a 3/2/1 (Flour/butter/water) recipe, depending on elevation, i ask because of the color, as well, my trip thru thailand and goin back home to the phillipines, they often times use a sturdier version incorporating more flour to the same part fat and water, as well, some spots use a puff pastry to create a lighter/heavy light base crust, and the coloration on the bottom made me wonder if they used the same, as well as souffle'd the quiche without a humid oven, i DO highly agree a blind bake is extremely necessary to a final product altho, again with the color, i wonder if they opted for a less blindbake and hotter oven with everything in, and souffle'd the pie at a slightly hotter temp. also if you DO have a great english Quiche recipe i'm Totally down, as i have many british/european residents where i work, and i'm sure they would love/appreciate a lil taste of home!

    Your videos always make me so hungry. I think I have eaten way more Japanese food in the last couple of years than I ever have in the past!

    I am super happy to see you are still going strong and making videos! You probably don't recognize me now since i changed my name etc. but we used to talk back in 2011-2012. I used to watch you heavily haha. Always loved videos like these and the ones with your sons in it. Reason I found your videos again was because I saw we had a talk on Linkedin. Keep up the great work man

    In my country (New Zealand) we do whitebait fritters. That on a piece of white bread and mayonnaise. Soooo good! Thanks again Eric for an awsome food adventure.
